  • Are there any people criticizing her? WELL…they must be the ones on welfare…or on skateboards (anyway...the same thing)...Well let’s be generous with them…

  • Gorgeous, stunning!!!!!!!

    I can't stop watching

  • Goddess!!!

Her violin is terrific! And she really desirve the first place...

  • well I certainly like it. Got goose bumps. She's got a very nice edgy, strong, spirited, musical way of playing it. I think the performance very well matches the piece. To me the Sibelius is so thin, ethereal. For her to use her vibrato, phrasing, timing, etc. the way she does is to me very very impressive. I've heard other faster more even performance, but with less effect on me. This one really conveyed a depth of emotion. It really sounds like Sibelius. Great great job.

  • I find this woman beyond extrordinary. Her sound , her technique, her artistry , very individual and remarkable for one so young. She plays with passion and intensity, I think she is great.

  • Very much emotional. Great performance.

  • Thank you Mayko!

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • I really wanted to pee but I had to wait until this video ended LOL

  • I think that she did a pretty good job. It would have sounded better with a better orchestra, because the orchestra wasn't keeping up with her, and the soloist shouldn't have to modify their tempo to cater to the orchestra.

  • the orchestra is never really good with these competitions

sure its the tchaik comp but still

these guys gotta play for like a million contestents it seems like they just half ass it

  • Great!!!!!!!! Her melody was so long!!!!

  • you are stupid. that piece may be hard with all the technical pizzes and what not, but can you play the last rose of summer with that much emotion that mayuko put into her sibelius?

  • Sibelius isn't hard?

I beg to differ. It requires quite a bit of skill to pull off...

  • haha, well i think that thais meditation should be hard, if is really well played, my teacher always tell me that, and believe me, i´ve played really hard things if you are talking of technic, but music is not all about virtuosism, and virtuosism is not the hardest thing.

  • not fast enough

    then got too excited lol

  • Careful at 5:25 now, don't get an aneurism.

  • I am a violinist, and I must say, this is a terribly incredibly hard concerto to play, people are so quick to criticise, why don't you try to get to the finals of a tough competition and play this concerto and 10 others!!! IT'S NOT THAT EASY!!! I CAN TELL YOU!!!

This girl has talent and guts!!!

try standing in front of thousands of people and play, then tell me how fast you S*** your pants!

  • Maybe this is too harsh, but I don't really like the ends of her phrases and it kind of feels dead when she plays, like the emotion she is trying to get across to the audience isn't actually there, like she is just trying to make up emotion in every and any way that she can.

  • I think you don't know what you're talking about. Mayuko Kamio plays very emotional! And anyway it's incredible how people here on youtube judge!!! PLAY BETTER!!

and if you don't know her personally - you're not in the position to say such words.... :-)

  • The guy has a right to criticise, lay off.

  • ah it wasn't just me! lol i agree, I thought that the orchestra did a poor job at this competition. They weren't together, and had difficulty following the soloists' tempo changes.

  • In 8:34 the orchestra should change their chord, but they didn't. And from 09:10, the orchestra didn't support the violinist. Orchestra is horrible.
