  • Quite entrancing.

  • Harry connick Jr,

The Best I have his first CD.

He's in a class by himself enough said!

    Long live the king!

  • Maybe a toilet plunger does a better job of muting an instrument than a regular mute does! This guy's a hoot!

  • @yowser2b Actually they have different sounds and you can't take a regular mute out and in like that. There is a lot of jazz that involves the use of the plunger with the brass. But it does sound great doesn't it!

  • best 7 1/2 mins on youtube, great show !!!!!

  • the world is full of surprises.

  • And PS...Lucien and Leroy just nail it solid. What more can be said?

  • There’s something about Harry and his voice which just gets to me. Whipped cream with chocolate, good coffee, a cigar, red beans ‘n rice, smoky sausage. I do like Buble tremendously, but when I listen to the two of them back-to-back, Michael is weak coffee compared to Harry. Michael is entertaining and talented, but he can’t hold a candle to Harry’s style, humor, and love for the music which comes through to me in a different way. Each man is gifted in his own right.

  • YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Look at it this way... Harry Connick, Jr. shits on Michael Buble every single day of the week. From the band to the swing to the players to the singer himself... EVERYTHING is better. Love this so much...

  • on replay!

  • SUPERB!

  • This has to be one of his greatest performances!

  • inbeliveble.........these two guys.....

  • Excellent!!! :-)

  • this reminds me of Johnny Carson - Dean Frank and Sammy - you topped it BABY!

  • sorry...... "ooogledieeboogledyboo"

  • don't care what "greatest" or "cornerstone" singers you think he don't hold a candle to, harry sells the song, live, to a lot of "real" jazz fans, myself included. and his "ooogleboogledyboo"was right in the pocket, along with every other note he swang.

  • Fantastic.

  • Best thing I've ever heard in my life. Can I marry that trombone player? I don't care if I also play trombone. We WILL make it work.

  • Oh, Harry! Saw this whole group in Orange County in 1992. They were great! I <3 you, Harry.

  • I like Harry just because of the type of song he sings. I agree he is a good singer and better than most, but wouldn't consider him as great.

  • I'm a jazz musician and singer, have been for over 30 years.. and I listen to all the cornerstone singers: Bennett, Torme, Vaughn, Dinah, Ella, Lady Day, Joe Williams, Anita, etc... I honestly don't see what the uproar over Connick is-- I really don't consider him a very good singer. Maybe the ladies like him for his looks, but looks don't make a musician! (By the way, what's with the "boogity boogity" and "heyyyy heyyyy"? The guy sounds like a moron! lol!)

  • @epf1961 I don't really think people are judging of his looks. If you listen to this you can tell they are just having fun and are grooving. Harry is a great singer and the band is great as well!

    BDouthitt

  • @jazzmanbd .. Well, I suppose that depends on your definition of "great". As mentioned above, I listen to the all-time giants, so my standards are pretty high. To call Connick "great" would be to put him on par with Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Joe Williams, et al. And their equals he is NOT. (I'm not really a Sinatra fan, which is why I didn't list him, but Connick is no Sinatra either).. We're all entitled to our opinions: I was simply expressing mine. Tx...

  • @epf1961 You know, it's ok to be elitist, but Connick has a lot of charm, style and a good voice. I can enjoy it for what it is without comparing it to former greats.

  • @epf1961 check out his album "30" with his rendition of chatanooga choo choo. fairly impressive stuff.

  • @crimsonhawk52 Funny, I just did a gig yesterday and someone told me I sounded like Connick!! Strange stuff! (I do jazz sax and vocals backed by my own self-produced backing tracks)..

  • @epf1961 funny how someone compared you to the person who you don't consider a good singer

  • perfect !

  • Love his voice....great voice...and what a skinny guy he was then....still handsome as ever

  • Awww... is sooo.. AWFULL! its like spit on Frank Sinatra's grave!!!!

  • This is my favorite performance of this song. In fact, I think this is my favorite performance of any song. Leroy slays that trumpet.

  • Ohh Dear this is Awesome, absolutely Inspiring. Thank u so very much. Priceless ;-)

  • Nobody takes a great song and stretches it into something unrecognizable like this guy. This is what happens when you love the sound of your own voice too much.

  • @pate357 Weird.. i sure seemed to recognize it. Maybe you don't know the song very well.

  • All the fun starts @2minutes! Fabulous & super tight performance!

  • Love Harry! I did a simular cover of this song

  • I've listened to this exact liveversion for yearsss i LOVE IT it makes me SO HAPPYYYYYYY

  • Grooovyyyyy!!

  • Irresistible!!!

  • Just beautiful. even if u dont take all of him!!!

  • excellent

  • ahhhhhh....talent. too bad the majority of todays youth is so fucking absent of talent perception.

  • @aaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaaqaa , yo no ando perdida, comparto su descontento por esto, pero yo soy una joven con buen gusto musical, este señor me encanta, le mando saludos desde México.

  • He's still got IT!!!!

  • BOTH are just great. Such talent!

  • I love the "Sentimental Journey" riff @2:55!

  • wonderful, can't help but smile, and groove to the muuuusic.............

  • such niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice grooooooooooooooooooove!

  • Harry is the hippest! love this style of music! If you dig it too, then ck out this L.A. band that is bringing some cool jetsetter jazz back.

    search cinnamon doll jazz

the singer is like harry and frank sinatra rolled into one.

  • They're having so much fun, that we forget about how crappy music is today... Great musicians playing great tunes LIVE, no overdub, no tricks, just amazing musicianship.. and how great Harry is for let this band feel so free!!!!

  • This is my favorite performance from Harry. Love every second.

  • damn! he's sexy XD

  • Just listened to Harry being interviewed up here, north of the border on CBC radio. He was wrangling with the interviewer a bit, decrying the kind of fame going 'round these days, e.g., "Snooky", that comes despite not working hard.

No one could say Harry doesn't work hard--and enjoy doing so.

  • A toilet plunger foe a mute? thats new to me! good stuff.

  • @Phil4013 It's not really a mute. But a plunger. Very common in jazz.

  • 30 morrows

  • This is one of the greatest trombone solos I have ever heard. What a groove!

  • @SwingDanceBand You're not wrong!

  • @SwingDanceBand Dang! Makes me wish I hadn't given up playing trombone after high school! I absolutely loved this video!!!!!

  • @SwingDanceBand Lest we forget Leroy Jones' magic trompet :-) I had the good fortune of catching Leroy's show in Aarhus, Denmark this summer. Great artist, great performer and allround nice guy.

  • PERO ESTE HOMBRE ES FANTASTICO......Y FAMA ES UNA VOZ...PARA SABER QUE EL SER HUMANO PUEDE SER SUPERIOR....A LO CORRIENTE......

  • pues si escuchan el ALL OF ME..que canta en españa....un cantante español...que se llama FAMA.....NO LE HACE FALTA NI TROMPETA NI NADA DE NADA.....Y HACE UNA VERSION UNICA......COMO POCAS....DE ESTA CANCION CON UNOS JUEGOS VOCALES ALUCINANTES....SIN NECESIDAD DE TROMPETA...EL SE AMENIZA SOLO CON SU VOZ....

  • This is almost as good as making love to you! I love you my Baby!

  • I am so in love with you baby!!! You are all of me!

  • Cool as hell!

  • Leroy Jones insn't it?

  • @Robertrompet yes in deed...

  • This is the reason I still have a video player!!! Recorded this years ago and it still makes me smile!!!

  • GREAT GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lucien Barbarin is THE meanest trombone player on the planet!

  • Oh very good!

  • Впечатление такое, что тянет кота за хвост.

  • Harry puts on a great show, allowing others to same. What is that trombone player's name?

  • What's a michael buble????

    Harry is timeless

  • This is what drew me to Connick.......just fun and yet very very expert presentation.

  • sigh!

  • This is just beautiful.

  • Love the Satchmo-inspired mugging and scat... brilliant! Lucien, Leroy - y'all the best! Never stop!

  • Man harry and his dudes were swinging baby, forgive me harry i forgot how good you are, after being caught up with buble please forgive me bazsingsswing

  • Smooth, silent, touchy - it is one of the best interpretations of this wonderful old song. And Harry - the perfect Frank Sinatra. No, sorry: He is HARRY!

  • Solos were outright CRIMINAL. I can die now.

  • Geeze oh!!! WOW.....Perfect in everyway. Thank you for posting this!!!

  • Can't get tired of watching this. Harry, U da man...

  • I love!!! So fun and classy! Thank God we are seeing this keep going...never die big band!

  • My sweet Bunny, I want for nothing, except you! Your fatboy is lost without you!!

  • leroy and lucien were outstanding here, what a great performance. unbelievable to think it was 18 years ago. my how time flys

  • This a cigar and a good whiskey would be the ideal way to ease yourself into the week-end.

  • maravilhoso!!!!

  • one of the best versions of this song in my opinion

  • @greekkid120 i thik so too. I can listen to this over ad over again ad ever et tired of it. It always makes me feel good and lifts my mood. =)

  • Harry is so underrated it's a shame. It'd be great to see him have a #1 single someday. He really deserves it, and we know he'd love it.

The horn players are absolutely brilliant. Reminds me of being in a nightclub in New Orleans.

  • OMG all over the place. this just makes melt!!!!!

  • Harry is the best! There just isn't anything else to say except that I wish I had met him before Jill. LOL!

  • VIva la musica!

  • where is the voice?

  • now THAT'S a man. MM! <3

  • love this song, amazing voice

  • Love those horns! What a talented bunch of guys. Thanks for post.

  • Are their solos improvised?

    That was great!

  • @bobthebuilder2143

    uh...YEAH?!

  • this is a true musician right here... composer, arranger, performer, entertainer, singer, pianist (as many other instruments) he is one the greatest talents stilla round today and one of the most underappreciated. kanye west? justin beiber? lady gaga? no thanks. i'll take harry any day! <3

  • that was fun

  • qui parle francais !!!!j ai adore ce 13 mai a la sallle pleyel !!paris by nigth et ce super crooner belle soiree

  • Lucien Barbarin such a legend

  • AND WHY NOT! YEAH!!!

  • lol looks like fun

  • deeeeeeeeeeeeemaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadoooooooooo bueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenoooooooooooooooooo!!!

  • From bugaluga ville

  • people try to compare Harry to Sinatra...their both crooners, but Harry has more Louisiana flavor in his music. Plus he's fabulous at tickling the ivories and a very accomplished actor, so don't hate!

  • The trombone and trumpet players make this video. Harry Connick Jr. sings very well but pales in comparison to Frank Sinatra. If you really want to hear this song in all its glory-listen to Billie Holliday, ella Fitzgeraly or Dinah Washington sing it.

  • both harry and michael are amazing performers. i love both of them...and the funny thing is...both of them are hilarious. michael's just more screwed up.

  • much better than buble anyway!!!!!

  • autentic swing...thanks from Spain

  • FAN_TA_STI_C..............

  • Great entertainment!!!!!

    New CD also a winner!!!

This may be the man to takeover the

Great American Songbook and put his

unique mark on it!!!!!! Predict his

    career will soar even higher.

  • Harry Connick Jr. is one of the Best Jazz Singers in the World. :o)

  • @multikool I agree with you!

  • @ 04:23 - amazing...

  • 5 stars...what an amazing performance all of them

  • @velangie1 The horn solos sound almost like they're "talking." They made it yet more sexy.

  • feel good music. i love it.

  • The slide trombone stole the show...

  • so good

  • Extraordinario,emociona escuchar le tremenda ejecución musical.Gracias

  • Extraordinario, rayando en la emoción por tamaña ejecución musical

  • I love lots of jazz greats, many of them long since departed. But Harry... Harry is my favorite. He is multi-talented, and he can really swing. I love his style--Classic jazz with that good ole Nawlins vibe thrown into the mix. It does not get any better than that.

  • I am so glad someone like this exists today. A brilliant man who is as talented on the keyboard as he is with his voice.

  • i used to be a little afraid of telling people i love harry connick jr, but you know what, he is as legit as any other jazzer! im not ashamed!!!

  • Take my chops... I love it

  • Baba-zoo-bang (well), boom-zang (oh!), boom-bang, boom-baaaannng.

  • @proftrefusis I love it....omg...

  • Love this song and Harry Connick Jr.

    Thanx. :-))

  • The current King Ladies and Gentelman, like it or not he is theeeeee shit!!!!!! Take a big whiff!!!!!

    This Man Owns it......whats it?

    It Don't Matter

  • Great Entertainers!!!

  • me he enamorado

  • MUY, PERO MUY BUENO !!!

  • Harry is the epitome of a musician. His light, playful, almost lackadaisical attitude on stage is indicative of his total lack of concern with the somber, humorless, "schooled" countenance that is prevalent in so many jazz musicians. The way he forces the audience and the musicians to have fun is intoxicating. That's what it's all about. Go Harry!

  • @keatingpiers Best comment I've ever read. That's my favorite part about watching him perform. He's so comfortable on stage and that just captivates all the viewers.

  • why compare to buble's in the first place? the whole point is to do things your own way, the way you want it. harry and the boys did it their way. i'm a harry fan, sorry.

  • damn brilliant. Just enjoying themselves. and still getting it all perfect.

  • Nice. He got the words wrong in the 1st verse...

  • how ?mr. negative?

  • good...but like Michael Buble's version

    more upbeat..modern :D better vocals :P

  • yea but without the original.. there would be no version..

  • good version (the soloist were sickk!!) but I like Michael Buble's version a little better because its a little more upbeat and a has a bit more swing to it. (: but great version. Harry Connick=greatness:D

  • Then why watch the video if you can't stand him?

  • So I click on one of the first videos of one of my new favorite songs, and he pops up. i watch the video and an opinion forms. i'm not out looking for a fight online if that's what you mean.

  • yeah how bout that bone player

  • i got his autograph on my "she" album. =)

  • A classy, understated performance by all involved. More, please!

  • Monstrously awesome performance, favoriting it. Thanks a bunch for putting it up!

  • It's Fucking Swing Man !!!

  • It's hard to believe this concert is almost 20 years old. I remember watching and recording it from HBO. Got to see him in 1995 as part of the "She" tour. Amazing performer.

  • He was 25 years old when he did this concert in 1992. Amazing talent for being so young at the time. I saw him live here in San Diego a few years ago and he's the best showman I've ever seen.

  • Boobaloogaloogagon!

  • Dunno about all the Connick vs Sinatra comparisons as far as vocal talent goes (they're both excellent in their own ways) but Connick nails this particular tune better than Sinatra ever did. Frank's version is just too upbeat and cheerful - it's supposed to be a depressing ode to losing one's woman! Jones and Barbarin both superb here.

  • This is an amazing performance. I've seen Harry in concert. He's light hearted banter and attention to the minute musical detail is crazy amazing. He is so incredibly talented and entertains the socks right off people. Thanks Harry!!!

  • This guy is cool personified.

  • I've seen Harry four times, and this performance is exactly what he's all about. He's talented, cool and loves to share the spotlight with his band. He pays homage to a great era of music, while adding his own flavor. And while he doesn't match up to Sinatra vocally (who really does?), he's a ridiculous piano player and writes a lot of his own music. Frank may be the best and coolest of all time, but in my opinion, Harry Connick Jr is the best of the modern era.
