@metolius I need to install mine in a doorway made of bricks,I guess I have to use steel dowels?. Btw, all countries (excepting 2 or 3) officialy use decimal metric system, please have the measurements also in centimeters... thanks in advance!
Question: I want to mount mine above an wide interior doorway, the concrete is only 2 inches thick, can I just get some bolts and a drill bit that are the same size as the holes in the hangboard, and bolt it right to the concrete? Or should I also put plywood in between?
@DownstairsTunes You still want to mount it to a piece of plywood because I don't think they make concrete bolts that are small enough plus it might be hard to get it to line up with all the holes on the board. And you definitely don't want to make the screw hole in the finger board any larger as this could weaken the board.
I will be installing the Metolius Slim Gym above my walk-in closet door which does not have an actual door frame, if that makes sense. The wall is flush. Will this be a problem? I will be using the horizontal stud that is right above the door opening and the other horizontal stud right where the wall meets with the ceiling just like was shown in the video. There is also one vertical stud that connects the two so it kind of makes a capital "I". Should I be fine?
@philros1 I think that should be fine. I would use 4 or 5 screws to attach to both of the horizontal studs and 2 screws for the single vertical stud. 9 or 10 screws in total should make a secure mount.
Metolius, i have a question for you, why do you put the plywood? why not directly on the wall?? can i know the reason? i made my own wood fingerboard, and put it directly on the wall... and find no problem at all with it... what's the advantage of the wood you put?? thanks
@SirMarcGermani It is necessary to have the board attached to the structural part of the wall which would the studs in most cases. The spacing of the screw hole in the finger board will not aline with the studs. So you use the plywood to attach to the studs and then attach the finger board to the plywood for a solid and safe connection. If you simply attach the finger board without the plywood you most likely would only be attaching to the drywall which is not able to support your weight safely.
@SirMarcGermani You would still need a backing-board with a concrete wall because the concrete anchors are too big of a diameter for the small screw holes on the finger-board. And you definitely don't want to drill out the finger-board holes to make the larger bolts fit because it will weaken the finger-board. You can generate a few hundred of pounds of force doing pull-ups so it is very important the board is attached securely.
@TeeDotOwe Most people get the 3D simulator but if you have limited space the Project board might be better. Rock Rings are the easiest to mount and take down when not in use. If you goto our channel page there is a link to our website for more info.
Hey I am installing a hangboard, and I already have the two by 4 in the studs. But when Im installing the actual hangboard, it is almost impossible to get the screws in, by hand or with the electric drill. Any tips?
@12mkrug you might be hitting the head of a screw in the stud. If so, I would move the board about a 1/4 inch to the side. If this is happening on every screw the wood maybe very hard and you can use dish soap to lubricate the screws or pre-drill the holes with a 1/8 inch drill bit. Just make sure you are still engaging the threads of the screws. If you have any further questions please contact customer service.
Hi, just asking. I'm not sure about bolting/drilling through the walls of my home as I need to check the foundation of my house. But is reinforced concrete or brick-made wall better to bolt mount the training board just like that instead of installing the plywood first? thanks
@ThisIsHafiy Good question...We still recommend you mount the training board to a piece of plywood because the concrete anchors bolt size are a different size than the mounting holes on the training board. This will also allow you to drill the holes in the ideal spot if mounting to a brick wall.
Sorry I'm not allowed to post the link, but we sell concrete anchors on our website - it's under wall accessories.

@metolius I had to purchase # 10 screws because they didn't have 3 inch # 9 screws, only 2-1/4 inch. Is this ok?
markjburns 9 months ago
@markjburns #10 x 3 inch will be fine. It's always good to err on the side of over kill.
If you put a little dish soap on the screws it will make them easier to drive in, and quieter too.

@metolius oh.. my wall is made from concrete, very solid.
i thought it has something to do with the jug or something.. so that the hands will be far from the wall

I'd totally buy one of these if only my estate agent let me drill into the walls.
