A question. Does anyone who is non-Catholic here have books or similar works showing Christ or the Dove that descended at his baptism or the tongues of fire at pentecost? Do you feel moved to worship these pictures? Or rather do you seem them as mere symbols and imperfect metaphors for an infinite reality that cannot be shown fully by man?
Jesus came to save the world not to condemn it. With all the unsaved in the world, this is the best use of this pastor's time? I'm sure there are those in his congregation with "real" issues that need to be helped and all he can do is beat up a statue? What about the symbolic idols/statues in his members hearts...ie: TV, sports, food, porn. Why not help people tear down those statues? What an ignorant way to waste God's time.

As an aside amusingly enough the statue is not even of the the theotokos and mother of our Lord. It is of St. Therese. As to been worthy of Christ, no man is. Neither you nor I nor Mr. Jenning. Lastly, the statue that Pastor Jennings is destroying with a hammer is not a statue of the Virgin Mary. It is a statue of St. Therese of Lisieux, also known as the "Little Flower". She was a Carmelite nun from France who died when she was only 24 years old of tuberculosis. She was recently declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope John Paul ll and is considered to be the greatest saint of modern times. I would encourage people to read about her life.
We all have pictures of people we love to remember them by. Why not Mary? And all of us ask others to pray for us when we are in need. Why then is it so wrong to ask Mary to pray for us. If we know someone who is close to God then we ask them to pray for us because they are especially close to Him. Hay que tener presente que en el Antiguo Testamento no podía representarse a Dios porque el Verbo no había tomado cuerpo ni forma humana. Pero en el Nuevo Testamento es distinto. Con la Encarnación, el Verbo Dios tomó forma humana.
El Verbo se encarnó y habitó entre nosotros. Y si representarlo en una pintura o en una imagen ayuda a recordar su memoria, no hay nada malo en ello.

28, I would like to reply to some of your points. As far as hammering the idol of Mary I don't disagree with. Catholics do worship a pagan idol. Lastly, the statue that Pastor Jennings is destroying with a hammer is not a statue of the Virgin Mary. It is a statue of St. Therese of Lisieux, also known as the "Little Flower". She was a Carmelite nun from France who died when she was only 24 years old of tuberculosis. She was recently declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope John Paul ll and is considered to be the greatest saint of modern times. I would encourage people to read about her life.

Hay que tener presente que en el Antiguo Testamento no podía representarse a Dios porque el Verbo no había tomado cuerpo ni forma humana. Pero en el Nuevo Testamento es distinto. Con la Encarnación, el Verbo Dios tomó forma humana.
El Verbo se encarnó y habitó entre nosotros. Y si representarlo en una pintura o en una imagen ayuda a recordar su memoria, no hay nada malo en ello.

28, I would like to reply to some of your points. As far as hammering the idol of Mary I don't disagree with. Catholics do worship a pagan idol. The old prophets did the same thing in the Bible to idols; they destroyed them. Geno is not ALL wrong in what he teaches. WRONG ...THE GRAVEN IMAGE THE BIBLE SPEAKS ON IS NOTHING THATS IN THE HEAVENS ABOVE OR THE EARTH BENEATH OR THE WATER UNDER THE EARTH..ALL GOD SAYS IS NOT TO BOW TO IMAGES OF THAT NATURE, FOR HE IS A JEALOUS GOD, HE DONT LIKE IT AND MANY RELIGIONS DO THAT......AND ITS WRONG,JUST THAT SIMPLE.......and about the cross behind him its just a cross there's know image on it, now if he had the so called image of jesus on it that many have arould the world

Gensis 4:23 says "the likeness of ANYTHING. Anything is anything. A picture of the cross is an image of itself. Shall we continue with this simple arguement?
