I dont think this guy will have a similar success in the 15s like he has in 7s..way too small, it would be diffifcult for him to show the same magic he has in the 15 man game. i reckon he would do well in league.he has a good step and explosive speed.

hes got plenty of pace to be a back in the 15 man game, perhaps a winger or fullback, you're right he probably won't shine as much, but hes got enough talent as it is, thats why he left sevens for a while to play 15s in japan, but so many players waste their careers in japan.

bro, he was approached by French T14 club Perpignan a year ago according to Fiji Times. But due to his lack of game time in 15s, they gave him a year or 2 then they will sign him.

That is why Ryder pulled out of the Fiji 7s team in the IRB 7s series and focused on 15s in Japan. He maybe moving to play in France next season.

I think Ryder also shares the same agent with Caucau, so dont be surprised if you see him playing for AGEN.

the rumours about Ryder being discovered on the soccer field is total BULLSHIT. Like every Fiji 7s player they have to prove themselves in the local 7s tournaments inorder to get selected, that is where he was discovered.

Serevi did go lookng for Ryder and found him playing soccer, but it was just a friendly game with friends. The story has been spun so many times its rediculous.

I agree, Soccer is more of a global sport then rugby, but just the idea of the FRU being so desperate for new talent we have to resort to soccer players to boost our national 7s team didn't go down to well with me.

A little reference to soccer, however inaccurate, 'might' just ease in a few more asians to watch even if it might insult a few fijians. If a few more new fans might buy into the notion of the 'soccer player who plays rugby', the commentators would have done a wonderful job.

Soccer is not the most popular sport in all of Asia. Cricket is big in Pakistan/ India/Sri Lanka, Baseball/Sumo in Japan, Soccer is played by many but it is not the most popular sport in China.

So your notion of commentators dropping the "soccer player playing rugby 7s" line has something to do with attracting the Asian market does not make sense.

Commentators of all sport drop lines like this al the time, doesn't mean they're plugging a sport/product

you have to go through Fijian education system to understand where I'm coming from. At school level, the players could can not make the 1st, 2nd or 3rd teams at rugby trials in all age groups are put aside to form a soccer team. It's a bit mean but that is how things were/, soccer. Basically those who do not have the skill, strength & ability to hack it on the rugby field make up the soccer team.

Anyone has any idea how ryder trains his explosive acceleration step? The one he explodes from a first gear into a full throttle with the"kick step".I kinda know how the step is done(i hope) but not reali sure hw the power can b trained?For some1 2 produce tht kinda of power wld require a lot of hipflexor strength,n i can only tink of the power clean. I put my money on power cleans but am open 2 other suggestions or ACTUAL knowledge.Any1 with an idea pls come fwd n offer ur piece.Thanks!
