So basically Family Guy made a "unit" mistake in the application of parsecs as a unit of money, when in Star Wars it used the term as some sort of unit of time "Making the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs". And Star Wars was using it incorrectly as a unit of time when really its a measure of distance...talking about a total fubar.

Explanations on how it makes sense have all been post-hoc. Which is fine...books and movies are up for varying but valid interpretations even if the original script was written under the misconception that parsecs were a measure of time and not distance. But even if it's fair to make these interps...the dude said he didn't get this joke, so you explained. But the joke isn't that the girls don't know what a parsec is. >_>

@WhiteJarrah makes sense if the kessel run skimmed a black hole and the closer you got the less distance you do but need more speed to brack the black holes gravity. fact is the kessel run skims a cluster of black holes so distance is a factor as slower ships have to take a longer arc around the maw (thats the black hole cluster)
