i guess a fraction of single flare can wipe out the planet. def.the first thing would be fragile 0zone. there could be a connection between erupted flare and the deflected beams.
I read a report about the largest solar flare ever recorded in world history hapend about 2 months ago. It was reported to have blinded the satelite that took the reading out for 15 min and saturated it with radiation. It sounds like the sun is getting mad at us. We should stop killing Iraqi's and Iranians.

i ACTUALLY HEARD A SCIENTIST GIVING A SPEECH TOADY ABOUT HOW THERE IS VERY DISTURBING ACTIVITY IN THE SUN. OTHER SCIENTISTS THAT HAVE GOTTEN TOGETHER TO STUDY THIS BELIEVE THAT CATRINA THE TSUNAMY IN INDIA AS WELL AS OTHER CATRASTOPHIES ARE DUE TO THE SUN'S IRREGULAR ACTIVITY. IT WAS SAID THAT THESE SCIENTIST BELIEVE THAT THERE WILL BE MANY OTHER THINGS SUCH AS THIIN THE WORLD. WHICH WILL CAUSE A TOTAL BLACK OUT IN AS SOON AS THE YEAR 2012.

No. It's a scaled image of Earth shooped onto a photo of the Sun. Mercury isn't that close or that big. You wouldn't believe how big the Sun is.
