  • @gorduna23 Thanks for watching!

  • dont swirl the pan! The sugar crystals on the side will burn!!! D: Also don't let the whisk leave the mixture, or it'll create weird textured hole in the pudding :|

  • @michelle13579123 No they will not. This is perfect caramel for flan. No crystals. And the custard is just right. Sorry. Thank you for coming by.

  • @BLBMZ You are welcome! Thank you for coming by!

  • Looks absolutely delicate!

  • @1msbeanpie Thank you! I appreciate you stopping by!

  • And I thought your accent was sexy...

  • @HypeBeGone Thank you! I appreciate you stopping by!

  • What are you doing with your brush, is it water, why ?

  • @F3FisGoodforYou When you are making caramel, little particles of sugar start sticking to the sides of your pan. The brush helps you get rid of them. Thank you for watching!

  • My flan came out beautiful! I wish I had taken a picture. It was so much more easier than I thought. And I melted my sugar perfectly, thanks to you. mwah.

  • @gma904 I am sorry I missed this! Thank you so much for letting me know! I am so happy this worked so well for you. Happy 2012!

  • i ate this about 5 mins ago

    yours looks better :(

  • @noobman300 I hate when that happens! Thank you so much for watching!

  • Mmmm delicious! My mother always was the one to make this for me and now I'm going to try and make it for her (and everyone) this Christmas. Thank you for showing and explaining, very well, how to caramelize the sugar properly. I feel more confident about making it now.

  • @gma904 Great! I hope yours comes out perfect! Thanks!

  • Why is there black chunks in it? I've had flan and it didn't look like that.

  • @WuzzaBluesy I do not know what you are talking about - black chunks? Maybe you see the caramel as black chunks? At any rate, thanks for coming by.

  • It was a great recipe. I made it already and my family and I loved it.

  • @patriciacheesepuffs Awesome! Thanks for letting me know!

  • that flan looks good. I'm Mexican too and i was happy to see a familiar flan. all the other ones i saw in videos look too solid i like some bubbles on my flan it has more of texture thank you for your video.

  • @patriciacheesepuffs Thank you for coming by! This is actually very good flan and yes, it does remind me of the flan we used to order in taquerias in California. Have a wonderful day! I am happy you like this!

  • Next

  • i dont have lechera how can i replace it i only got milk

  • @chubis101 This recipe will not work with plain milk - unfortunately. You will have to make your flan in a completely different way. You will have to simmer the milk with a vanilla bean and add tempered egg yolks to it. I have no idea what you could replace it with. Sorry :(

  • It looks a bit overcooked...

  • @lizzieduong Thanks for coming by! This was actually perfectly cooked.

  • i MADE! this and it was great!!!!!! thank you! everyone enjoyed it!!

  • @NUSHKILICIOUS01 Yay! I am so happy this worked for you! Thanks for letting me know!

  • the eggs mix does not curdle when i tempur it ( the caramel is perfect ^-^) but after i cooked it. and let it . cool i go to unmold it. but it holds it shape. but when you go to eat it . it is like little tiny curds that fall aparts ...nasty

  • @DirugazeXD It sounds it. . . I am sorry this is not working for you :(

  • @DirugazeXD I think I know what you are doing . . . I think you are overcooking your flan,. This is why it is curdling and getting ruined.

  • What size is that pan you are using?

  • @WWGreatheart I will check out the size and get back to you. Thanks for coming by!

  • My custard keep coming out curdled <:(

  • @DirugazeXD I am sorry to hear that and do not understand why that might be. Are you heating the custard? If so, are you adding the eggs directly into the hot custard? Thank you for coming by!

  • my favorite part is eating it :D

  • @xGoldenAngel18 Agreed!

  • I have always thought it would be too hard to make a flan!! I make candy and other custards.. but I have never had the courage to try a flan... I think I will look this up over the weekend and make it for my family!! Thank you!!

  • @darbygirl03 Yay! I hope it comes out great. Thanks so much for coming by!

  • That looks easy and great! Waiting for your home made sour cream recipe.

  • @tatri1 I will make that first thing next year. Deal? Happy Holidays!

  • oh and those who are making caramel for the first time, please be careful! caramel boils at a much higher temperature then water which means if u get the caramel on your skin, it was leave a nasty burn. and it's much more painful than boiling water. so please be extremely careful when working with hot caramel.

  • @derekbegins Great tip! Thanks Derek!

  • ive always made creme caramel .. so many recepies but it wont come right.. theyre either too creamy or too EGGY.. is this one eggy? i really wanna make good one.

u think its good if i put rosewater and pinches of saffron? will it turn out as yummy.. or a tablespoon of vinegar to reduce the eggy smell

  • @Mikyajful I wouldn't consider this too eggy. If you mix it well - and you can use a blender for this is you like - you should not have any problems with it. Adding rosewater and saffron sounds really interesting. I have never tried that so I can't say if it will work but I guess you won't know if you don't try it. I definitely would stay away from the vinegar. Add more vanilla to it if you would like - maybe one more tsp. I hope this helps!

  • @pastryparrot1 Ill make it ! ill just gonna change one step from urs.. ill keep it in the fridge till overnight:D so that its stays stifferr and wobbly

  • @Mikyajful Great! I hope it comes out perfect!

  • I will have to try this for Christmas dessert. Thank you Mary-Ann for this simple recipe.

  • @LyraSpan I hope you love it! Thanks so much Lyra for all your continued support. You rock! Happy Holidays!

  • @pastryparrot1 hi! do you put water in the sugar when making caramel? i was just trying to make flan earlier but messed up on the caramel so i stopped.

  • @MissVulnera Making the caramel is tricky! I do not put anything in my sugar. Just pure sugar. I know people that add a splash of water and sometimes butter to their sugar. I have seen how the sugar crystallizes but, with persistence, they seem to succeed. It eventually turns into a nice dark, amber caramel. Pure sugar works best for me. I hope you don't give up! Thanks for coming by!

  • looks yummy! i've got a question: what is evaporated milk and where can i buy it? i'm italian and i'm not sure i have understand, sorry :)

  • @miky218 According to the dictionary it is latte evaporato. Evaporated milk, also known as dehydrated milk, is a shelf-stable milk product with about 60% of the water removed from fresh milk. It comes in cans and is very useful for all kinds of desserts. I love pouring a little into my coffee! Thanks for coming by! Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo!

  • @pastryparrot1 thanks a lot for the explanation! and also for all your great recipes you upload here :) happy holidays to you too!

  • @JimboJitsu Thank Matt! I am happy you do. Take care my friend!

  • OMG great tip for the caramel I always have a hard time making it because i stir it, thaaaanks!!! ... I do that same for the flan but i like to add cheesee cream it is good too!!! thanks again!

  • @RinaUsaHime Yes, quiltingconnie said thesame thing about the cream cheese. I will definitely try it out. You are welcome about the caramel! This method is so much easier because you don't have to deal with hard blobs of sugar which take forever to melt! Merry Christmas!

  • Just excellent!!

  • @TheVittleVlog Hey Rick! Thanks my friend! I hope you have a blessed Christmas and a fabulous 2011!

  • @lfi18593 Yes! No more boxed stuff! Thanks for coming by!

  • Awsome M ! I make this all the time in individual ramekins for my mum to help beef up her calories & she loves it. Big custard fan ! Have never used evap & condensed milk...just reg milk & some cream. Tip for viewers: Add water to the caramel pan after pouring it into your mold, bring it to a boil & voila...the caramel dissolves & no scrubbing required of the pan..just soap & water cleanup. Happy Holidays !
