Doubt it was an accident. The "surprise" laser is a pretty common tactic during bomb recovery, and even if Wes didn't plan on firing it M2K would've gotten a shine spike anyway. Win win situation either way for him, probably not an accident.

@Fatality1337Falcon no that was definitely predicted. when i was watching this i hough "well they both know wes is getting combo'd and he has a full charged laser so wes is obviously gonna get that extra damage any way he can before he dies. pretty obvious that'd be the best option for m2k.... even if he didnt fire the laser it would've been a shine spike anyways.

Meteor cancel just makes Samus' spike practically useless. For one thing, it has so much start-up lag, that landing the spike is difficult enough. On top of that, characters like Fox have a good enough up special to rely on meteor cancel. Even characters with sucky up-specials, recovery wise (e.g. Mario, Link) can make use out of it with great timing.
