  • Sometimes ideas die out only because the people who believe them die out. I think creationist retards are dying out. The problem now is the muslim world. Most of them believe in this nonsense and the ones who dont, dont risk saying it for fear of being stoned to death. Its quite sad.

  • YES!!! DAVID ATTENBOROUGH FROM THE TRILES OF LIFE!!!!!! This man helped teach me about evolution and biology with his TV show when I was a kid. Not those damn Texas bible thumping science teachers we had in school.

  • I know Cezanne, but then, I went to art school...

  • I'll be honest I didn't know who Cézanne or Watson and Crick were before I just looked them up and I've got a pretty reasonable understanding of science.

  • One big problem: People don't care about bloody facts, they want fairytales.

  • @andersemil Well that and top notch technology coming from science, so that they can claim it's god made... or Satan made but mentioning that it doesn't matter cause god has baptized their iPad.

  • Holy shit, that radar dish. How about getting one of those on my roof, eh?

  • big ups to rosalind franklin.

  • FUCK. Who/what is, Watson and Craig? Sorry, forgive me.

  • @bfoaliali

Watson and Crick... discoverers of the DNA double helix.

  • The only British scientist I adore more than Professor Dawkins is the great Sir David Attenborough

  • @atheistfromaustria Not so sure after that Ida debacle. She may have been a missing link but much over hyped and misunderstood as to what that meant (IE where on the chain it lay) and he did little to help with his tabloid type over excitement.

  • "So it's big, and it's small"

    It's a big egg.

  • In the info you say "Dawkins interviews famous admirers of science such as Douglas Adams and David Attenborough". Doesn't Attenborough qualify as somewhat of a scientist as he studied zoology and geology, but just chose to pursue broadcasting? I always considered him a scientist at least by title.

  • She seemed more pleased it was a new star rather than little green men. I want little green men. Therefore, applying religious logic, it was little green men who done it.

  • @drummerkid1993 HAHA sounds like that stupid woman in Alabama at the beginning of the video.

  • I wonder, if the founding father would be proud of todays americans... I know they were religious, but enough is enough... I'm sure they'd disapprove, seing what benefits science has brought americans and indeed our civilization...

  • @flyvid On the contrary, many of the founding fathers were quite secular. The Pledge of Allegiance never said "One nation under God" until 1954. Look it up.

  • i dont understand how 248 people disliked this video.

  • Ironically (and sadly?), I don't know who cezanne is. I don't even recognize that as an artist's name.

  • Fuck theists. Let people with intelligence and logic fly around in our hover cars on different planets while they kill each other over who has a better imaginary friend.

  • I totally get where the inspiration for the Movie "Contact" came from now :P

  • @EckoStream

Carl Sagan's book "Contact." That is what the movie is based off of.

  • I love Dawkins and Attenborough, both truly great men.

  • I agree with you, all god believers are plain stupid...just let the brainwashed idiots live the illusion of god. I'm sick of christians and muslims calling atheists idiots...really fucking sick of it.

  • its sad how people dont care for science

  • Paul Cezanne 19 January 1839 22 October 1906.

    French artist and Post-Impressionist painter.

  • I'm constantly surprised by the level of science education of the general public. With the availability of so much free information you should expect it to be much higher. Even at my university you find people indulging in the most gross nonsense; every kind of new-age and pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo. Supposedly educated people, who no more understand methodology as what makes a good argument in general.

  • I do agree about that whole Sezan thingy (or who ever the name is spelled)

I have no idea who it is and i've studied art history...

well studied and failed the class... but hell i should have picked up something!

  • Cezanne, Look him up, fantastic artist!

  • I think that South Park episode captured Richard Dawkins' persona perfectly.

  • Dawkins is a genious. He realises that you can have 1000s of scientists working on something, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge further and further, but what use is that if they become so detached from the public that society doesn't progress, in terms of knowledge?

He sort of acts as a conduit between the scientific community and the public, opening their eyes to this wonderous golden age of information we live in.

  • you spelled genius wrong

  • That's the british spelling of genius.

    And it's "spelt". Not spelled.

  • Comment removed

  • You forgot to start the sentence with a capital letter and it with a full stop.

  • he made you look stupid

  • I told this girl I liked that I was an atheist and she just started fucking crying. She said she couldn't see herself dating someone who doesn't believe in God. Some people are deluded beyond repair.

  • I was like 9 years old and I could tell the bible was crap. I remember sitting in Sunday school, as a child, and thinking to myself "this is preposterous!"

  • You must have been the most rational kid then! Were you pestered and bullied by the Jesus' gang ?

  • Yes, I had a 7th grade teacher call me out in front of the whole class for my lack of religion.

  • It s sad that there are plenty of ignorant teachers!

  • I'm very sorry for you.

I had a deeply religious 9th G History teacher that allowed me to voice my opinion that the Christian God does not exist. A lot of students were upset about this, but the teacher allowed my opinion without injecting his own (said he was not going to act as authority on the subject, that was the student's job).

I am grateful for the experience even though I was effectively shouted down.

  • bullshit

  • bullshit??! where? please don't let me walk in it

  • Why not? Some people can step in bullshit and come up smellin' like a rose!

  • Better off without her!

  • I have a friend who was exiled from their family for befriending a nonbeliever.

  • @originosity You should have been like " I'm the holy spirit , you need me inside of you "

  • @originosity I've had the same experience. It really sucks.

  • @originosity lol wtf rofl

  • @originosity I think that's a fair comment. I can't see myself dating someone who does believe.

  • @originosity :( feel sorry for her..hope she grew out of it

  • @originosity Sometimes it can only be called social suicide if you reveal yourself to be an atheist

  • @originosity if she was hot then i feel your pain (empathy)

  • @originosity She obviously had mental problems, she did you a favor by ending any relationship before it started. Then again religion and crazy travel in good company.

  • @originosity i once met a girl and she told me she belived in god, i just walked away. It works both ways, doesn't it ?

  • @Kasseenzettel you won't be able to reproduce if you continue doing so :/

  • @sinachiniforoosh if so, i guess its gods wish right ? :P

  • @Kasseenzettel I dunno, you can act against it :D

  • @originosity so what happened after 2 years?:D

  • @sinachiniforoosh I haven't talked to her since. I learned she had BPD but crying because you learn a friend is an atheist is still crazy. This xenophobic attitude towards non-believers ingrained in so many theists is so deeply rooted it is almost impossible to overcome.

  • @originosity that's sad.but I think there are many open minded theists who don't hate us atheists... but still... there are many annoying atheist haters out there...

  • Its funny for me.. you know living in a country were basicly noone believes in god. And then listen to this were people find it obvious that god exists and the bible is the truth? Its just... I just cant understand how people can be so bloody retardedly ignorant to SCIENTIFIC FACTS! I mean it just doesnt exist in my world, all I see are people joking when they say adam and eve were the first people on earth, but theyre fucking serious!?

  • ignorance in america is bad man. i live in southern california and even in a liberal and open culture as orange county, ignorance runs rampant. its bad man, people of reason are outnumbered

  • Good! It means these are the front lines! Nothing better than a good ol' verbal brawl IMO! Got my Darwin Fish shirt and everything! HAHA!

  • True, but considering say... 200 years ago, we've come a long way.

We're growing, and before long, the uneducated will become enlightend to the fact that superstition will drag us back to the dark ages, whereas Physical Evidence And Reasoned Logic (PEARL), is the only way forward.

    We own. Basically.

  • PEARL??

How about some CREAM with that PEARL,eh?

  • may I ask, where do you live?, I'll go and live there, lol

  • What kind of dinosaur did jesus ride?

  • Jesusaurus

  • he later married it, and thus raptor jesus was born.

  • dude Jesus wasn't a dinosaur, he was gay and had 12 boyfriends get it right! ;P.

  • lol

  • Resu-Rex

  • Jesus was a nice guy, but kept on converting water into wine much to the chagrin of his pet dinosaur Biblausaurus. Finally, all the water in the lakes and rivers was exhausted and all the dinosaurs started dying. When Biblausaurus asked Jesus why he did that, Jesus blessed him saying "Don't worry, one day humans will name a book on your name". Finally Biblausaurus also died one day, but the prophecy did come true.

Jokes aside, I do think Jesus was a kind and noble man.

  • At least Dwakins being a white man can go and ask questions in Albama. If an Asian brown skinned scientist were to ask the same questions, people of Alabama would resort to pelting stones .....okay I am exaggerating, but they will definitely curse him racially. Such is the deplorable state of affairs among the racist people of Alabama. They hate brown skinned people to the extent that some of them make dirty faces on seeing an Asian.

  • You have never been to the south have you hahaha, that's not at all what would happen.

  • I live there, and I can attest to Mr. Sigma's statement...this place SUCKS,

  • Stop being so Americentric. That can happen everywhere and with all races and ethnicities: in Peru with Spaniards, in China with Caucasians (does the term "gwailo" ring a bell?), in Argentina with British people, in Mexico with white Americans, etc.

  • I was being Alabama-centric not Americentric. I fully realize that USA is one of the most non-racist white countries of the world. Of course, not all are like that and some are wonderful people, but when you walk around in public places you do get the sense of being looked with "What is this browny doing here" expression. I have been to pubs and seen guys whisper in the ears of their friends "don't mix with him". Professionally, Asians may not be profiled but in social circles, it does happen.

  • she has sexy glasses, I would love to have a wack at her.

  • Don't you hate it when people say "Crick and Watson"? Its like saying "Clark and Louis". Totally wrong! XD

  • Love you Richard!

  • 1:39 attenburough is a huge stud for being strung up a tree like that

  • Wouldn't it be easier to put the theory of Evolution into Genesis? Then we can explain all of our mistakes, like the retina, or appendix, as punishments for the sins of ancestral species.

  • They should show this programme to every schoolkid in America.

  • What would be the point. The kids would just think all of this only applied to England.

  • No coz you Americans love us Brits, you want our science/intellectual/secular babies XD (and our accent). I think Dawkins could offer a fresh perspective from the everyday banter they are likely sick of hearing.

  • "No coz you Americans love us Brits, you want our science/intellectual/secular babies XD (and our accent). I think Dawkins could offer a fresh perspective from the everyday banter they are likely sick of hearing." As an American and song of an English expatriate I can tell you from personal experience that none of what you just said is true.

  • Fuck off then. :)

  • You're not very good at this.

  • Neither are you, if your channel comments are anything to go on.

  • My channel comments are testimony to just how amazing a troll I really am, actually.

  • @ananiasacts

wow really? do we need a mr american hand puppet? sometimes i think you guys are dildos who have no vision outside your own anus. im sorry.

  • Sorry about what? I appreciate and respect honesty. I'm also pretty sure I'm not too bright, but it's not for lack of trying, just poor traction or something. But I eventually catch on to most stuff people try to explain to me.

I'm pretty sure that if god wanted me to respect him I would. Not sure what to make of the fact that I don't. EIther I'm just not good enough to be worth saving, or too blind to see him frantically trying to flag me down, or too lazy to climb Mt NuffFaith, etc.

  • actually theres no need for that. i take it back. becuase i am aware of americans strengths and weaknesses. and also the english's. but it is a shame that it seems like you guys are taught to see things from the other %96 of human beings automatically as of lesser value. and thats a slippery slope bud. turn back the other way, becuase thats %5 down the road to fasiscm, the very thing we both fought against. we wouldnt want to have to turn against you in a hundred years time.

  • It might interest you to know that I've been advocating expanding our foreign embassies into small cities for more than 20 years. I would like few things more than to see my nation peppered with cities from every other nation. I think it would guarantee a leadership role for America even we stay a nation of fat ignorant fools. I don't worry much about what I say because my intentions are genuine and life is too short to play games. I agree we need to find ways to teach each other.

  • dont worry bout it. my bad

  • CRAZAY IN MY NAZAY

  • 00:41 "I find this lack of scientific understanding worrying.... *tsss...hhhh...*"

  • 00:41 "I find this lack of scientific understanding worrying.... *tsss...hhhh...*"

    "Now release your anger."

    "Join the Dork Side!"

  • Darth Dawkins: "I find this lack of scientific understanding worrying.... *tsss...hhhh...*"

Grand Moff Benedict XVI: "Dawkins, release them"

    Darth Dawkins: "Um, no."

  • i definatly want to have a career in science.

i have no idea what field though.

Biology, Medicine, and Astronomy are my top 3 right now

  • "Biology, Medicine, and Astronomy are my top 3 right now" -

Ground yourself with physics and chemistry as well. They'll apply to all three.

  • Attenborough is da man

  • I wish I were an astronomer. They are like the Vikings of today.

  • I think you may have missed the point of the video. Acquistion of knowledge and information enlightens. It raises the level of thinking in indiviuduals. It provides us with the means to rise from poverty and oppression. It takes us away from the territorial animal-like mentality where strangling and killing people may take place.

  • "waste of time these new agers are, why not do something worthwhile such as trying to solve poverty or child prostitution in the world"

Richard Dawkin's is diametrically opposed to New Agers. If you haven't noticed, he's an atheist, a prominent evolutionary biologist, and a rationalist.

Please don't use terms that obscure the truth.

  • is bible the word of god ?

if bible is the word of god how come that:

    1. bible has scientific errors, illogical and contradictions errors

    2. Jesus proves that trinity is fake himself.

    3. bible has unfulfilled prophecy

4.Jesus said that he is not god himself in the bible..

to believe what i am saying i would recommend you to watch my videos on my channel which is very short in which proofs, references and verses are mentioned as subtitled.

  • You know what's hilarious? I KNOW who Watson and Crick are...but until I saw this video, Cezanne had never really crossed my radar. Heh.

  • Because attempting to properly educate people is not as important is it?,how do you expect uneducated or misinformed people to solve problems such as poverty or child prostitution?

  • You deserve a cookie and a hug!

  • @SpectralSwiftness lets not forget uneducated people still get to vote (insert frowny face here)

  • I didn't thought there are still educated people on the earth that deny evolution, until I found some video about your strange american sect. Even the calcified catholic church accepted evolution.

I get really feared of what will happen to the world, if these fanatic christians get even more power in the US policy.

Gladly in Germany (or whole europe) there are no such fundamental tendencies. This would be a step back into the middle-age and times of the passed wars...

  • I agree with most of what you say but be aware there are state funded faith schools in the UK that teach creationism.

    Thank you Tony Blair.

  • I love Dawkins' message. But I just wanted to point out that he fell victim to a common misconception. Non-stick frying pans were not a spin-off of space travel. PTFE (Teflon) was invented accidentally in 1938 by someone who was attempting to create a new type of refrigerant. Non-stick pans were among the original applications, long before anyone was exploring space.

  • The reason tyrant religious people are so upset is: For the first time scientists are getting out of the lab and are trying to fight back the theocratic bully.

  • nice video

  • This is good stuff. We love you, Richard!

  • so for you fuckin ignorant religous people..if u don't accept science..then let's all not advance in society and wait for allah, jesus, or some other god to help us do that? kk?

  • Now.. what im going to write is the most improtant thing you have ever read so read carefully. and read the whole text.

    Our brains..havent changed in 100 000 years..

We have the same brains as those canibals and scavangers....

So what do we conclude of that ?

    only one thing.

the one thing that stands btw us.. and canibal scavangers who we think we are so evolved from, is our culture..the culture is the ONLY difference btw us the our scavages ancestors..

If more and more people reject Sience....

  • Please, tell me more bullshit.

  • How does one belong to the stupid? I want to know. I'd think it'd be quite difficult since stupid is an adjective and not a noun.

  • "How does one belong to the stupid? I want to know.

"The stupid" would be a group. As in one belongs to the republicans or democrats.

"I'd think it'd be quite difficult since stupid is an adjective and not a noun." It's not that difficult. Just place "the" in front of it and use it in context.

  • "The stupid" is meaningless. You could say "the stupid group" which is what you apparently belong to.

  • "The stupid" is meaningless. You could say "the stupid group" which is what you apparently belong to."

K, Now your just being silly.

The hungry, The impoverished, The poor, The homeless, The uneducated, ect.

  • You started the silliness. I'm just playing along.

  • No, on the contrary.

You cannot support your view so instead you attempt to validate it by insults.

  • How did I not support my view? I had a whole reply that supported my view that you ignored. The insults were entirely separate and were playfully poking fun at your grammer.

  • Nix that, I saw your reply and I'm replying now.

  • You wouldn't say you belong to the hungry.

  • "You wouldn't say you belong to the hungry."

    No, I am not hungry.

Regardless, more appropriately one would say

"they are, among, one of the hungry.

One does not say: They are the homeless group. It is understood the homeless designates a group. This compares to needy, helpless, stupid, foolish,

  • You would say "They are homeless". Or you could say "They are part of the homeless group" (no one would say it that way but you could). You woudn't say they are the homeless.

  • "You woudn't say they are the homeless."

But I did and gramatically correct.

  • He's a little to enamored with the "science thing" Life has survived on this earth for billions of years without it. There's and old saying, keep it simple stupid.

  • And what a wonderful life that was with all those diseases cavemen had to deal with. Predators and starvation too. Don't you like the internet, tv, videogames, or sports?

You're welcome to live in shit and be stupid but don't expect the rest of us to join you.

  • "You're welcome to live in shit and be stupid but don't expect the rest of us to join you."

There are more free man made hazards introduced by science than there ever were natural dangers.

We have wiped out more species in less time than ever before. We have the power to kill everything on this planet and are quickly succeeding. The item we are using creates billions of tons of trash each year.

We live in the shit we create.

You already belong to the stupid but your a sheeple and do not see it.

  • Bullshit. 95% of all known species that have ever lived went extinct before humanoid species ever existed. Science hasn't figured out anything that nature hasn't already figured out. The sun is a massive nuclear device. Chemical and biological weapons take chemicals and biology from nature. Trash can be decomposed and recycled. And it's strange that if trash is so bad we're not all living on top of trash piles. I use logic to figure things out so I'm a sheeple. Ok.

  • "Bullshit. 95% of all known species that have ever lived went extinct before humanoid species ever existed."

Irrelevant to my point. They're going extinct at rate never before seen.

"Science hasn't figured out anything that nature hasn't already figured out."

    That's because science is natural.

"Trash can be decomposed and recycled."

It "can" but it's not. That is the reality.

Humans are opportunists. That's a fact that won't change. I do not live in fairytale land.

    That's logical.

  • Nature kills 95% of all species and we kill what 1%? Nature's worse.

If science is natural, then it should be a good thing according to you which contridicts your point.

So all trash isn't recycled. So? People aren't taking advantage of the technology to do so. That's people's fault not science's.

You are using YouTube which is technology derived from science to say that science is bad. Ironic, no?

  • I also must note that you say science is bad, but I don't see you renoucing modern life and living off the land. How much trash do you throw out in a day? You're ignoring all the positive aspects of science and it's ability to correct its mistakes.

  • "I also must note that you say science is bad,"

In the scope of living things on this planet it has done far more harm than good. It has allowed a self centered opportunistic species to over run the planet.

Life thrived for billions of years without it.

  • If science has done more harm than good, why are we better off now than 100 years ago or 1000 years ago? Science has made life better for us. All species are self centered and opportunistic. We're just better at it. We use science as one method of survival. It's also the only method that will let life on Earth survive the death of the solar system.

  • "If science has done more harm than good, why are we better off now than 100 years ago or 1000 years ago?"

This is a typically human egocentric view. My statement was objective in it's scope, taking into account all life on the planet and it's history.

"It's also the only method that will let life on Earth survive the death of the solar system."

If life survives the effects of science.

  • "All species are self centered and opportunistic. We're just better at it."

And scientists are oblivious to that fact.

We find new ways of doing things at an exponentially faster rate than human society can cope. That is why we will likely fail, like a dog that runs too fast and tumbles in heap.

  • How are scientists oblivious to that fact? They're oblivious that why they try to educate us on global warming and conservation.

You wouldn't know about any of this if it weren't for those scientists.

  • One doesn't need science to understand the concept of conservation or that is is needed.

Global warming would not have been possible if not for them. With each new door of perceived opportunity comes a host of issues. They most often leap before they look.

"You wouldn't know about any of this if it weren't for those scientists."

That's silly. Anyone can watch the weather.

  • how do u define science?

  • Science in it's pure/simple form is the human trial and error methodical search for knowledge/understanding of how things work.

However how I define it is irrelevant. How others define it is my issue.

    Take 436214's remark

"If more and more people reject science...

That will be our culture.. and we are back to scavagers...."

Science is about objective facts not subjective culture. A human giving imagined qualities to science is not scientific.

Culture is about why, not how. HUGE difference!

  • "Nature kills 95% of all species and we kill what 1%? Nature's worse"

Nature does 100%. We are in control of our portion and species have gone extinct by our actions at a faster rate than ever before by anything else. Science has made it possible.

  • Nature didn't kill 100% of all species. Some are still around. We would've help kill off species with or with out modern science. Modern science has also helped conserve species that would've otherwise died off. Science has mostly good benefits and has some bad. We as humans make mistakes and we can also correct them. Genetic cloning could make it possible to bring back extinct animals. That won't happen in nature.

  • "Nature didn't kill 100% of all species."

For ever species that has ever went extinct nature has been the cause. How could it be otherwise?

"We would've help kill off species with or with out modern science."

    Not at this rate.

"Genetic cloning could make it possible to bring back extinct animals. That won't happen in nature."

Where would you get such a silly idea? Of course it happens in nature. Everything does. Evolution at work.

Unless you believe in the supernatural.

  • Nature has never ever brought back a species that went extinct. EVER.

Look, you're too stupid to even debate with. I'm not continuing this discussion any more.

  • "Nature has never ever brought back a species that went extinct. EVER."

According to you it just may.

  • If more and more people reject science...

That will be our culture.. and we are back to scavagers....

  • "If more and more people reject science...

That will be our culture.. and we are back to scavagers...."

    How silly,

Science is about objective facts. Not about subjective culture. Science did not give rise to culture. We did not come to discover culture through science. It existed long before "science" was science. Rather culture gave rise to science. Science by itself is useless. One needs subjective goals to bring meaning to anything. Otherwise things are meaningless.

  • science = round world.... religion = flat world. What shape is our planet again?

  • "science = round world.... religion = flat world. What shape is our planet again?"

    Science = meaningless facts.

Reality of humans = meaningful subjective thoughts filled with love, wonder, art, joy, elation, fellowship, morals, kindness, caring, sympathy, awe, wisdom,

You know, the stuff of meaning, The REALITY of LIFE.

Now, how flat is your world?
