I mounted and bore-sighted a scope on my rifle and it was zeroed after 5 shots. Keep the rifle steady at all times. Remove the bolt and look down through the barrel to what you want to shoot at. Adjust your reticule accordingly. It's a lot safer and saves you some money.
@babyeatsdingos I zeroed it in about 3 shot found the first dirt mist as i call it, adjusted it to paper, the from there i had it on target. Nothing wrong with the way you do it. Everyone does it there own way good shooting, happy holidays.
Just a little friendly advise. After you shoot, dont't jerk your head up, follow through. It might not seem like it makes a difference but at 300 yards and up, it does. Develop good habits.
if you want some advice i av been trained by the best of the best and when you av shot stay in your shoting position for about 5 seconds after your shot it sounds stupid but it works.

You moving backwards is not bad at all. If you plan to shoot at the range all day, it's the only way actually. If you tense up and resist the recoil you'll quickly get beat up. You want to firmly shoulder the rifle and allow it to gently push (shove) you backwards.
By the time that you react to the recoil, the bullet is way gone.
This coming from a previous competative shooter... that used to shoot a Remington 700 in .270 Win.
you have a major flinching issue. dont pull the trigger and then jerk your head back. slowly squeeze the trigger and the reqoil should be a suprise, try not to anticipate it

@mss0402
I would just worry if the scope wasn't bore sighted, you may be firing in an unsafe direction. Just keep safe and enjoy your firearms.
Happy Holidays to you too sir.

@mss0402 I do it the same as you and can usually get in about 3 or 4 shots.
