I moved to Memphis in 1986.

At the time I was playing on Beale a great deal with Uncle Ben and his Nephews and the Blind Mississippi Morris band.

He scared the ever loving bejesus out of me, and what made it the worst was his humbleness.

He always had a way to compliment your playing, but then when it was his turn, he would slay you !

Talk about the proverbial "Velvet Hammer" !

yeah man, i was in rx school from 86 to 90. was my second fave thing next to drugs! lol man, one time my friend coaxed uncle ben to let him play guitar with him...a short fat guy named matt...he picked with a penny out of his pocket , shook his big butt at he crowd while he picked (quite well)...outplayed uncle ben, the bass player leaned back and was laughing...uncle ben unplugged matt's guitar (borrowed from? you?) and said, "Da show is over." and was pissed...we laughed like fools!! u there?
