Sorry about all the typos on my previous post, I copied and pasted to reword my message and it went kind of wrong. Just for the record, I've loved EATB since I was 14, and that was in the 80's. And I don't think I'm better than others for that.
I have always loved The Bunnymen and they don't make music like this anymore it is now aches to th ears and senses.... This song is memorable and I agree thatif anyone comes to find a song cuz of a movie should really listen to the artists other songs before passing on judgements. I know people do it all the time I have done it once or twice but checked out other songs by those bands and was surprised... I guess it is a marketing ploy to make a theme song catchy and likealbe...
@TheFeralFlicks How come you have such need to be offensive with perfect strangers? If a kid discovers an old song bc of a movie or a video game what's the problem? thThe good thing is they CAN appreciate it. Sadly you don't hear this kind of music on the radio anymore and these kids were not even born when this came out, so why slagging them off? Is it a crime being young and not having heard to every single song ever released bc they're hardly ever aired? Come on!
@daypeshmodd It's a quote from the movie Donnie Darko. Most younger people such as myself first heard this song from the opening scene of that movie. Great film check it out.
@EJxEcstasy Thx! I've seen Donnie Darko when it came out & I liked it a lot (I'm thinking of watching it again). I even recommended it at the time. I also remember there's some great music in there & I'm happy to know that it helped younger people, like you, to discover it.
But to come back to ''suck a fuck'', it doesn't really mean anything, right?
@daypeshmodd The actual phase "suck a fuck" has no meaning on its own. It was just something Donnie's sister said to mock him after calling her a "fuck ass," which also has no meaning. Hope that clears it up.
@clarapop87 I first heard these guys on misfits lol. It's kinda weird I like these guys, im a 90's kid you see, so I grew up with the likes of metallica, the cult and guns n roses lol
@jasnoGT I personally think these guys are better than the cure, and I've been a cure fan for a good few years now whereas I only discovered these guys a couple of months ago lol
@TheGazmaniac I know right? I'm an '80's kid and I only heard the name of the band in school but I never bothered listening to them. Tonight I saw 'em on a vidoe on tv for my first time and I thought OMG! These guys are AMAZING! I LOVE THE CURE and now I'm a HUGE EATB fan. :)
@JasnoGT Yeah, both god bands but the biggest difference is one guy accidetally stuck his finger in an electrical socket and the other guy did it on purpose.
If you like this then you will like the band I manage, The Ran-Tan Waltz.. Hyped by NME, major support slots last/this year, 2 big London shows coming up in April. New EP released on Philophobia Records etc... Vids on the youtube profile x

I haven't seen donnie darko but knew of this song before it was on that film. Johnny depp is somehow always involved with something that has good music in it.
@undatone I understand that people love it, and it has a tremendous cult following. To me it's a film that strives to be profound and reveal existential truths, but it is much too immature and amounts to nothing. Just my opinion :) I'd rather watch "Eraserhead" for something abstract.
@billybobthe3rd I do get were your coming from and there are moments were it seems as if its aimed @ "alternative" teenagers, but still deffo not 'godawful' and the soundtrack and film score compliment it well. Just my opinion ; )
A shame that most people only know this song because of winky ass shit like Donnie Effin' Darko--but then, I suppose the Bunnymen are glad for recognition however it comes. It's just sad that it had to be tied to that bizarro nonsense (and usually bizarro is good). Ah, well..
aso the coldplay remark was dead on i mean lets face it if coldplay ever got their lyrics or melody above a whisper and put some power into their work i think chris martin would explode lol... this i a cool song for the road
