Phil, you should remember that not everyone has Photoshop, and someone who does, such as myself, knows how to put a cropped or re-sized picture behind a template.

Teaching them to use GIMP would have been a much better choice due to the availability of that software, being free, and also due to it's very similar interface.

@nighthade1 - Only if you don't know how to use Gimp properly, I myself am very good with it, I can make tons of designs with paintbrushes, light effects and it has a wide variety of tools, which I kinda created myself, such as the Dragger and Outliner, the Dragger allows me to manipulate the size of an image without it losing any of its normal properties and the Outliner allows me to remove a character from a wallpaper to a transparent bg.

The mac os is also shit, sure it has less problems but thats because it limits you from doing anything to it / putting many different programs on it.
