  • i think its dope! im deff doin it, for the same reasons u did i like to build things an have unique shit, an no it may not be perfect but if u shot that down lower to the ground or a more air open place it would be better, an for fact a stock motor would appreciate that more air less work it have to do (y)

  • Learn about gasflow and filtration, you would never use that rubbish again. The surface area is 13 times smaller than a paper filter, so the holes need to be more than 13 times bigger to pass as much air as a paper filter - that means 13+ times the size of dust & dirt particles allowed through to damage your engine. It does nothing for performance apart from DECREASE it compared to a paper filter which passes more FILTERED air than the engine can use at full RPM. Boy racers are conned every day!

  • @urbex2007 If you would think a little bit more and look around you, you would understand things better instead of thinking you know everything already. I did not make this piece for performance, I simply made an adapter for my air filter because my mass air flow has a square end. Of course I know it's not efficient for airflow, I just like to build things and have fun making some experiments.

  • @urbex2007 fail...

  • abomination, simply horrible cant beleive you didin't just plug the damn air filter on the mass air flow with a simple e-bay bracket, would have cost 3$ and would have look just more right

  • @kaboshi Like I always say to those kind of replies: I like to build things, to invent

  • @corght Exactly WHAT did you invent? Apart from ruining a filtration system designed to protect your engine and replacing it with something that restricts performance and destroys the engine. I wish boy racers would stop allowing themselves to be CONNED by clever sales and marketing departments. It's a multimillion pound market taking advantage of boy racers who don't even know how an engine works, what a filter is or how to spot misleading & vague wording of adverts which have no real meaning.

  • @urbex2007 You assume I know nothing about engines and how they work because you don't understand what you see. I know how racing engines work, the optimization of airflow in F1 and NASCAR engines, how temperature and pressures affect the combustion, restrictions in the intake manifold, etc. Of course I know that my piece made out of fiberglass and paper is not efficient for performance. You are the kind of person who just talk, go out and have some fun, try new things and learn by yourself.

  • ale żeś sobie wysmarkał dolot :D:D dawno się tak nie dośmiałem dzięki :D:D trzeba było z papieru toaletowego zrobić to by ładniej wyszło:D::D

  • damn this thing looks like shit...you need to just junk the hole car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not trying to pick it apart because I like what you did, but why didn't you finish it off? Sand it down, etc?

  • i would rather just buy a pipe and an adapter that goes from square to circle

  • i wonder if the same job fits in my V6 mx3.. i like your idea but its very rough u need to work on it way more b4 u instal it , also u might want to extend it a little more down for cooler air , unless if u want to cold box it then that is also good..

  • If your mass air flow has a round shape then you can just fit the air filter on it. My mass air flow has a square end so that's why I did the part.

  • nah its a square one but then stil, the whole idea is to get cool air coming in which means i ther u make a nice scope in the hood or extened it down. caz as u know the engine bay heats up and if u have the pod filter too close to the engine then its shit

  • I know but I used this air filter during the winter so the engine needs warmer air. In the summer, it's true that colder air is better. In winter over here the temperature drops to -25C ( -12 F) often. Some old GM cars have the intake that goes just near the exhaust to warm the air and there is a valve to regulate it during cold weather. Very cold air and cold gas doesn't ignite well. That's why I did my setup like that (read the description).

  • hmm i never heard of that one, air intake next to the exhaust , okay wel from the sound of it, if the atmospheric pressure or temp, is very cold i am guessing the car will be running rich witch will also effect on on crancking and thats what u call cold crancking , i think??

  • In fact the air intake goes on top of the exhaust manifold near the engine, not at the back of the car near the muffler! Yes in cold temperature, the mixture is richer. But cold cranking is normally referred as CCA for batteries (cold cranking amperage).

  • ahh fuk.. yah i thought i was wrong right there with cold cranking i wasnt sure , but it kind of soundd like when a car starts in the morning and the fuel is cold and the air so the car dosnt start from the first kick in . but thanks

  • Good job on the intake man. And nice MX3!

  • Does the fact that the MAF sensor is mounted away from the manifold and right by the filter make a difference from normal or is that the normal setup for a MX-3? I guess it would sense colder air and more flow??.....

  • No, the MAF on this car is always near the air filter, I didn't change it's position, it's the normal setup for a MX-3. It would sense colder air if I put the filter away from the engine compartment but since winter is coming, I will leave the setup like that so warmer air will help.

  • the "do it yurself" group is dying. wat a shame.

  • sweet deal man. its tne times more fun to do it yurself. and the inspiration you give others....... : D rock on!

  • thanks for posting this i was just telling my son we could use cardboard to make a hood scoop for his 5.0 this clip really helped out good luck with that 1.6 i would try a used turbo with you FG skills you should have no trouble making it work for you

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • why the hell didint u bought an adaptor plate? cost 5$ and it fits way better

  • If you haven't notice, I like to build things.
