Some of these look real nice. I had a 1989 Firebird Formula with the Tuned port and 5 speed. 67k miles. I finally had the shell cut up and hauled to the scrapyard 2 days ago. Parted out and sold everything else and made a decent amount. It just wasn't reliable and nobody out there is willing to pay much even for a nice 3rd gen. Pretty much just hillbillies and white trash bought up everything.

in 1989 i bough an 86 iroc with blown 305motor. Gave it to a friends dad who built high performance motors and he dropped in a wickedly beefed up 350 but with some mods managed to keep the 5 speed. Damn thing was a monster on the street. Ran high 11's to low 12's. Sold it in May to rich 19 yr old for $22k. spoiled brat just had to have it. Picked up an 88 iroc for winter project.

I just refer to it as an SUV because the 2010 Camaro weighs as much as a truck and rides on a platform shared with 4000+ lb sedans like the CTS. The car has deviated so far from the pony car concept that I don't consider it a Camaro at all.

Hefty? I don't know the meaning of that. IROC's rolled off the assembly line only in the 3,200 pound range. My iroc has almost a completely gutted interior, I put the plastic interior panels back on just for show, bare metal isn't all too classy. I'm in the 3,100 pound range now, since I've taken out the backseats, and the hatch area sound proofing, which is extremely dense.

I'll be in the sub 3,000 pound range, down with Honda Civics once I have fiberglass doors and fenders.

@OTL93 I actually kind of like the 5th gen better than the 4th gen, actually. It's cool how they took design cues from the first generation Camaro, but subtle enough to where it isn't overly retro styled. I don't really like the rounded style of the 4th gen that much, muscle cars should have harder lines in the body style. They pretty much lost that when they went with the 4th gen body style. It looks more like an import tuner than a muscle car. Just my opinion.

I got an 83 Camaro Crossfire. Ive had 4 3rd gens so far. Love them. for the money you pay you can get a decent camaro. everyone at my school says how crappy they are and how slow they are. Man, an iroc came with 300 horses with the tpi. thats good enough to get them cars moving. the speedo goes of to 145 for god sakes. my 83 has the dual speedo with mph and km/h and that only goes up to 85 but the car will do waaaaaay past 85 miles an hour

i've got one to. 305tbi. did a little work to it. limited slip swap, 3" exhuast, headers, 16 iroc wheels. i just bought 245/50/16 cooper zeons. that sticks to the road like glue now. i mean its increadible what a few simple mods can do. the car handles better and is actaully noticeably quicker now that is not spinning the tires.

for the weight of these cars the torque to weight ratio is pretty good of the time any where from 220lb to 290lb
