  • These guys are like the American version of The Super Furry Animals.

Very unique blends & a heavy leaning towards the melodic.

Not afraid to try any path.

  • Wow my mom is a good director!:D

  • A sonoridade alcançada pelos The Shins é estimulante no universo pop da atualidade tão pobre em coisas realmente consistentes. Esses carinhas vão longe com suas canções cheias de musicalidade.

  • <3 3:14 on....

  • @littykitty101 definitely

  • @gman1225 LOL

  • sannajaja.blogg .se/

  • After looking at James Mercer Keyser Soze keeps on popping into my head

  • @MichaelJLgs19p Totally. Especially in this video, I think.

  • Nature is the most valuable what we have!!!! ;-)

  • i'm in love with their first three albums but im excited to hear the new direction he's taking the band. im convinced anything james mercer touches is gold.

  • For some reason I am reminded of the Beatles upon hearing the opening lines of this song.

Shrubbs, he does look like Kevin Spacey! I was wondering why he looked so familiar.

  • I agree with extremepanda but I couldn't care less if more or less people heard them because I can hear them so I am happy and content :] tho it would be better for the band its self if more people heard tho I do believe a band this amazing will eventually become more main stream.

  • llallalallala :PPPPPPPPPPP

  • brilliant chorus, actually great song ;)

  • So this is what nirvana is like, so relaxing.

  • MY FAVE SONG

    !!!!!!!!!

  • *sigh* i dont like myself for not finding them sooner :D

  • Their songs are so expressive.. if you didn't have the video, you can totally be taken away with the sound itself.. good stuff!

  • by far my favorite shins song.

  • The lead singer of this band moved in next door to me in Portland about 6 months ago, and I haven't said one word to the guy. He seems nice, he has a wife and kid and stuff, and he seems down to earth, but I just don't want to bother the guy. He makes pretty cool music though, I would like to pick his brain about the ideas in this videos though, they are pretty unique.

  • omg speak to him u got the chance to have a famous guy next door !!

I wish i could speak to him lol and anyway he's your neighbour ! neighbours speak to each other it's normal lol :P

  • Lucky :)

  • damn..now THATS lucky. Love this band.

  • that is so cool! i love the shins :)

  • I know, aren't The Shin's great?! My dad lives in Portland (I live about 2 hours from there) and he says we should go to a concert, preferably on of theirs. I wonder if they play in the Crystal Ballroom...?

  • oh, i'd love to see them in concert! i don't think they were touring this year...idk though.

  • If you see him just tell him he looks like Kevin Spacey and see what he says

  • you're right, he does look like that guy, crazy

  • As long as you don't 'bug' him he won't mind, just talk in a neighbourly fashion :)

  • you live next door to him and you haven't said a word for 6 months????

  • I talked to him a few times about neighborhood stuff, but it's like the mechanic that gets hassled to fix everybodies car on his days off, or the contractor who has everybody asking him for estimates in his free time, I don't wanna bother the guy with fan shit, ya know? Besides, he's in a new band now, Broken Bells, and I actually don't like it nearly as much as the Shins stuff. In fact, I am pretty sure the Shins are broken up and are done. He was the the talent in the band anyway.

  • @budahgee3 The Shins aren't broken up. Broken Bells is a side project for James and Danger Mouse (from Gnarls Barkley). I love Broken Bells, btw. The Shins will be back, but Broken Bells was just something those two wanted to do as a break from their main projects. Truth is, I think it will become a second main project for both. They were already working on their second album before the first even came out and I think the two make a great natural team.

  • @bluechao I like how you say "truth is", right before you lay down a guess about what the future is of their collaboration is, like it's a fact. Your whole comment is cloud talk, guessing, and opinion. In MY opinion, Broken Bells isn't very good. I don't like the way it sounds. That's just me, that isn't law or a fact, I just happen to not care for it, especially compared to the Shins stuff. Oh, and as you put it, BTW and TRUTH IS, the Shins are done, gone for good, and that's a fact, you'll see

  • @budahgee3 the truth is, I was typing fast and editing on the fly and probably should have edited out my "truth is" statement before I hit "Post," but I didn't, it's no biggie. I've read/heard interviews with Mercer and by all those indications, the Shins will be back, maybe by 2011. He just wanted a break. I'm not guessing.

Interesting side note, both Gnarls Barkley and The Shins actually started as side projects, but they got so popular they became main projects.

  • @budahgee3

What. The. Fuck. You live next door to James Mercer!?

  • @ybrik222 yeah

  • @budahgee3

You craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy. Man, if I lived next to him, I'd be like "Oh snaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap!".

  • @ybrik222 yeah I like the guy and all, he is obviously a talented musician, but I don't really wanna fall all over the guy, ya know? The dude writes catchy pop songs, he didn't cure cancer, perspective man. I mean, I don't think he would appreciate living right nextdoor to a gushing super fan, and I don't idolize any man, gotta make your own way and be your own biggest fan ya know? That being said, I do like that I live next to a very humble famous person who is still a relative unknown.

  • @budahgee3

Yeah, I see what you mean, but I wouldn't say he's unknown.

  • @budahgee3 Good of you not to bother him, I suppose, but I too would be totally itching to get songwriting tips from him!

  • @budahgee3 i grew up in that house. it belonged to my grandparents before he bought it, and i freaked out when i discovered that james mercer bought their house

  • @xPaperShredder THAT'S AWESOME!!!!!

  • @budahgee3 dont bother him but you should tell him good job from us all. im sure hed appreciate it, thats if you still live next to him. peace

  • @budahgee3 Are you sure it's not Kevin Spacey?

  • @4nic8urSister

Yes I am sure. When I did talk to him briefly once, he said, "Hi, my name is James. Can I plant a wysteria on the phone poll on your part of the side yard?" So I assume his full name is James Mercer, and probably not Kevin Spacey, plus he appears to be much younger than Kevin Spacey would be.

  • @budahgee3 Read the works of St. Simon beforehand. Then you can probably share some ideas on philosophy and show you have an intellect.

  • This is such a fantastic video- I'm surprised there aren't more hits on it!

  • they have more hits, when sub pop uploaded this video

  • Wonderful

    ^_^

  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • i love the shins! i can't believe none of my friends have heard of them. thell all your friends about the shins. they're a great band.

  • no dont if they get to big then they will turn into a band like blink 182 or the killers there good where they are

  • A band's greatness shouldn't be based off of popularity either way. A popular band can be worse then an unknown band, but you have to remember that just because a band is "popular", doesn't mean that they're bad. I think that the Shins should be more popular because they're a great band and more people should be exposed to their amazing music.

  • @lynxprincess Yay Portland music!!!!!!!!! They are just as good live!!! Buy all their music!!!!! (I command you~~~~~) :)

  • where do they plug in the amp?

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!...........,very nice. Thank you!
