uhm Carbon 14 has a half life of over 5000 years.  I think thats a pretty long shelf life :D

BTW Half Life time is just for half the element to decompose to another element. The other half then takes another 5000 years if not longer.  So if you have a pound of carbon 14, in 5000 years only half a pound would be carbon 14.
