  • This videos of Runways deserved a better quality =)

  • Should have been as Big, as Guns and Roses!!!

  • HHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The JOAN JETT IS LIKE Kristen Stewart at Minute 3:07

  • HHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

The JOAN JETT IS LIKE Kristen Stewart at Minute 3:09

  • I'm 15 and I love the excitement of The Runaways when they sing, they really liked what they did ;D

  • COWGIRL CHERIE :D

  • I think this is 1 of my top 10 favs from The Runaways!!

  • I luv Joan in the beginning xD LUV THE RUNAWAYS!!!!!! <3 <3 <3

  • She wears the cowboy hat while sing American Nights.. haha nice :)

    gotta love Cherie

  • The limo thing was just to make them look like Rockstars. In reality they were driven to the concert hall by a smelly guy (they called Stinky) in a broken down van. The hired limo was waiting for them only 2 blocks from the concert hall because Kim Fowley didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. Read the book "Neon Angel" by Cherie Curry. The poor girls never saw a dollar, everything went to Kim Fowley. Sometimes they had to beg so he would give them some money to buy a Burger or cigarettes.

  • the girls were only 16 years old when they got together......I think they are amazing.....girls couldn't pull this off today......

  • they are the rocks! better than all the male band at this old time!

  • ahhh even through the video you can feel so much energy. i wish i was there!!

  • two words: fucking badass!

  • I love how cherie picks up the mic stand

  • cherie & lemmy are the only people ive ever seen make a cowboy hat work in rock & roll

  • 9 justin bieber loving fags didn't like this

  • first album was the best

  • @Peter1999 I liked Queens of noise the best.i think this was mi 3rd fav

  • People are desperate for new music like this, watch it will happen soon.

  • @JelloFarming I really hope so =(

  • @JelloFarming which is why we play it lol

  • this is a best band ever!!!!!!

  • Back music seriously mattered. I have nothing else to say.

  • @mtlsixshooter i kno everything is jus overrated now, like b4 the headline in mags were "joan jett number 1 hit" or something now its "ashton cheated on demi again" ughh!! n everything tht matters now is fashion!! *cough* lady gaga, katy perry, miley cyrus.ugh

  • @demigrl21 - Ur so right demigirl. This is when bands mattered and not manufactured. These girls made it with Blood, Sweat and Tears and that is why the mystique has held it's own through time. Today has no soul, today everything is commercialized and run on a corporate level. There will never be another Alice Cooper, there will never be anyone to match the Rolling Stones and long lost are the Guitar Gods who left their mark such as Randy Rhoads. I can only listen to the stuff that once wuz.

  • @mtlsixshooter yea.i play bass n iswear i c mi future having a band hopefully all girl n all of us tryna make real rock or punk or glam rock ;p.im deff gonna cover alot of runaways song cuz there my fav band ever!! n i wana knock out all the overtated pop like gaga, bieber, taylor swift, selena gomez.there just noise!!!

  • The famous black cowboy hat !!!!!! I've been looking for this everywhere!! thanks for uploading!!! =]

  • "Girls have balls, they're just higher up." -Joan Jett.

  • This is the real rock. This isn't wear jeans and get crazy makeup its the actitude, its the fucking music, the fucking rock and roll!

  • Cherie & Joan's personas were noticeably different but both essential and integral to the band. Cherie was more like Daltrey to The Who, Plant to Zep or Jagger to The Stones. Joan more like Jimmy Page, or Pete Townshend by comparison. The Runaways held on for 2 more LPS after Cherie & Jackie left - but it was this fivesome captured LIVE here that was clearly the most magical. I wish they would reunite and do a tour. If The Who & The Stones can go on after losing a founding member they can too!

  • @aqualungtx it would be kinda difficult for them to reunite since SAndy WEst is dead. and Jaxkie Foxx is now a lawyer and wouldn't even let them use her name in the movie. needless to say most of them have moved on.

  • @ClarissaRissapissa Yes obviously most have long known that Sandy West is dead, that is why I referenced the bands I did which reformed and flourished both on tour and in studio despite the deaths of founding members. It's a shame about the bickering and division between Jett, Fox, and Ford - but Vickie Blue was also a Runaways bassist and if Jackie Fox isn't willing or able - there are other possiblities. Unfortunately a reunion will probably never happen but I'm just a fan dreaming of what if?

  • @aqualungtx Cherie aimed to be like Bowie, and Joan aimed to be Suzi Quatro. But your comment was very inspirational. :D

  • Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • even in the past Joan had ultimate control on stage!

  • Litão é foda!!!!!!!

  • No girls rocked like this before them. They were ahead of their time. And they weren't even old enough to drink legally, lol

  • I have a bootleg of the japanese concert and tv spots from japan, and a bunch of albums, yes children VINYL,,, I used to play em for ppl and always get the jawdrop response, like wow theyre 16 theyre female theyre in japan owning the country, and most of all this is good music kinda punk kinda metal(70s)kinda pop,I hope the movie gives them the recognition they deserve,I have a picture disc signed by Lita Id like to get the rest to sign one of these days ,RIP Sandy West

  • Rock On!!!!!!!!!!

  • how these 5 chicks played with their hair down, is something i'll never know.

  • I think the Donna's sound is highly infulenced by them. THey are the one band I would most compare to the Runaways.

  • My fave Runaways song behind Dead End Justice.

  • Do the Donnas count them as an influence, cause I see a lot of this in their style.

  • Sandy west the drummer died of lung cancer at the age of 47.rip sandy.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again, had they had a good manager that knew how to promote their kind of sound and image like a Shep Gordon or Bill Aucoin the Runaways would have been massive!

  • now this is hardrock! i cant stand the shit they have today. why cant it be more like this? i love Cherie, she's a total fucking badass!!

  • @hpXtwilightX96

i agree man! fucking jb nd all that shit, their all fakes! this is pure hard rock than that pussy crapola

  • I've noticed, though, in their videos and bootlegs I've heard, that Joan was always the one who talked to the audience in-between songs. Cherie rarely ever said a word. Joan was clearly the leader of the band.

  • @fallspeed

cherie used to speak to the audience a lot but yes joan spoke a lot and she was the leader

    cherie was scared in japan

  • Scared of what?

  • of the situation in japan.. it overwhelmed her.. she totally freaked out ..

  • i know they say Joan started the band and she was the leader but it kinda seems like Cherie became the leader, because she is the lead singer and all. Idk but to the unknown eye it seems like cherie is the leader

    love them both.

  • In a way, all the girls were leaders. They've had as many legendary solo singers as The Eagles but The Runaways have balls.

  • @rizzo3593 Just because she was out front when they performed doesn't mean she lead the band. That is just the role of a singer. The same is true in any band. Joan Jett was by far the main creative force behind the band, other than their producer

  • Well Cherie was the face of the band and she was one of the first truly aggresive female rock vocalists. And of course she was super sarcastic and wore Lingerie onstage, so that helped.

  • I believe it was mentioned Cherie's thing was costume changes between songs.

  • @fallspeed Cherie also did wardrobe changes between a lot of the songs as well, so she would step out while the other girls kept things going or Joan would do songs as well.

  • @fallspeed that was mostly because cherie was doing costume changes. also, i've heard bootlegs of other shows of theirs and cherie does a fair bit of talking between songs.

  • @fallspeed I was just gonna say that :) in LIJ album she was the one who always introduce the songs and say thank you after

  • @fallspeed she mightve been the leader, but cherie was one hell of a frontman.

  • @fallspeed it was her band, she formed so yeah, she was the leader, Cherie was just the leaed singer, not the band leader

  • JOAN JETT!!!!

  • the band was so lame after Cherie left. Saw both versions and I'm sorry but Joan couldn't front them the way Cherie could.

  • I think the band still made a lot of good music as a 4-piece, but the Cherie/Jackie lineup was definitely the best. Joan doesn't have the same vocal range.

Cherie looks hot in this outfit!

  • Cherie was amazing with the Runaways but her solo career was awful afterwards.. she sang top 40 pop, not rock... but then Joan's really took off....What is nice is that the two are GREAT friends today!!

  • Cherie is the Chainsaw Chic, Joan must love that

  • neverindoubt - NO DOUBT Joan digs that Cherrie is the chainsaw chic!!! LOL

  • LOVE THE RUNAWAYS!

  • girl power x600

  • girl power x10.

  • They Are From America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is 70's Rock & Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I listened to this album for 3 weeks straight.

Cherie was a teenagers wet dream!!

    But the music is good!!

I still listen to my limewire downloads- I can't find it anywhere to buy , on CD, or even to get a radio station to play their stuff.

    Thank's for sharing!!

  • get thee to a well stocked independent record store. :] the kind that buys up people's old collections. found the entire runaways discography on vinyl... pretty cheap too.

  • WOW!

  • Now THIS is PURE, REAL rock and roll. Thanks for posting!

  • runaways have one thing in common.

    they're all awesome

  • Talk about giving your all. Takes me back and blows me right up. Thanks, ladies.

  • Man, this is just too cool. Brings me back to when we were kids, my buddy and I had Runaways records, and we loved 'em. Just saw Joan Jett tonight on TV, still rockin'. Killer stuff.

  • Thanks CherieO wicked stuff one of the underated bands

  • not only do we thank YouTube for being here, but CherieO for this great old film clip. I'm 48 now and remember this song from when I was a young, hot-blooded Australian boy looking for fun and music. I loved the Runaways and this song was something that went with me everywhere (even though I was Australian!) The girls were just so hot and talented!

  • too crowded on that stage

  • GOD BLESS SANDY WEST-RIP

  • From the looks of it, MOST of the audience enjoyed it. But I did see some sour pusses just sitting there with no emotion on their faces. I believe this recording is the one they actually used on the album/cd. Or at least sounds real close. :)))

  • Have it on vinyl...NEVER thought I'd hear this again...I LOVE IT!

  • my favourite song too!

  • Holy shit! I am watching this with my jaw dropped! This song was always my favorite of theirs.

  • yahoo!
