The horsepower of the Corolla is pretty low...so the tires don't spin very fast, which leads to less wear and tear on the tires when the car goes around the corner..producing less smoke.

yes and no in my opinion. today's drifting uses high hp to get big angles, but the AE86 is also great for mountain passes (initial d) cause of the low weight and balance. But i guess drifting style affects it too, I guess.
