Regardless of drugs Chris Benoit killed his wife, his son, then took his own life. Chris killed his wife first (rumour has it that she was cheating on him) but who's to know the real truth behind why he killed her. He isn't here to explain and he never left a note to explain why he did what he did.
I think Chris realised what he did, killed his son as he didn't want his son to live with someone else and then killed himself as he didn't want to suffer the consequences.

He was in a very bad condition at that time, mentally and physically, similar to Kurt Angle right before TNA (thank god he switched). He was overworked. All those bumps and steroids caught up to him, in fact his brain was similar to one of an Alzheimer patient's.
