On EARTH wars are not only fought for land, or slaves, but for ideology and religion. My theory: America was invaded militarily on 9/11/01. But we are also being invaded culturally and politically. It is important to understand that it isn't the entire Islamic populace that is responsible for the demise of Flight 93, but only the terrorists and Al Qaeda on that plane. While it is true that their borders are bloody, it still remains that most people inside the countries on both sides do not relish bloody warfare. Most people would not enjoy seeing their family and brethren killed for any reason, even a religious dispute.

While the loathing of the minorities indubitably still exists, the design of such a memorial would do little to help or undermine their efforts. I doubt that the design of the Flight 93 memorial will expedite Al Q progress towards any WMD's.

The Flt93 Memorial design should not be seen as resembling a mosque, but a memorial. To cancel the architecture over a resemblance to an Islamic Mosque is succumbing to terrorism itself. If we are to fear using Islamic architecture because of one minority group, then their job of spreading fear has already been accomplished.

It is unlikely that the Flt93 would be used as a Mecca. Flight 93 was a patriotic triumph over terrorism. There are less patriotic places that AlQ would rather convene at.

This man is blithely unaware of the fact that it is specifically stated in the rules regarding the Flight 93 Memorial design competition that NO ISLAMIC OR TERRORIST MEMORIALIZING FEATURES ARE ALLOWED. If you asked for me to explain my "fuzzy" logic, I would have been happy to do so, but you seemed more intent on further explaining your own words. My original point before I got sidetracked was to say that banning this design will lead to banning of other "similar" designs that might relate to Islamic architecture. Such legislature would process into effective limitations of modern architecture.

Simply, if a building resembling something politically dangerous was banned, then using the same argument, many other buildings would similarly be banned. Using an extension of the logic, architectural variety will be limited and many designs that you may deem safe shall be illegal.
