I had a game on mine, cant remember what it was called but it was awesome.. it was so simple... just a ball which you moved across the screen and you could jump with it, you couldnt hit the squares, some moved some didnt, you couldnt hit the diamonds either, it was like a grey ball all in 2d obv! and had like white dots round the edge. Anyone know what it was called? I want it back and I WANT to play it again! its been something like 20 years since I did!
@Geokinkladze Nope just check that out definately not that. It was 2D simple side on 2D Graphics the most basic, the ball was a grey circle with white dots round the edge. If I got to see it again it would totally bring back my youth from when I was about 6 or 7, it was one of the first games I played! Nostalgic overdrive
@Dennoman2007 -1 on you for not also noting that it should've been "All we have left now is nostalgia" rather then "All we have left now are the nostalgia". This clip was published in 2006, do you think you were the first to notice the writing was wrong? It's not a goddamn spelling contest.
152 "dislike" people are obviously people that have no idea where it all started and why we have what we have today. If it wasn't for all of this innovative and extremely creative C64 stuff we would not have all of the great things we have now in the way of gaming. Just as this video says, though, the gaming is not about games any more. It has veered of course into something totally alien to what it used to be and what it was intended to be. How sad.
I disagree, there is alot of great modern games and game music with soul and character, and I bet the kids today will say the same thing about the games from their youth and feel just as nostalgic...
@TheSpyProduction1 I dunno where you'll find it unless you can still buy the album of their site, but the commando track sounds very much like Instant Remedy, who did a few of the tunes in this vid. checkout RKO(dot)com for c64 mixes like these.
This doesn't sound anything like the C64. Why would you make a tribute video to Commodore64 music, using some random synthesizer dance music instead of actual C64 music? How are people gonna know what C64 music is like? That's like making a tribute video to Ford using Toyotas, for example.
@Mash4096 why don't u grow a set of eyes don't u read what it said spanner I guess u never so maybe u should grow up u lil ding and read what it said at the beginning
omg, youtube just loadet the first 10 seconds and i was beating the "like" button :D thats so true...the graphics of new games are just gourgues, but the lack of spirit and soul is tremendous! Games are pushed toghether in a few weeks or months, but it isn't story that stands in the foreground...its a shame...
@bartosx How does that make any sense if Giana sisters is a rip off of Mario? The Mario, Battlefield, and Street fighter games have brought something inovative at somepoint during each of their series. All the games you've mentioned that "they have," have great music along with better gameplay than the games "you have." Games have gotten better with time. Not worse. Play Portal and tell me thats not inovative.
So great an intro, so great purpose, and all ruined by techno-music, where we were expecting SID. Such a shame. Please, do make this same video, with real SID music, and watch the view's go up :)
@georgemargaris I'm half-agree. Yes, he should use originals, but then again I think it's cool that he used remixes. That way he show everyone that these games deserves good remixes. I like these remixes, and I'm not really into remixes.
@1337rofl ok, Maybe I overreacted... but that overly simple pop tekkno music plus the cheesy intro voice, and then the blatantly ignorant spelling mistakes
... well all that doesnt work for me.
C64 music means SID-Chip... If the Chip-sound is missing, its like you are getting married and forgot to invite your bride...???
LOL, I am half joking, still, the melodies are CULT!!!
@georgemargaris Haha, wouldn't that be awesome? Getting married, but forgot to invite the bride. I see your point, and I agree. There should be some C64 noises in the background indeed.
I was told something really cool about piracy back then. Some Radio stations would simply announce the game they were gonna give you and all you had to do, was to take your tape recorder to record, and play the game :D THATS what i call leeching !
The vast majority of like RPGs, Adventures, and Sims could NOT be played any other way but on a computer, which was one of the advantages of having a computer (C64 hehe) for a game-machine.
And of course it was very much about Experimentation--how could it have been otherwise? Personal Computers were a new thing and only so much was known about them and what they could do. This continues to this day, albeit to a lesser extent.
At the time, computers were thought of rather more Scientifically, and what you're seeing in this video is just a minute sampling of the beginnings of the practical application of Computer Science for--and by--the Public.

You shouldnt apoligize for the bad play that never bothered me while watching this video. Must ve watched it over 50 times now you enriched youtube with an awesome display what c64 was all about back then in the good old days, and you brought a smile to my face on so many ocasion with this video..
Was gilt die Wette? Denn soviel Mühe konnten sich nur die wahnsinnigen Programierer der alten Computer machen.

Im only 12 years old and currently own a Commodore 64 from my grandparents. I have learned to code and use programs on the C64. It is a amazing machine! Awesome gaming platform! Long live the C64!!!
@ExopodSoftware .I remeber those days some guy sold games on cassete about 150 games on 1 ,the makers colndnt make much money i guess -but anyway games was overpriced then by much. They could have sold much by going down in price but the industry acted like donkeys and retards much like now.
I played Commodore 64 in period between 1989-1991. I was about 5-7 years old than, I can remember that I play some formula, Schinobi Ninja and similiar stuff...all my neighbourhood was at my place and enyojing playing Commodore 64 together, games was an audio tapes... :)
I think that the same game was somewhat better on c64 than on PC. Street Rod... and Outrun. they had better graphics on pc but c64 had better sound (music) and playability.. IMHO
Old memories.... I sold my c64 long time ago, and i still regret that.. Anyway, there are pretty good emulators nowadays, so i still play those games sometimes... :)
Im one of the few of the "Kids" who actually played a C64.
I loved it my faforite game was Ghost Busters. And then the bios of it crashed after 20 years. I still have all the games on a emulator though. And no these where not the real C64 songs but remakes still an awsome video though.
first of all, the comoodore was about graphics .. second, it was about capitalism .. most sold computer ever and third and most imprtant .. what idiot put this silly techno track onto the video.. gross
