@5mthstoord it's called a goose-step. the power comes from the floating in the air, he might be running 75% and then after the hop in the air, he can explode in any direction. just go out and train doing the step in every direction, and watch alot of waisale serevi videos ahaha
@Putatoe94 well habana runs 100m at 10.4 and ryder ran at 10.32 at a promotional race in fiji to promote fijis commonwealth games runners.. so i guess its pretty even but the fastest rugby player in his prime was Toderai Chavanga he use to run at 10.27!!!
I dont think this guy will have a similar success in the 15s like he has in 7s..way too small, it would be diffifcult for him to show the same magic he has in the 15 man game. i reckon he would do well in league.he has a good step and explosive speed.
hes got plenty of pace to be a back in the 15 man game, perhaps a winger or fullback, you're right he probably won't shine as much, but hes got enough talent as it is, thats why he left sevens for a while to play 15s in japan, but so many players waste their careers in japan.
bro, he was approached by French T14 club Perpignan a year ago according to Fiji Times. But due to his lack of game time in 15s, they gave him a year or 2 then they will sign him.
That is why Ryder pulled out of the Fiji 7s team in the IRB 7s series and focused on 15s in Japan. He maybe moving to play in France next season.
I think Ryder also shares the same agent with Caucau, so dont be surprised if you see him playing for AGEN.
thanks a lot! i was really frustrated! can't wait to see him, altough french teams are becoming very powerful cause they have more money than english teams(and better player choices when transferring)
the rumours about Ryder being discovered on the soccer field is total BULLSHIT. Like every Fiji 7s player they have to prove themselves in the local 7s tournaments inorder to get selected, that is where he was discovered.
Serevi did go lookng for Ryder and found him playing soccer, but it was just a friendly game with friends. The story has been spun so many times its rediculous.
it makes a good story though. remember soccer is a million times more popular than union rugby so the commentators are doing the rugby funs a favour even if you dont think so! anyways, i love rugby
Otimide, personally I thought it was insulting implying 1 of our best 7s rugby players was discovered on a soccer field. A non-contact sport full of " holllywood divers".
I agree, Soccer is more of a global sport then rugby, but just the idea of the FRU being so desperate for new talent we have to resort to soccer players to boost our national 7s team didn't go down to well with me.
i can understand your discomfort. Welcome to though to the real world. remember rugby is trying to make inroads into the asian market which is soccer dominated. A little reference to soccer, however inaccurate, 'might' just ease in a few more asians to watch even if it might insult a few fijians. If a few more new fans might buy into the notion of the 'soccer player who plays rugby', the commentators would have done a wonderful job.
Soccer is not the most popular sport in all of Asia. Cricket is big in Pakistan/ India/Sri Lanka, Baseball/Sumo in Japan, Soccer is played by many but it is not the most popular sport in China.
So your notion of commentators dropping the "soccer player playing rugby 7s" line has something to do with attracting the Asian market does not make sense.
Commentators of all sport drop lines like this al the time, doesn't mean they're plugging a sport/product
i personally dont care for soccer but dont you think you are getting overworked over minor details? Gosh?!! There is no argument about those other sports but regardless of their popularities are no match to soccer generally in asia. Dont you ever manchester united and beckham are the richest? It is more to do with popularity in the asia and success of their merchandise there compared to other clubs/players. In any case, we maybe arguing a mute point as we dont know what the commentators mearnt
Mate, I lived in the UK for 10 yrs and Japan for 3, so you do not have to tell me about soccer/Manu U or Beckham.
As for me getting "overworked over minor details", well mate, you were the 1 who claimed commentators dropped that line to somehow attract the Asian market. I do not mean to come across as being blunt, it's rediculous/laughable.
yes, you are overworked! I did wrote 'somehow attract the asian market' and all the rest but how does that belittle fijian rugby?!! It was just a simple unprejudiced comment. All i intend was to draw attention to the possibility commentators are influenced by commercial forces. sure your 13 yrs in japan and uK hasnt taught you enough!!!
you have to go through Fijian education system to understand where I'm coming from. At school level, the players could can not make the 1st, 2nd or 3rd teams at rugby trials in all age groups are put aside to form a soccer team. It's a bit mean but that is how things were/, soccer. Basically those who do not have the skill, strength & ability to hack it on the rugby field make up the soccer team.
Hey i didn't write all tht for it to be spammed! I just wanted to reach a wider pool of viewers so i can get a better chance of an answer. I'm really sincere about the posted comment. What the hell...spammed me for wat??
