Ironicly, the Gamer series of Antec seriously fail for having big GFX cards such as my gtx295 so if you're going big, this case is just ace have it myself.
I really like this slick design, but it's quite expensive for a no PSU case, also the door doesn't seem solid and i don't see the interest to have one if i want to use frontal fans what is necessary for a good cooling.
I think, i will go for a simple, sober and cheaper "Antec Three Hundred!"
I decided to buy the P182 because it is very quite and still have good cooling. Tho if you want to overclock or if you are a temperature freak, get the 902.
The pre-installed Antec TriCool fans are terrible, in particular the fan at the top of the case. It rattles. All fans are loud even at "low" setting. Good case, overpriced, no PSU, immediately useless fans
i dont know why but i dont like this case at all, it looks teribly cheep.I would rather go with the 900 or if i would really have to go with this one i would go with the p182se
the upper hdd case wont fit in when using verry large gfx.
there is NO space for a 120 mm fan in front of the lower hdd case. you can put a 92mm fan there. decoupleing it acuusticaly from the rost is difficult, but possible.
the upper fan is not can can not be decoupled from the case, so this fan will be loud no matter how expensive. to make the case silent, remove it and cover the hole.
Its exactly 10.5" from the rear of the case to the HD case when you install a hard drive. Measure the card and see how long it is. See my review of this case if you wanna see it with stuff installed.
Could i install a fan on the hard drive cage compartment if i removed the compartment? I want to install a 9800gtx but will need to remove the compartment.
I believe a 9800GTX will fit. It'd extend go into one of the 3.5" bays though. Also, I like the door because when I had my old computer, it was under my desk. I found myself accidentally kicking the power button. So I now have a case with a very strong aluminum door held with two magnets. Now there's no way I turn off my system! (But my toenails scratch the door alot. ;)
Mounting vertically or Horizontally doesn;t make a difference as long as the hard drives are mounted properly. The hard drive will only skip if you jerk or bump the case against something and the hard drive is mounted unsecurly whether it be vertical or horizontal.
Again, mounting your harddrives vertically is the stupidest thing you can do. Trust me, they will die on you sooner than the horizontally mounted ones. This is therefore a stupid design.
Well, I use this case for my game-system and I was forced to install them vertically due to my 8800GTX taking alot of place. I have had no problems with my harddrives(and I hope I don't get any).
OF COURSE HORIZONTAL IS ALWAYS BEST! This is not space, there is no vacuum here, we have gravity, you know?
Trust me, it still is a problem. Of course, no brand will tell you that, because all they want is for your disk to wear off in 5 years time so they sell more disks. You're really dumb if you don't know why vertical mounting is not the best option.
Do a search on Scott Moulton here on YouTube, listen to his talks and learn how and why harddisks are still most stable and long-lasting when horizontal.
@JTMarlin8 By the way, I'm from 1966, so I have a little more experience than you think administrating data and managing HDDs. I'm in IT for over 25 years already.
I agree, I'd rather have them horizontally. It's especially strange that they don't seem to know where to go with this; Half of them vertical, half of them horizontal? WTF? Indeed, horizontal is best.
@Meowbay I am using this case now for 3 years+ and I have currently 3hdd's vertically and before even had 4. Not one of them has died yet. This is the first case I have brought where the case actually has a fan to cool the hdd's, a vertically cooled hdd will last longer than a horizontal uncooled hdd.
@chrcoluk That is incorrect, a horizontally mounted harddrive will *always* cause less internal friction. Think of it as a turntable. If you would turn that sideways, not only would gravity pull the arm and needle to one side, it takes more power to hold it and bring it where it should be. Vertical mounting of harddrives is asking for bad blocks and premature deterioration. Cooling has nothing to do with this.
but I purchased the 900 rather than this.. my friend owns this case and it gave him a hard time when installing his 8800 GTS because of it's length.
the 900 has more cooling and has more inner space. but this has the handy feature of a door and more antivibration. how ever, the 900 has rubber grips on the bottom of the psu spot for anti-vib.
Alright thanks, after looking at some more reviews I will proberbly go for this instead of the 900, just cause it is much more quiter / has more space.
Also just wondering if you could comment on the ammount of noise it makes with the stock fans on medium. Thanks
How many fans total can this case hold? I'm buying two extra for the front but can it hold any more than that? I'm using a 5.25" bay cooler for my hard drive so I do not need either of the hard drive cages
There is a major issue with tight distance between the newer bulkier video card and motherboard apparently. Can this case support two video cards without interfering heat dissipation and motherboard?
The only problem with the bulkier video cards, is that if you install them in this case, you cannot install a fan or hard drives in the removable hdd-tray at the upper compartment.

But remember, the door can be swung all the way over unlike other case with doors to the 5.25" bays, so it won't be as annoying.
