  • nice fps bro

  • Morrowind with HDR=shit

  • Something i don't getabout HDR:

why is it that when i llok at the sky the game gets darker and when open up a book too?

anyone know how to fix this?

  • getting the MGE settings optimized for your system is a huge pain in the ass, but its definatly worth it =). best mod for morrowind ever.

  • Hesitate71, that's the Morrowind Visual Pack. I use it too, along with a mod I've forgotten that has photo-realistic textures for ground, grass, cobblestones etc. And Korana's Balmora retexture. My Morrowind looks awesome.

  • and lots of shader...

  • omg i have a great texture pack i forget where i got it(some forum) but the file is called MVP30rc1

  • @hesitate71 its called visual pack 3.0 amd its on PES, my file's name is that too

  • umm kinda looks the same to me but whatever its cool.

  • frame rate looks pretty crappy

  • Only if by 'crappy' you mean 'decent.' It's a *little* choppy in this video, but it's hardly worth fussing over, and complaining about the framerate of the video does little to change the fact that this is an impressive addition to Morrowind. Very cool.

  • Actually you _can_ replace them with hi-res textures and have them show up hi-res in-game. I dislike the animated grass btw. Turned it on for like 5 mins then found it irritating.

  • Wow, I can't see how making the environment way more immersive would be "irritating" but each to their own.

Every "texture pack" I've looked at was unimpressive, custom versions of what people thought the textures should look like.

I'll go with the textures that Bethesda intended for the game, thank you very much.

  • Someones an asshole...

  • and a douche.

  • Probably a Bethesda lackey.

  • I really liked the grass, but I hated that when I killed something it would fall into the grass and roll down the hill and if i had to immediately attack another monster or bandit I would not be able to see where all the previous corpses were and would have to hunt through the grass to loot corpses

  • You have no appreciation for the modding community, so why comment?

  • I've always wondered why you can't do HDR and AA at the same time. It makes it hard to decide which you want. Deal with stepping on far off objects or give up beautiful lighting.

  • holy crap, hdr?!?!? all that needs now are some real-time shadows and morrowind would be beautiful.

  • Unless I'm not mistaken, the Morrowind Graphics Extender can pull *close* to that off. Not that it was all too far off of that in the original game, in terms of appearances. I may be wrong, but in any event this game's modding scene is VERY impressive. ;)

  • No, xbox couldnt possibly handle thses mods...maybe VERY SIMPLe ones....

  • xbox is noob :P Why play games like this on xbox anyway? waste of money

  • no xbox cant use mods none at all

get pc and buy used copy on amazon or ebay ^^

  • A modded xbox can use mods..

  • xbox can use mods but why play morrowind on xbox anyway?? shity controls and not 1% of the mods from the PC version are available..you cant make your own mods and you cant play in high resolutions like the PC version, your stuck with some shitty blurry resolution. Morrowind on PC with photo real texture packs, infinite draw distance mod and other mods like better bodies and heads make the PC version still look beautiful even today, look up a MW PC mod site for some ideas of what is possable.

  • hdr lighting isnt just improving the look of the sun's graphic its overall lighting effects on the entire enviroment surrounding you. this is no different then running oblivion in bloom with a beaming sunglare mod. to bad u couldent show the "hdr" effects on a city's walls/trees/water/characters as true hdr would affect all of these

  • i didn´t get behind the bloom- and HDR-effect in MGE, too.

    btw nice vid

  • I don't get how to enable bloom with MGE, tried it and searched over google, may anybody please help me?

  • watch my morrowind video, there you can find bloom. not made with mge but with a new modded dx9-device.

or just google for "enbseries". you find a website where you can download the dx9 file + an editing-ini-file. put it in your morrowind-direction (not the data). then you just have to start your morrowind and press [Shift]+[F12].you can add bloom, Occlussions and death-in-field. i olny activated bloom because the others where really buggy. just edit your "enbseries.ini" contact me 4 more info;)

  • Morrowinds advantage over Oblivion is that treasure was handplaced instead of just random generated. There was actually a reason to explore because there were things to find. Oblivion was pretty, but one got the sense that the devs got lazy. Morrowind was full of shipwrecks, lost tombs, artifacts, and unique places. Somehow, Oblivion just felt random generated and empty.

  • Your damn right but oblivion is still a great game

  • Comment removed

  • Uh, no. Morrowind had handplaced items. From Fargoths ring, to the ring of +10INT/+10WIll in the first tomb up the coastline, the artifact warhammer floating in the deadric ruins on the same island as Saedrith Mora. It also had leveled loot in the dungeons too, but good items were placed around Morrowind to find. No such luck with Oblivion. You can keep visiting the same chest and eventually get all the treasure in Oblivion.

  • BobsSensei, your statement is akin to trying to explain why diamond is a metal. In other words, so thoroughly fallacious that I am classifying you as a troll and your comment flamebait.

  • BobsSensei is a level five fail.

  • Oblivion is a fantastic game that I love, and it's gameplay beats Morrowinds. But Morrowind has the power of an incredible story that people will love, which Oblivian doesn't really. Either way you get something and lose something. You can't lose either way. ;)

  • Looks damn nice, but it's imitation HDR because it doesn't have the fake eye adjustment thingy (Wait, which one is the fake here? o.o)

  • im not sure if this only happens to me, but when i look away from the sun in oblivion the glare of it disappears... its kinda annoying as it ruins the HDR effects

  • im a mod tester, mostly i do morrowind (cuz my obliv files wont install right...)

and i must say its had 2 find a better game to play than morrowind...hands down cool!

add me as a frnd' 2 get my know-how on the game.

  • I loved how morrowind just placed you into the world, with the name of one person in one town, and barely told you anything. From then on in, you were on your own. Oblivion semed to hold your hand and you were never free.

  • Morrowind is like, the best game, ever.

  • I find Morrowind quite emotional for me because the game was strikingly beautiful.

  • You guys should all know that if you swing a sword in real life, and you're terrible at it, it doesn't matter where you're aiming, you probably held it wrong or something. The bow and arrow especially.

  • The Morrowind Graphics Extender is certainly one of the best mods ever designed for video games.

  • Actuallly it's "Morrowind Graphics Extender" which can easily be found be googling it.

  • can someone please say me the download link from that?

  • I think we all just need to cross our fingers that they spend more than 4 years developing TES V

  • Nice!

  • It would be nice if Elder Scrolls #5 had working boats and flying dragons that we could ride and control. Mounted combat would be good too (yes I know of the Oblivion Mods for it).

  • Sorry... but Elder Scrolls lore states that there are very, very few flying dragons left, and those that ARE alive would take offense to being ridden by a filthy adventurer.

  • lol

  • I don't know what they did, but after playing Oblivion for a while, I was absolutely not motivated finding out what comes next. And this is and always will be instand death for a game.

As strange as it sounds, I still keep on playing Morrowind on my 7 year old 1400Mhz Athlon, GeForce 4800 with WIN98.

  • I agree with you.

I am playing Morrowind for 4 years now, and still have not seen everthing.

The moment where Oblivion came out, I put together a new Computer with Dual-Core and a GeForce 8800. After playing for 40 minutes or so, I quit the game.

Oblivion, I think, is a very good example, that better graphic quality doesn't necessarily create better atmosphere.

  • i like em both and still play em both even though i started playing morrowind after oblivion still great games

  • Everyone should keep in mind that when people say 'oblivion is better'..They -mean- 'Oblivion is EASIER'. Yeah, I went there. D:

  • im an oblivion fan but i agree with you there i bougt morrowind after oblivion and have to say its not an easy game

  • yeah, BULL SHIT!!!! god man, i was a morrowind fan and i though oblivion was a huge let down, i mean i love the game, its just that theres so little to do compaird to morrowind, the graphics made me have an orgasm and the addons rock, plus the quests are alot more creative, but its just so easy and short compared to mrrowind

  • Oblivion sucks. Bethesda only created it to make money. They never put the work, thought, or time into it that they put into morrowind. I'm going to continue to play morrowind. With mods, morrowind's graphics can be just as good as oblivions.

  • how do you know why bethesda created oblivion? you cant.

Morrowind cant reach Oblivions Graphic Quality, with no mods!

Oblivion is too easy... but you can enhance it with some mods as I did.

Morrowind is an awsome game i know ;)

  • Idiot,,,, do you have any idea how hard it was to make Oblivion compared to Morrowind???????????? the reason you hate it is because they went in a different direction and made everything Physical based and not skill based.

  • And you know how hard it was to make Oblivion compared to Morrowind?

    Sure you do.

    P.S.:

The reason I don't like Oblivion is not because "they went in a different direction and made everything Physical based and not skill based".

    Whatever that means...

  • look, I liked morrowind, but now that I played Oblivion I can't stand to play it anymore because of the fact that you canpysically hit an opponent and still "miss".

it pisses me off..... I was a huge fan of this game, and Oblivion was a letdown. but the gameplay is such a hughe leap over morrowind that I suppose I truly won't be satisfied untill the fifth one comes out

    (2020 maybe?)

  • yeah im probably gonna be done with college by the time the fifth one comes out but i bet its gonna be the perfect one yet...im sure they're gonna make the gameplay even better (like the whole sword swinging dilemmna with hitting your own allies being fixed)

  • And you know how hard it was to make Oblivion compared to Morrowind?

    Sure you do.

    P.S.:

The reason I don't like Oblivion is not because "they went in a different direction and made everything Physical based and not skill based".

    Whatever that means...

  • That's not true. Morrowind isn't even that skill based.

  • Yes it is. When you pull a trigger in reality, the gun goes off, the bullet flies, and it will hit what it is aimed at. In Morrowind, if you fire an arro at point blank range, without them even knowing you are there, more than likely you will miss.

  • What I didn't like about Oblivion is how very DIFFICULT it was to put a new character into the world. With Morrowind, it was sign here, here, and here, and off you go. But Oblivion? Kill rats. Kill zombie. Kill rats. Kill goblins. Kill rats. Kill assassins.

  • Save right before leaving the sewers.. you can change all your stats right before you leave, making this your "Character Generation" savegame. And you get to skip the rats and assasins!

  • OMG SRS BUSINESS.

  • i dont know about you guys but morrowind was very hard to get into....especially when the graphics were dated for its time..oblivion might be a little on the easy side but im sure the developers made it that way so the fan base increases and its easier for people to get submerged into the world..although the world of morrowind seemed a little more intriguing..(even though walking around from place to place trying to get to a spot got annoying)

  • Try the mods.

  • I am a fan of all TES games, and yes, Morrowind was harder than Oblivion. The games, though, are so different from eachother and have their own unique gameplay. Thats why I love all of them.

  • Nevermind, figured it out. Hardly noticeable difference =/.

  • how do you enable HDR with MGE?

  • any1 who says this games graphics are bad is retarded

  • it isn't as good on xbox i'm amazed by some of the computer enhanced graphics for the game

  • The PC is always superior to consoles, it's just a matter of budget ;)

  • its not bad the engine is just gettin old thats all, but its enough for me

morrowind is the best, oblivion sux in comparison anyway

  • Same for me. I still play it. Again. And again. And again.

I wish they would release more expansions for it. The mod-quest and addons just doesnt do it for me...

  • in comparison to this game oblivion sucks. why? because of the enourmous different loot. a HARD dungeon in morrowind gives GOOD loot weras the same difficult dungeon in oblivion might give you a crappy random loot dagger

  • Oblivion dont suck.

I can describe it like..... err.

I had more fun a longer time with Morrowind.

    Oblivion was shorter.

  • Ya'll suck - but Oblivion's not :)

    Oblivion is an INCREDIBLE game.

I've played Morrowind and i've played Oblivion.

And in my opinion - Oblivion is better.

    Yes - Morrowind's very good.

    But - Oblivion's better :)

    Peace.

  • Probably you only rate a game for the graphics... Morrowind its MUCH BETTER than Oblivion.

    (sorry my english sucks)

  • How nice that you've said "Probably"... Cause you see... You're wrong.

My all-time favourite RPG Game Is Planescape Torment. You know why? Because of the story, characters and incredible vibe, that's coming from It. So don't tell me bullshit about "Graphics". You think that Morrowind is "MUCH BETTER". And i think that Oblivion i MUCH BETTER. That's all.

  • HOLYSHITPATRICK

  • LOL

  • ....patrick? Is that you? Come out of your computerbox!

  • Quick response ;)

  • Quick response replied!

  • who cares if it's 'true' does it look like hdr or not?the mod is to make it look better not to be REAL hdr.

  • out of the list of shaders which is that one?

  • I made this video with MGE 2.6, using the DX9 HLSL HDR 4 shader (I believe).

  • @Anumidium LOL I use HDR 4 too

  • Morrowind isn't optimized all that great, MGE hdr really is a big performance hit while recording a video. Running how it is is amazing.

  • Heh... that's cause I ran it at 640x480 for the video. I never play with it higher than 800x600 with the effect on...

  • Nevermind, that is 800x600. oops

  • Yes, because recording a video in a game DOESN'T cause any kind of slow down :p Also Morrowind was once of the most demanding games PC-Wise when it came out, and still is pretty demanding by todays standards.

  • lol

  • guys... it isn't true HDR.

  • HDR in any game isn't real HDR... It's always only simulated. xP

  • i am gonna try this out! cheers :P

  • Does this mod just enhance the sun? If so, where can I get it (i'm tired of the sun just being a mild, transparent light in the sky)?

  • It's a graphical enhancer that can do all sorts of things (antialiasing, HDR, bloom); it's not a mod, per se, but it hooks itself into the graphics system. MGE also does the Infinite View Distance you see in some videos. Most recent info on it can be found on the official forums, http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=512078&hl= is the latest thread on it, but the forums move fast so it won't be forever.
