Who has got win8 on their acer one? If you look at my profile jwbjnwolf you will easily be able to find my video on win8 starting on it, and I also give some info for getting the gma 500 driver working in win8, just get the win7 version, and do compatiblity as win7.
Man that is about 4 times faster than xp on mine and I had a registry booster installed(tuneup utilities) which helped big time.
NEVER use codecpacks,if tou want your movies to play without any problem! use media player classic home cinema or just install ffdshow filter-that's all. And GMA 500 is NOT able to hardware decode 1080p.
@ slovelissimo, CCCP is ffdshow and Media Plater Classic (It atleast that what shows up here with me). I Jumped the gun on the GMA 500 being able to play HD, seems to be a problem with drivers on the GMA 500. The intent from Intel i guess was to make it hardware accelerate videos, but the drivers are too bad.
But there are videos on Youtube of GMA 500 playing 1080p. When I get my Netbook I will surely try :)
I don't mean to flame or anything, but I ordered my GMA 500 Netbook based on Video acc.
hey . . . im using the 751 right now on a preloaded vista. . im thinking of changing it to xp, because i cant full screen youtube videos . . . if i change it to xp can i full screen videos ?
don't do it. i have the same computer, and i always hated it because it had vista and couldn't play youtube in full screen. they updated the driver, and when prompted that it's an older driver, install it anyway, intel made a typo in the driver name. that and update flash player, and i can play high quality videos full screen now from youtube. and if i want, i can download the HD videos from youtube and watch them in full 720p on full screen no lag. XP doesn't have the driver support.
don't have 7 quite yet. vista works very good though even with its resource-hungry-ness. not sure exactly when i'll upgrade but when i do, if i remember i'll get back to you.
i upgraded mine to win 7, got impatient :p . . . its faster than vista . . . i still havent encountered a problem ever since :D
most of the drivers where included already in windows . . . the graphics drivers where on windows update, only thing i had to download from acer site was bluetooth, card reader and touchpad. . . and the launch manager :D
yeah it seems like it would be, considering that when upgraded my desktop to 7 from vista, it used like half of the memory it was originally using, and half the CPU. i still have to save up for 7 (keep spending all my money on riding trips for the weekends lol), but eventually i'll get it.
i have a za3 as a matter of fact im using it right now...for me the start up is fast and easy.. anddi have a password to type in...and the internet is ready to use right away...so much beter than my moms desktop comp
? Correct if I am wrong. But isn't the netbook on the left (bigger screen) with the z520 and the one on the right n270? The z520 booted faster... That doubt apart, do you really "feel/see" the difference in performance in daily use like opening a lot of tabs and playing videos? btw, nice video
i have the 751h (left) and it didn't play videos well at all. however, after browsing the internet randomly one day a couple weeks ago, i realized that the drivers from intel contained a typo, so vista thought the new ones were older. i installed them and i can play full 720p videos on it with no lag at all, and high quality youtube videos with very little lag, no lag when fully buffered. only vista and 7 support the new drivers, though.
both of the netbooks basically have the same tweaks and same softwares installed, maybe a minor of 1 or 2 video software not installed on one of them..
Nope! quite certain the former model suffers from a mix of scattered or fragmented boot sequence files, higher end or larger drivers, vicious registry or an AV alone... and what's even more probable is if the netbook is sporting some optimized EeeXP2 magic mojo...
are the chargers the same ?

generally bigger machines are faster than smaller ones!! I just made a £99.99 offer on ebay for an acer notebook - I like the Atom's performance!!

Will the 751h play 720p video from the hard-drive (not youtube) smoothly?
thewtruth 2 years ago
Yes, with codecs it will. It has Intel GMA 500 graphics that support acceleration on HD. It will play 1080p too, just hook it up to a tv and go.
Google CCCP, first result you get, very good codecs.

zg5 is faster and who says you don't have different stuff on startup- etc

I always disable most of the useless startup, which i only leave the same startup on for almost all my computer such as anti virus

The HD is faster in the 751 if I remember correctly.
Thats why it won :)
lightofhonor 2 years ago
Cheers for that! Counter-intuitive! I would've thought the older model would be quicker due to the faster cpu...
