  • ad a straight man i think steve strange just amazing and so talented,im a big dance music fan and he and visage was on a par with kraftwork as their influence you can still hear today in popular dance culture

  • why is Steve miming this track though? they never did that on the tube! great track but he obviously can't sing live.

  • OMG, this takes me back to my teens!! I saw them in a LA club several times. This is just AWESOME!! Thanks for posting!

  • 2:25 epic fail

  • What's with the pathetic homophobic jibes? Visage were one of the coolest looking and sounding bands of their era and indeed they still are. Sad little people...

  • Steve Strange is'nt gay he is bisexual

  • LMAO I thought the best thing about this video was sweet Keyboards, But I was wrong if was uber tight moose knuckle in Steve's pants!! =P

  • Lol at morons obsessed with sexual orientation in music. How many of these jock clowns do you want to bet are fans of supposed macho cock rock like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Twisted Sister? Fans of these bands are the SAME as those who dismiss New Romantic musicians as "effeminate", LOL. (Funnily, the source of inspiration for the these bands' images actually overlapped with New Romantics).

  • 2:21

    Lip-syncing much?

  • Absolutely fantastic, good memories of the 80's, I loved Steve Strange!

  • @sanshuz: poor homophobic you are ...

  • Playback or not: is that Steve's own voice? O.k.; this is the REAL important thing.

  • queers

  • @varsume you find a lot of you "normal dressed narrow minded" pleb scum are a bunch of repressed closet queers "enjoy bein down wit pub wit the lads" darling xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Not just picking on you this is for all homophobics :)

  • @DerVampyrEngel English is your second language, right?

  • @varsume Isn't that how all you "butch and manly" homophobic jerk offs speak, ? after all only trying to make you feel welcome :)

  • I think some strangeminded people will understand that 80s was era of new romantic. Whats does new romantic mean? Welcome to wikipedia! That was beatiful colorful style! Singers loved this. But a lots of singers were MEN! But it doesnt mean that they were gays))

  • Yeah this was the look at the time which was cool!

  • Go Visage go, Hero of the music <3

  • wonderful STEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THE KING!I LOVE EVERY YOUR DREAM!

  • visage still rules!!!!!!!

  • uum, its mimed, hahaha, people are strange hahah funny again

  • if fact, this would be the best live performance ive seen from the band yet.

  • why do so many people dislike visage's third album. this song isnt bad at all.

  • wot a load of tripe

  • The tube is cool but this first band is like wham. Kind of gay!

  • wank

  • this true adorageeee <3

  • 2''24 Steve fucks up his miming

  • notice that this song sounded like that bloody awfull rynolds girls song ive always wonderd if s a w ripped visage off this song was ok prefer mind of the toy personaly

  • Ha! True. Well, actually the Reyolds Girls song, "I'd Rather Jack Than Fleetwood Mac" sounds like this song. I liked that song - it was a passable pop tune, and was the only significant expression of disgust about the fact that the late 70's and early 80's had produced some incredible music, much of which was over-looked because the baby-boomers were in their first wave of nostalgia, and took most of the following generation with them..

  • I love Steve Strange but, I dont love that he's lipsynching in this vid

  • do you mean miming,i dont like that either ,shows they cant play live,i do like visage tho

  • Ya man, me too .. love Visage but .. ugh, why must he mime. I read that Midge Ure got Steve some vocal training early on and even in the studio he was so bad. I guess thats why he mimes at the shows. :(

  • lol, i like it ALOT, pity y they only sold silver discs

  • really great song. . . .

  • 'thank you. we are the pleasure boys.'

    sublime!

  • proto electro up ther with the cabs and john foxx

  • oh yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • the start of this record was sampled for a house tune called shaft I think, nice break to cut and scratch!!!

  • This tune was sampled by a handful of hip-hop/electro acts such as Dynamix II, Jazzy Jay and the 2 Live Crew.

  • @DJTyDoZ Well that fucking sucks, but is not surprising coming from hip-hop.

  • i dont supose u have more info on the house tune ,im desperatly trying to find it

  • sorry no i dont

  • np thanks for replying ,i rember the tune too it was a stormer

  • @Undergroundsoundz for anyone intrested :s i found the tune i was looking for..visage pleasure boys dub mix ..theres a similar version of it as well called pleasure boys remix

  • you lot stop writing such crap you should be commenting on the music and performance not on sex! get a fucking life and grow up!!! oh and SHUT UP as well

  • ya and do you think fucking a guy in the ass is normal do you? it's not what nature intended. Ive nothing against gay ppl in fact i have some gay friends. i see their qualities as human beings.

  • So? Are you homophobic? Visage rocks...Who cares how "gay" they are? It's about the music.

  • Visage isn't/wasn't gay! This look was the trend among boys/girls back in the 80ties! In fact such guys had the most girls lol.

  • Ya i guess so. These ppl were my idols when i was a kid. Steve Strange is a pretty cool guy though. I'd hang out with Steve. This song is not great. Fade to grey and mind of a toy are the best. Fade to grey is a classic.

  • So true! lol. All my boyfriends wore eyeliner.

  • ha ha ha ha lol nice . . .

  • Steve Strange - bless him... Read his autobiography perhaps.. dandy Welsh man..and upfront about his homosexuality. He only mentions having sex with men in his autobiography. He had a rough upbringing though and new how to look after himself given he is a dandy...

  • @sys2074 steve strange was bi, but who cares, even if he was gay, his music was awesome. his orientation cant change that.

  • @sys2074 I was thinking about the same thing, Steve Strange as Bowie are the least gay people in the world, sure that they have fucked more girls than duran duran & spandau ballet together!!

  • 2:26 lipsych fail.

    Still Visage rocked.

  • his original backing band in studio was the ultra famous magazine line up formula, mcgeoch, adamson

  • A classic & sought after b boy break beat !!!!

  • LOL .. whats with the drill??

  • yeah lol

  • Steve Strange is soooo sexy!!!! :)

I love him and I love Visage!!!

  • Respect to visage!!!!

  • State of The Art drill he's using there!

  • thanks for posting.love this song!!!!

  • What date was this?

  • Midge Ure WAS the Main Musical Force of Visage

  • that's why they were poor

  • Very true, though Steve was the image.

  • ya ... .Steve was the face and Midge was the sound

  • very true

  • @Bonoerra

You are right there, along with Rusty Egan of course. :)

  • Good then, good now, good forever

  • Visage were a truly state-of-the-art concept for the time. They were innovative and produced very distinct early eighties dance music.

It is well documented that Steve was not the greatest natural singer (hence many 'play back' performances). Focusing on this though - is missing the point... Visage were a studio group not a live 'guitar' type band.

Regardless of Steve's singing ability, his vocal (whether seriously crafted by Midge Ure or not) is an essential ingredient of the Visage sound.

  • VISAGE ... to early for this world of the 80s ... you have only look the folks around the stage, there is no moving with that Visage-Sound ... strange for them in this time ... but today???

  • what is Steve on (look at his eyes) and can i have some?

    klassik choon.

  • Heroin

  • Bitch is fierce!

  • brilliant a+ !!!!!!!

  • I thought the tube was live? The lead vocals are mimed. Good song tho I still have the 7" vinyl somewhere!

  • Comment removed

  • Visage....fantastic !! Rusty and Billy Currie were at least 10 years ahead of everyone in the global music scene... they were musical profits..... true futurist visionaries

  • LOL 2'24 steve fucks up his playbackperformance

  • Lol, whoops! Still a great song.

  • yeah mat gr8

  • he is fukin amazing

  • This is cutting edge art/music. The Tube was superb, it fuelled a 1000 bands, fantastic times. As for doing that today, I think attitudes have changed. It is difficult to be that radical today where everything has been done before.

  • Supercool cyber punk

Keith Tucker (AUX 88) still cites them as a big influence. Wish all this would make a (proper) come back....

  • you can mixed this song with Stevie B-Dreaming Of Love

  • alsatiancousin1 why don't fuck then you fucking normal pleb cunt

  • well if its so gay why are you watching it then alsatiancousin1 you fucking pleb cunt, hey your cousin is calling go mate with it you pleb wanker Visage is cool and you are a normal pleb fool

  • as well as this sounds... it's hard to believe it's live, but then there are some differences in detail from the album version... hm...

  • I love Visage, Steve Strange!!!!

    essa música é d+!!!amoooo

  • what are the names of the guys

    in the band

  • What a song, it must be live cos you could'nt mime on the tube just ask pete burns!!!

  • hahaha it's totally playback ;) you can see it (for example 2:24 - Steve tries to sing and you can't hear anything). By the way I love Pete and I love Visage! God bless 80's!

  • fu@;?g wicked!

  • Steve Strange esperamos algun dia una cancion nueva te queremos esta tarde al descubrir estos videos saltaron mis lagrimas de emocion ,, un saludo cordial desde españa

  • We walked down the realm from our world to yours, some of ours already waiting, already here crashing through the fictitious fasade in mysterious ways. What greese and grime dare not move the markers of our world. Who would call 'EROS' to pay these a elegant visit. From our Century to yours: Visage

    The Arrow

  • this song totally rules. Visage rules!!! Very underrated new wave band that nobody talks about. This song sounds more like Freestyle Music. Their should be more pop songs like this today. Not the grbage you hear today.

  • randomly this is a hip hop classic as dj's like whiz kid used to double this tune up centering on the passage that opens and closes this footage, i'm still trying to get a 2nd copy for cuttin' but that beats only on the 12" and only so many hundred were pressed BAH! used t'love poppin' to this tho

  • Steve Strange is the fricken SEX.

  • WoWW! totaly "hairy" Steve, Billy Currie -ULTRAVOX and Rusty Egan!! TapeBacking!! not LIVE. Steve provided the image looks and package of the project VISAGE, the music was from Midge Ure, Billy Currie And Rusty Egan.

  • I am getting fed up with all the hateful and negative comments on YouTube. Instead of enjoying some good music which is not available on radio or TV some people just bitch ad nauseam.

southwicklion, we don't care what you think of Steve! and it takes one to know one!

  • i liked the music

    but lets be honest

    steve strange was a c*nt

  • i was there at the palace when this was filmed for the tube with a couple of friends and we thought it was a laugh specially as they were not singing 'live', all mimed.still we had a laugh, and it is a good song.

  • you were really there? cool!!! I wish they would do that stuff here in Chile.....lucky you!!

  • I remember watching this on TV real time. Not every band that came on The Tube was actually playing live.Shame to find out now that Strange was lip syncing and he even made a misstake doing it at 2:23(A bit embaressing to watch)Great visual though cool stuff,I still love The Anvil album and this track wasn't even on it.

  • brings back the memories of being too high and too underage- really great thanks for the memories

  • Of the few New Romantic Bands that existed in its brief heyday, Visage was probably the best! They had the perfect Futuristic sound!

  • visage was very good

  • This is a real gem, and the remix is Poppin' anthem, and a DJ fave.

  • Funny that those electro sounds at the beginning are all the rage on dancefloors at the moment! good stuff!!

  • Oh No Stevie Boy trying to look like a rocker. I went round on some PA's with him after this - Great guy but this was a bit wooden to say the least.

    Elektrapunk

  • oh my godd cool cool. cool

  • cool song
