  • fabulous rendition

  • All Les Miserables whether in different languages are really good. Even all actors are great from original cast to present.

  • Wow! She's amazing!!

  • @Xxkezzi94xX: You are absolutely wrong. Les Mis is NOT about the French Revolution. And the reason SailorYavin said French is because the composer of the musical and the original lyricist are from France. It wasn't until a British producer decided to adapt it for an English audience that the show became linked to any English speaking country. The famous stage version is only British produced, NOT written. Don't tell me you thought Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote it?!

  • @LaMisereHQ: whoa, really? i always thought that it was written about some period after the french revolution (right? i think it was about after the french revolution......) but totally thought it was the musical originated from england....... where can i find the original french soundtrack???

  • A great singer can make great music sound good in any language! I think she pulled it off well!

  • I have just uploaded some new videos, please comment or rate!

  • she was great,i don't understand it but i know the song, at 3:01 she was like shouting...but she is one of the best very nice

  • Fabulosa!!!

  • "On my own" = "Sozinha" ou "Por minha conta"

If you enjoy this adaptation you should search for the brazilian version of "A Noviça rebelde"

  • On my own, quer dizer 'sozinha'... e só.

  • the intro is SUPPOSED TO BE rushed :)

  • For those of you that speak "Brasilian Portuguese" what does "On My Own" translate to?

  • It's supposed to mean "a sós" but in this version it was translated as "só pra mim", that actually means "just for me" not "on my own"

  • Thank you! Very similar to Spanish, "solo para mi" would be "just for me".

  • Well, "on my own" could be translated to "por mim mesmo", "por conta própria", etc... but the version is "só pra mim", which means "only for me".

  • wonderful!!!!

  • I must say I'm truly amazed with this rendition. I'm usually not very fond of the versions here in Brasil, mainly because of the translation. This was though really good! Both the lyrics (outstanding!) and the performance! Specially considering Brasil never had any tradition in musical plays, wich means it's also very difficult to study theater+singing. Liked it very very much! 5 stars for sure!

Realmente maravilhosa!

  • man they really rushed through the intro

  • she's very good but I think I love more Lea's rendition. Sorry, just a comment. Greets from Belgium.

  • she of xf

  • that was wonderful. it was good hear another version of this song being sung...i got the gist of the language because i can speak spanish or i have heard this song so many times that i already know it. regardless, it was beautiful.

  • Actually it is not spanish, it is portuguese.

  • brazilian portugese technically.

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • Very powerful =)

I'm brazilian, but I didn't see Les Mis here. I was too young. Such a pitty!

  • Incredible rendition!

  • beautiful

  • i love lea bla bla bla she is the best bla bla bla!

  • beautiful :)

  • fail

  • i might not be able to understand a word shes saying but shes great!

  • i think Ester is way better than Lea x)

    love her =)

  • Why do some people bother posting a comment just to say "Lea is better"?

Yeah, we get it! People love Lea! She's the best ever bla bla bla! Enough!!

  • @Sayyyi bitter?

  • Music isn't about being in a language you understand! it's about feeling the same passion that the person singing or performing is. I guess if you don't understand and feel music though you wouldn't know that. And I agree, she did sing it beautiful. You can really feel her passion and love for the song. That's what I call "becoming the character you are"!!!

  • How do you idiots think music, languages, love, and general information is shared!!?? The more people that share these artistic passions, the more friendships that arise. Which ultimately spreads understanding and love!

  • You mean there are people who sing Les Miserables in English? Ew how dare they translate a show into another language. How awful!

  • shut the fuck up idiot... none is obbligated to know your fucking language! but we do have the same rights of entertainment as u do!and u know what? I'm brazilian but I speak english even though, and I garantee you the brazilian lyric of this song is way too better than original one... IF was there a language supposed to b official on the show and not replaced that should be french, and not english!so if a french story can b translated into english, why not in portuguese?

  • Sarcasm my dear, I actually found this performance outstanding. And if you read my comment, I said "You mean there are people who sing Les Miserables in English?" meaning it is peposterous to assume that the native tongue of "Les Miserables" is any language other that the language of the title and the book and the original musical. I do like your passion though. I hope you are a stage performer, you could bring a lot of you passion to the stage.

  • ahh! well I did not read the whole discussion though...

about my passion, r u being sarcastic?(dunno... just wondering)

  • it doesnt matter if the 'original' book, title or musical was written in a different language. what matters is the amount of people who see the play or read the book and know the amount of awsomeness that is in the storyline, DUH!!! who cares what fuckin language its in when they see it.

  • I like it! But why did she pause before the greatest last note?

  • 3:16

    O_O

  • it doesn't matter if she's singing in a different language, her voice is still wonderful! i can still get the feeling she's putting into the song

  • Brazilians speak Portuguese - not Spanish.

  • asswipe!

  • What's ur problem out of curiosity?

  • Incredible rendition!

  • Assisti a peça muitas vezes e sempre me emocionava com On My Own. A voz da Ester é linda e envolvente. Apaixonante.

  • Why?

  • why should she, deal with it, there are more then just one language in the world (if les mis should be in any one language it should be French)

  • t'as raison!

  • @SailorYavin Why French?

Sure it's about the French revolution but it's written by an British composer of musical theatre. It is an British production, so if it was in any one language then it should be in English.

  • why is she rushing!!! Not good at all

  • Some of the musicians in the background are playing faster and faster instead of following her. The faster portion of the song is super speedy.

  • have you ever heard lea salonga's version? it will get you hooked, i assure you. she's the best eponine ever, in my opinion. anyway, if she isn't the BEST, then why was she handpicked by sir cameron mackintosh himself among ALL eponines to perform the part in the les miserables 10th anniversary concert?

  • Excellent! she had me in tears!

  • Fantastic performance!! And I'm EXTREMLY picky when it comes to Eponine's!

  • Ela é ótima!

É uma das melhores do Brasil!

    Shre is great, the best!

  • I believe that there is not comparasión any more than between actresses who sing in the same language. The translation and the pronunciation is completely different in every "cast", although the role is equal of emotive

  • she sounds like jennifer lopez a little

  • lea is the best ever singer....i love her very much

  • she sounds lovely :)

I love when she says "são pra min, as flores que eles trouxe"

  • Everybody is better than her?! Mexico, shimada i don't know what, lea.... hello?! She is great! She is a amazing voice, actress and person! I love her! :p, if you don't like her the problem is yours, so, fuck off!

  • i think lea is great than this

  • SHIMADA WINS!!!!

  • Kaho Shimada is the best Eponine of all.

  • Lea Salonga is the best!

  • good but not as well as natalia sosa the eponine of mexico

  • GAH. she's no Lea.

  • El musical se llama Les Miserables. (Was that right? Not really good in spanish=p) The best singer is Ingrid Bergstrøm, no doubt!

  • you have to remember that when that cast recording came out, that was a really edgy pop sound that frances had. that was like idina menzel in wicked, and everyone was like "oh my god she's amazing."

  • Y'all are saying you like Frances Ruffelle better but I think this women is ALOT better. I hate Frances she sounds like a spoiled nine year old brat!

  • I like this woman a lot, shes very powerful. Im not a big fan of portugues in singing (its kinda of sharp, but she is beautiful. SHe reminds me of Gerardina Trovato. Pesronally, I like Lea Salonga as the best Eponine, although Sutton Foster is amzing and Frances Ruffelle is superb live.

  • Great! I love hearing this piece in different languages

  • She has a tendency to go off-key and is not consistent in her ability to sustain notes, but she's better than the whiny and nasal-sounding Frances Ruffelle.

  • You had to see Frances to truly love her. I had a pleasure of seeing her on Boradway and in London in the role. She is truly brilliant. Her acting is the best I ahve see an Eponine do (I have seen tons), so please do not jdge her on just a cast recording.

  • YAY PORTUGUES!!! my moms from brazil

  • She was exquisette

  • The better cast of les mis...

  • Truly a beautiful voice. I agree with others that her voice sounds a bit old for the role, but disagree with others when I say that Frances Ruffelle is just a squeaky annoying little chipmunk voice and that makes this girl better. Frances Ruffelle is better than no other Eponine that I have heard thus far. Good acting is NO excuse for bad (and I mean AWFUL) singing. This woman is good, but that's what she comes off as. A good "woman" not a girl. Thumbs up overall.

  • Oh, Les Miserables, my love :D I don't understand anything of this song in this language, but her voice is really great :)

  • Frances Ruffelle is my fav, ALWAYS.

    I love this ... I really do!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bem fantastico !!!!

Fantastic! I'm proud of my language !!! Very good! As good as the english version! I love both !! :)

  • A Ester tem uma voz linda! Sou fã!

  • haha cool portugese! my favorite eponine is still frances ruffelle from original cast tho.

  • good, yes, but the other comment was correct, her voice is to "OLD" sounding for the role... it dosen't sell the part

  • me gusta, que bonito!! que musical es?

  • Los Miserables

  • ah what a beautiful voice!

  • she's good!

  • She sounds a little too mature for Eponine... But I love her voice!

  • Very emotional! Great voice! Total package!

  • Thanks! I was so overjoyed when I saw this. I'd been wanting to hear Ester's rendition of the song for a while now and I'm not disappointed at all. She's incredible!

  • Well never heard of it and never will!!

  • i love hearing les miz in different languages! lovely, thanks for posting.

  • Loved it too. Wonder what language she singing?

  • Portuguese
