I know. Definately the best Disney villain. Most Disney baddies just say that they're evil by doing one bad thing. For example Scar killed his bro but after that he only did 2 bad things (although in retrospect those 2 things are still pretty bad). Frollo however was evil from start to finish.

no...books are meant to arouse imagination. every1s interpretation of things & events r different. This may be the interpretation of the producers (with the obvious cuts to fit the 2 hrs frame). U wld never get a film that's exactly the book. When a writer writes, all he has to worry about are his words; but now you gotta worry about actors as well. how do the actors understand the scene, how good are they at protraying it.

I can see the Lion King being based off Hamlet, but I wouldn't say it's THAT close. Pretty much the point of Hamlet was to show this guy who didn't want to kill someone so he puts it off by making long speeches. Life and murder's, like, a major theme.

But Simba finds out what happens to his dad and he doesn't vacillate and waffle and stuff, which is 90% of Shakespeare's play.

I think it's kind of a Hero's Journey-ish Hamlet, really.

Definitely. I can only imagine the controversy this sequence stirred when the film was released. Simultaneously, though, it's one of Disney's finest. I admit to not reading the novel, but I'm not surprised that Disney didn't stay true to the original. They hardly ever do when it comes to adapting other stories for their animated features. On the other hand, they are good at what they do... when they do them well, that is.
