ive got a 97 silverado, aftermarket cats, with glass packs, and true duals, it sounds 10x better than a y pipe believe me, i just broke the baffling out of my glass packs today to make them louder lol
I love the way my truck sounds right now, until I can afford true duals they'll stick for now. I have a 72 K-20 pickup with true duals flowmasters super 40's no cats 3 inch exhaust and that sounds sweet, just can't afford it on the Silverado right now
Hmm that's strange since you're only computing half the exhaust. I'm not sure what to tell you I would buy a set of headers and y pipe that comes with the provisions for the o2 sensor, drilling the thin wall header metal might lead to some issues.
Hey man how did you do your 02 sensor. Im putting a set of headers on my 1990 chevy 1500 and my 02 sensor gose in into exhaust manifold but my headers dont have a hole for the sensor. any ideas
Yours goes into the manifolds? Where? Mine went on the bottom of the Y pipe where the 2 pipes met, had a pre-drilled hole for it in the aftermarket Y pipe that I bought.
@mashley6490 you dont need the sensor. mine had the same thing and i left it unhooked. you can check this by just unplugging it and driving it around, if it drives normal, then go for it
Sadly, alot of the 88 - 95 c/k series trucks have the problem of rusting in the same spot, it sucks. Im in the same boat! Guessing its bad coating there during production. Or because its somewhat enclosed on the backside, accum. dirt and mud over time that dont get washed out.
i had a 98 silverado that looked just like that and it was fine. the body was perfect, I took real good care of it, I started to paint it and then had issues and couldnt finish it and never got back to it and so I bought an 07 and sold the 98 about a month ago.
You have to use whatever type of exhaust gaskets your engine require, this year have square port heads so I got performance felt pro gaskets (square) on this truck right now. My 72 I'm about to replace my old gaskets with new copper seal gaskets, and that truck has circular port exhaust heads, so I got the round gaskets. Just depends on your year/engine size ect.
i got my true duals with a stock muffler turned into custom straight pipes that fit around my gas tank and reese hitch for about $250 at my local muffler shop. it was worth every penny

yeah it goes in right above the manifold flange. I was thinking i would just drill and tap the Collector.

chadeyboy 2 years ago
Yeah the setup I have right now is tight though. Maybe one day I'll get duals but I'm satisfied with my no muffler highlfow cat exhaust lol
JetForceF22 2 years ago
I just put my set of these on, piping the rest of the exhaust in as we speak.

chevyeatford 3 years ago
Advanced Auto Parts for like 25 dollars, I drilled 2 holes so it would fit the throttle body, but otherwise it fits great!
JetForceF22 3 years ago

dont get a y pipe...make it true duals...cheaper and easier and tad bit more performance
HPICamaroSS 4 years ago
I wouldn't say cheaper, Because I would have to get custom pipes to go around the gas tank.

Right now I'm running a single outlet exhaust to the passenger side, high flow cat back no muffler. It sounds badass
JetForceF22 4 years ago
x pipe creates exhaust scavenging effect and ads more performance
FORDGTFANATIC 4 years ago
Yeah I thought about that, I'm probably gonna get a straight pipe back to the offset pipe on the passenger side, so I don't have to get custom pipe
