  • this is the explanation of the main riff of this song ... the tuning is open A (E;A;E;A;C#;e).

  • I know this is an old vid, but, thank you so much for sharing this.

I have had your main vid favourited for years and it's only today that I have finally bought a resonator.

I honestly can't thank you enough for the time you have spent uploading this. It really is helping me a lot. :-)

  • HI Jesse what kind of string you use 010,11 because i think my string is gonna break

  • Hi Jesse what kind of string you use 010<011 because i think my string is gonna break

  • THANKS for SHOWING your riff!

  • Hey there,

Jesse - Great tune. I've watched your crossroads blues too and I love it absolutely.

But - Im just a bloody beginner in gutar playing.

So whats definately your tuning ?

I mean - what is the tuning from each string ?

    Greetz from germany

    Hippie

  • Thanks!

  • Great stuff jesse. but common tune ur guitar more! it's too sharp.

  • thank you so much.... I never took the time to figure out how to do a E7 in open-tuning, but now I know :D

  • I meant open G for the guitar. Got to this in Hawaii, only found out later it was such a common tuning in good old-fashioned blues.

  • Thanks for showing this lick. I actually only play the guitar in open (Hawaiian Taro Patch) and various electric mandolins in open C, Again, thanks for sharing the good work!

  • is there not a way to play this in standard tuning?

  • Got it!

But where I can get the cat? :-))

  • In the vid of you playing the song live your in open A.

  • Thanks for showing us how to play this. Your guitar is a half step down. D# G# D# G# C D#. It's doesn't really matter unless everyone wants to play in exactly how you're playing it. It's the exact same thing in Open A.

  • i still cant understand whats goin on.. neone help me?

  • and i feel as if hes not in open A but half step down from open A

  • No its open A. Not a half step down. Ive been practicing this for a week now. Im getting better every day. My fingers are shorter than his and have trouble keeping the slide on. I guess ill have to get a smaller slide.

  • Is this the same tuning as the version with the slide?

  • YOu should give this guy credit just for holding that dang thing up........gheesh its HEAVY bro. But once you get this riff you cant stop...I got more feeling out of this that anything i played........

  • ill be playing this.

  • fuck, i was tryin so hard to get this on my guitar after watchin your vid.... now i click on your profile and you explain..

    anyway, thank you!

  • hey Jesse, will you teach us the awesome licks with the slide you played in the other video too??? Please!

  • Jesseblues your the man! Thanks Thanks alot bro!

  • Man...I still dont get the tuning. Can someone just give it to me straight. E A E A C# E dosen't sound right

  • what you have is close

    E-A-C#-E-A-E

    is open a

    purrty sure

    try it and tell me

  • You are wrong, the guy had it right the first time. Open A is the same as open G wich goes DGDGBD, only its a whole step higher.

I'm currently trien to do it in Open G wich is a bit easier to fret because of the lower spring tention but its still a real struggle, but then again. Nobody said it would be easy

  • Why don't you just tune it to Open G and use a capo?

  • because he wanted to use the 12th fret (as most people do), and also it makes it easier not having to worry about that stuff

  • mr ezekiel....the tuning with bass e to a is the a bar chord open tunin...the one he said is the a open chord open tunin.....so instead of tunin d,g and b up 2 frets u tuned the d 7frets and blah......

  • sounds very high with me to but no broken strings :P could just me not gettin te strumming :P

  • so what is the tuning then???

  • you are a saint! for posting this. biggest thanks..

Love the video of you playing this tune.

  • aint dodros fun?

  • Holy shit,oh my god ,it's not the barre A,but the normal A:-)..What can I say;I hope you finger is ok..:-)Best wishes&take care ,jesse

  • ah! it all makes sense now. nice one.

  • Thanks Jesse, I'll have a go at this on my acoustic when I have a few hours. Whats the slaping sound in between notes? Do you just hit the guitar with your palm?

  • Yes:-)Take care,Jesse

  • incredible....well, wifey will probably have a calf...but I GOTTA get one of those National guitars...you've put the mojo on me....LOL

  • simple and real nice man good stuff

  • Wow!! very very cool!!! Thanks for the lesson!!! are you using Open E, or D

  • Open A ,but before you tune it,I tuned the guitar a whole step down:-)
