@MarthaMartian In answer your question to , Martha is meaning of March in Russian. He is sending his messages in celebration of kurasawa's birthday for Director Akira Kurosawa . he said that Kurosawa will be 78 years old in March.

Is Maxim Munzuk, star of Dersu Uzula, still alive? When was this video taken? I have the book and the video of this amazing film. I am American, and am unable to understand the language or subtitles. Nice to see him in real (reel) person. Thank you! : - )

Maxim Munzuk passed away in July, 1999.

Thank you for your information that Maxim died 10 years ago, TolyKhooray. I know his spirit lives on. He was talented, and his character Dersu is my favorite in all of film.
