  • in new zealand you have to know your blues and soul because radio would never ever play hot jams like this

  • James Carr... Unbelievable Soul...

  • Great stuff.

  • James sang our hearts

  • OK, I thought I knew this kind of music, this guy LOVE HIM!

  • Soul....

  • THANK U YOUTUBE FOR BLESSING MY EARS AND SOUL WITH REAL MUSIC!!!

  • Thesocratease............How right you are, this music never gets old and thanks to youtube,a new generation gets to hear, and appreciate it.I'm from Boston, but was stationed in the South from 1959-67,and thats where I first heard these great soul singers,as they got NO play in the Northeast. Finally,Otis Redding broke through, and then Bobby Bland and Bobby Womack, and the people in Boston finally got a chance to hear REAL music.

  • I love this song.

  • I just played Carr for the first time in my life. It is incredible how underrated this guy is , the voice is so easy and powerfull, it sends chills to my spine. I think that all the wanna be singers we see and hear today should tacke some notes, because THIS IS MUSIC plain and simple. From my point of view he is one step ahead Ottis, the voice is simply amazing.

  • James Carr,O.V.Wright,Otis Clay, and Otis redding.......The 4 greatest Soul artists of all time. The only one who got the play and recognition he deserved was Redding. The other 3 remained in obscurity due to the fact that their record labels didnt promote them.Jamed Carr has made some of the best music I have ever heard, yet even today, only the hardcore Soul Music fans have heard his music. What a damn shame!!!

  • @Davids508 Yes, the absolute best. They were all played in the south, every jukebox, bar, juke joint, radio . I remember suppers in NOLA where they were always on the jukebox along with other local and regional artists. What a wonderful thing youtube is for reviving our interest in these artists or allowing us to recover these long lost gems. Now if only the record companies would release this music. A lot of it is still relatively hard to find.

  • This is so fucking good!

  • Wow! This song sends chills down my spine. I feel your pain. Great song, sad but great...

  • WOW! I heard this song for the first time on Pandora and I had to look for it again!

Thank you Mr. Carr and family!

    ~Fran~

  • i've been a fan of o.v. wright for about 15 years. i just found james carr. i can't believe that i've never heard of him before. i love his voice.

  • listen to this with every fibre of your being..this voice and his delivery will never be replicated..between him and ov wright-the two greatest blues singers ever

  • Here's another great song they forgot to play on the radio...

  • @titostacos It played on KDIA Oakland back in the day

  • @MusicalLyrica You are quite right. I think it lasted awhile on the air, maybe not Top Ten but it got some play. Glad to know someone else remembers how great KDIA sounded when it was The Soul of the Bay.

  • @titostacos - they played it on the radio in Philly, but we were lucky enough to have 2 black AM stations - the late, great WDAS and WHAT :)

  • @titostacos I agree with you it's one of the great ones. I've sent hundreds of old songs to a much younger friend and this is the one she was most enthusiastic about, to put it mildly. But it was played on the radio in Oakland, on KDIA, the Soul of the Bay. Good heavens, I wish that station was still with us.

  • Fabulous tune from "The Worlds Greatest Soul Singer" Thank you!

  • you know your music

  • @TheRickynow Amen he is the best ever
