door is a bit wide. I favor wider vents and a cover made from the lid over the fuel door, it acts much more like a real stove but can get very hot if not watched closely.
When I was a kid, I always heard: "Don't eat or drink out of a can, because you'll get 'tin poisoning'!" ...
Well, I'm now pretty sure that had more to do with the solder in the seams than the "tin" itself, but is it really safe to drink/eat out of tin cans now? I'm sure it's safe 'BEFORE' the fire burns the coating off, ...but after that?
I (like thousands more out here) am trying to make a small tin can stove myself.
I am confident that it is safe or I would not eat canned food. Most canned foods are brought to a boil and then sealed at the manufacturer. To be safe, do not overheat the can with too little in it. As long as there is sufficient liquid in the can it will not melt the can into the food or beverage.
Nice great design i made one it was ok boiled water fast and stuff but, it rusted very soon after i made it. So what im gona do is buy chicken wire/mesh and get hooks on it and make a small circle and use that to sit my pot on over a fire.
Just an idea for you! If you make a a mold around the tins, with lets just say Chicken wire, then use Fire cement to go round it,lets just say about 1cm thick, it will last a life time. Mines like ten years old,its still as good as the day I made it,but its a bit black though now. The tin has all rusted/coroded/burnt away. This takes about a year or so depending on use. It only ways about 2-3lb so really light.
Good tip, I'll definetly try it with one. Yes, they do tend to burn up after a season. I keep a few pre-made and ready to go, but, it's good to have a long term one you can depend on.
Thanks, I was thinking on adding air an additional air vent to this one, but tested it without. It has 18 small drill holes in the sides used for adjusting the cup lower.
i would have made the hole smaller

Good question, thanks for your input.

Let me know how it works out for you. These stoves will wear out quickly. I keep a few ready to go and save up cans in the garage for later.

Man, At 0:51 - 0:59 is a good shot of your surrounding just where are you. It seems that you have a lot of dead and dry wood in the background.

Yes, I am in a heavily wooded area. I have plenty of wood to test out my stoves before I settle on a design.

I carry a little cooker in the vehicle and when I go anywhere outdoors, I like to eat and you never know.

Awsome! Just when I am about to buy a lil Coleman cooker. This weighs nothing and can go in my pack. Now that I saw this I have to see the design!

Thanks, I like these little buggers. I have several sizes and duplicates of each. They are easy to discard and replace when needed.

Heck , I was gonna go with Jim Falks design for a portable wood stove , but it looks like this one would work just as well. Thank you.

Simple but to the point! I like it! Have you tought about adding an air vent on the other side to help with feeding the fuel oxygen? Nice Stove.

Kamo Very Nice Setup, I really like this design. Looks very easy to make. Keeping it simple is always the best I have found.
Thanks for sharing.
Also like the way you had added the handle and was able to remove it for storage.
