It is not allowed to carry out any independent research on Uyghur political prisoners and the number have never been revealled. It is clear thousands of young Uyghurs are sufferring in prison just becuase of different opinon from the Han Chinese and its government. No Han Chinese in prison because of their different ideas on Uyghurs. The Uyghurs are the true owners of "Xinjiang". This fact cannot be changed in spite of whatever you do to try to distort the history.

It is simply awful that they are being slaughtered like Sheep by the Han Chinese. This is exact same attitude that the Japanese had towards the Chinese in

the 1930's-40's. I realize the Han Chinese are under a lot of economic pressure, however they must give the Uyghurs their autonomous region as

they had promised in 1955. The Beijing Gov't has reneged on their earlier promises when it comes to most non-han minorities. The Uyghurs are mostly peaceful people must be able to live their lives.

You got the real history messed up. Uyghurs were conquered by Mongols first and then fought with Mongols against China around 1200-1300. There is why there are some Uyghurs in Taoyuan City of Hunan Province even today and they were the descendants of an Uyghur military unit.

I think you refered to what happened in Tang Dynasty when Uyghurs recovered the Tang's capital taken over from a rebel force. Uyghurs always had very good relationship with Tang Dynasty, which existed 1300 yeara ago.

Chinese side's story: Han Chinese occupied Xinjiang 2000 years ago (Turkic and Uyghur occupied it much later). But Han Chinese lost, re-gained, re-lost, and finally regained this area 300 years ago.

Many ethnic groups have occupied this area for some time, including Tibetan, Mogols, Arabics, Turkic (the forefather of today's Turkish people), Uyghur, and Han Chinese.

Moreover, Uyghur were even not Turkic. They were the enemy of Turkic by then.

Actually I do not feel this history is so important, because everyone can understand history from his/her own approach.

However, this is a legal fact that this area is part of China now.

Uyghurs were probably Turkic, but co-existed with Gokturks during China's Tang Dynasty. Uyghurs and Gokturks may be very close linquistically back in the old days, but they were distinct tribes. It was the Uyghurs who dominated Mongolia after Guk Turks.

Unfortunately the way China is going, the Uighur and Tibetan cultures will be destroyed by or before the mid 21st century. The official Beijing policy is to settle these areas, just like Europeans settled the American West. It is policy of extermination and or assimilation by force. China is not a Democracy, I don't think there will be anyone able to stand up to and stop the Han Chinese. Unfortunately the younger generations in China have been brain washed to be hyper-patriotic and ignorant.

East Turkistan is a dangerous word. It's also the name of a UN registered terrorism organization. There are many ethnic groups within Chinese, and some of them lives in Xinjiang. So next time before you say East Turkistan, think twice.

Of course it is sad to know that but looking to the history you understand that Eastern Turkistan is not the name of terrorists but geographical location called Turkestan that divided into western and eastern turkestan. I think the using ancient geographical name of land in a term of terorism is not good and myself i protest any terms of terorism.
