multiplayer: lets face it predators are over powered stronger guns/ stronger meele more health... when it comes to team death match their should always be 2 aliens , 2 marines and one predator, as more people join the order it gets filled in is alien -> marines -> predator = that way aliens and marines will always be the bulk of the enemy's and predictors don't team gank around good items that one shot every f-ing thing!
story game play: how many times in the series do you see a lone marine and a lone alien take out a series of heavily armed marines/aliens. lets face it while playing alien you fight massive squads of marines... and while playing as marine you fight a giant army of aliens... why is your main character always alone? posting multiplayer issue above
Well here's my opinion the game, the game IS broken no matter how many people try to deny it IT IS, single player is passable i beat it once with marine and pred and replay the alien missions every once in a while because i love the alien, now in multiplayer the game is a mass, once again i main the alien i rarelly touched the other two spieces but all three are broken, you host a game because as you know the host has the advantage of having almost no lag, people start join you and comes down to
Predator - Heavy spamming(second heavy if the first is countered cannot be countered) plasma and disk spamming sometimes at short range, i'm ok with grabs cept for the grab button mashers that sometimes it's so clear when the player is mashing it like crazy just to grab something and totally oblivious to the marine that walks by and gets a free kill because everyone knows grabbing leaves you open.
Marine - Shotgun, yeah the alien wall tailing most of the time can beat shotgun users if your lucky enough to not be killed in one shot even when your out of range not to mention, shouldn't the alien acid kill or seriously damage a marine that fires the shot gun at close range? Kill stealing and denials isn't it great when your about to deliver the final blow to a predator and some annoying marine passes by and kills you or the predator your fighting with? it's the only way they win.
Finally Alien - And this goes for myself too, first you have wall tailing oh boy have i been flamed for it but honestly when i'm the host and predators spam way too much i usually do two things first i send him a warning "do that again and i will wall tail you" if he keeps on spamming i will simply switch to pyramid for the next map, since their spamming usually fails and we can use wall tailing easy i use it to force predator spammers to leave. the other is grabbing and with this comes stealing
And once again it pisses me off, because i go through all the work of the ass kicking for some random alien passes by "an easy grab" and grabs the predator and takes my kill, so i took another measure against this i leave friendly fire on, so now when an alien steals my kill i'll simply hit him or kill him if he steals more then once. If he retaliates i send him a message, my usual play style is going by myself i may be in a team of 4 aliens but i always hunt for my kills i don't steal nor grab.
So to sum it up, i think the game had some neat ideas the alien was the first character i used in a video game that when i looked around i didn't have to drag my arms and everything else along with me except when your walking, and i love looking back or walking backwards and see my tail and everything. but the this is why i play the game until Alien colonial marines comes out if in case it actually does and has playable aliens, this is the only game i can play as alien so i'll stick to it.
This was interesting. So you did a review on MP, basically. Alright. Understandable. But I'm a straight-up single-player person, and I have to say that I liked it. I liked the storyline, the helplessness as a Marine (albeit the Predator fight could've been better), the stealthiness as an Alien (but the Predator fight was, again, underwhelming) and the sheer overpoweredness of a Predator (no complaints here). The game didn't TOTALLY suck, but it wasn't the best, either.

@directthis135 oh and colonial marines is still coming out... it's just been on hold for a while. Oh and gearbox stated that competitive multiplayer will be based off of the quake 2 gloom mod. for reference it's a mod where both teams have a "Spawner" character that is the teams boss. The spawner basically sets spawnpoints around the teams base and acts as a boss defending it. When the spawner dies in gloom mod then the team loses. Im exited for it >.<
This game does suck, i am a big aliens fan but rebellion basically just gave us the same thing as avp classic, with new graphics, a sniper rifle and a few new game modes.

They have the guns and marines from "Aliens" but nothing else from it... they didn't hesitate to make any Predator themed maps.
Dude, the second one was better than this and felt like the movie Aliens. The Predator didn't have as many weapons as it did such as the spear, netgun and speargun, which were in AVP2. Aliens vs Predator 2 setting seemed brighter than in AVP2, which had a completely dark setting, similar to Aliens. to the developers this game will never beat avp2 made by fox i bought avp for ps3 big disapointment of my life, the single player wasnt all that great i hope someday fox will port avp 2 to xbla and psnstore, avp 2 pc was epic.
What I also hate is the exicution animation. It would have been awsome IF THEY ADDED A CANCEL MOVE BUTTON or EVEN SHORTEN THE ANIMATION. Cuase siriously, I have seen five people get exicuted in a row in deathmatch . Why? Becuase the guy who started it couldn't cancle the move when he knew there was somebody behind him!
I bought this on steam for 9.99. I was expecting a single player campaign like AVP2 had with storyline. Instead is a boring sequence of waiting for elevators while the aliens conveniently strike in force just as you call and are waiting for elevators. In addition, the motion tracker shows nothing while you are moving around and all of a sudden an alien teleports into plain sight and your motion tracker starts showing them move defeating the point of the tracker completely...

i really looked forward to this game, but no modkit, no atmosphere, no dedicated servers, all of the MP skins look the same (they did'nt even stick tequila in as a playable MP skin!), they removed crouch, making you pay for DLC...the list goes on.
Got me on your side, I agree with your points here 100%. This game just felt like Xenomorphs thrown into the Predator universe. From the multiplayer aspect, anyway. No true collaboration, just a broken mishmash of creative works. This video is five months old, so you've probably found out by now, but Aliens: Colonial Marines actually hasn't been cancelled, just delayed by Sega to prevent sales interference with AvP. Rumors say Gearbox has it up for a 2010 release.
I personally think this game is fun. Espicially the Marines. But you are definatly right about the Predator. BUT FOR SAKE OF ALIENS THE MARINES NEED FLIPPIN HELMETS. I mean, if you were goin against aliens i would wear all the protective gear available! But anyway, this game is one of my favorite games!

Directthis135 i found a great game that kinda made me happy after this game, its called Alien Swarm (free on steam) and it gives you such a feeling of the old alien movies(its an over head shooter but u can make it FPS if you want(type firstperson into console)) for example you are in a squad of four and you basically move through different maps in a campaign with diff objectives in each map and some epic moments! there is welding doors, burning eggs etc. its also modder friendly!

New patch just released for the PC last week. Fixed just about all balance issues. Console patch should be out next month more then likely. New DLC maps were released and they are 10X better then the first DLC. Rebellion hasn't given up yet.

This is exactly why Monolith should've made this. They did a much better job with AVP2 than with what Rebellion did with AVP1. AVP2's multiplayer is the only thing that was bad but it's still pretty fun.

When a game is lacking what its predecessors are not, there is plenty wrong especially with splitting up rank matching, dedicated servers still in beta and all the glitches this game had for the first 2 months it was out.
Hated it. I didnt even finish the single player because I was fed up with the lack of good gameplay and overall shittyness. The light/darkness contrast were horrible, nothing in between. The aliens werent even fun to kill, I could pump 50 bullets in just two of them. They were too damn fast. Predator was an easy Kill. I wouldve rather played Alien trilogy from start to finish, it was far more true to the franchise. It had the Space Jockey in it for fuck sake and that was 1996!!
I agree with everything you said in this video. It's funny how theres so much terrible stuff to draw from as example that you didn't need to even scratch the surface on the actual mechanics of the game... which of course, also suck. Marines decking aliens in hand to hand combat. Rock paper scissors melee, and not even able to fucking AIM the melee attacks. Why not just put an aimbot in there for the ranged weapons too? It's not like aiming is a big part of an FPS, right? LOL.
Those who have not tried the AVP 2010, i suggest you give your true opinion and not follow the review, cause not everyone agrees on negative reviews. Find out urself whether you like the game or not, RENT THE GAME b4 u give ur real opinion
Gateway=base point for marines, jungle part for predator, dark caves for aliens... how is that just jungle? Pyramid is made for aliens... so many hidin spots and dark areas... keeps sayin all jungles yes but there all dark caves aswel and base points for marines... its balanced well in the maps.... i see his point though... he wanted like c block in survivor but bigger... my problem is the lack of maps in the game... agree with this video on things but its a decent game but could hav been epic
i Love the films, they were all great. But the creators of this game TRASHED their opportunity to make plenty of money and please their fans, instead they gave out this hunk of shit. Hopefully, they try agian on this game and listen to the complaints

Sega is publishing it but the developers aren't Rebellion, Gearbox software is making it , I'm predicting a release of Colonial Marines about er august-ish 2010

ffalsa i have 4 gb of ram Kingston HyperX, gts 250 and AMD Phenom 2 so my PC is nice for AVP, i play also Left4Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2 on HIGH..... but AVP sucks because of lags and gameplay im not one of milion people who says same thing for new AVP game ( S.U.C.K ) ! I buy it and i hate it thats my opinion !

Predator - Heavy spamming(second heavy if the first is countered cannot be countered) plasma and disk spamming sometimes at short range, i'm ok with grabs cept for the grab button mashers that sometimes it's so clear when the player is mashing it like crazy just to grab something and totally oblivious to the marine that walks by and gets a free kill because everyone knows grabbing leaves you open.

Marine - Shotgun, yeah the alien wall tailing most of the time can beat shotgun users if your lucky enough to not be killed in one shot even when your out of range not to mention, shouldn't the alien acid kill or seriously damage a marine that fires the shot gun at close range? Kill stealing and denials isn't it great when your about to deliver the final blow to a predator and some annoying marine passes by and kills you or the predator your fighting with? it's the only way they win.

Finally Alien - And this goes for myself too, first you have wall tailing oh boy have i been flamed for it but honestly when i'm the host and predators spam way too much i usually do two things first i send him a warning "do that again and i will wall tail you" if he keeps on spamming i will simply switch to pyramid for the next map, since their spamming usually fails and we can use wall tailing easy i use it to force predator spammers to leave. the other is grabbing and with this comes stealing

And once again it pisses me off, because i go through all the work of the ass kicking for some random alien passes by "an easy grab" and grabs the predator and takes my kill, so i took another measure against this i leave friendly fire on, so now when an alien steals my kill i'll simply hit him or kill him if he steals more then once. If he retaliates i send him a message, my usual play style is going by myself i may be in a team of 4 aliens but i always hunt for my kills i don't steal nor grab.

So to sum it up, i think the game had some neat ideas the alien was the first character i used in a video game that when i looked around i didn't have to drag my arms and everything else along with me except when your walking, and i love looking back or walking backwards and see my tail and everything. but the this is why i play the game until Alien colonial marines comes out if in case it actually does and has playable aliens, this is the only game i can play as alien so i'll stick to it.

This was interesting. So you did a review on MP, basically. Alright. Understandable. But I'm a straight-up single-player person, and I have to say that I liked it. I liked the storyline, the helplessness as a Marine (albeit the Predator fight could've been better), the stealthiness as an Alien (but the Predator fight was, again, underwhelming) and the sheer overpoweredness of a Predator (no complaints here). The game didn't TOTALLY suck, but it wasn't the best, either.

@directthis135 oh and colonial marines is still coming out... it's just been on hold for a while. Oh and gearbox stated that competitive multiplayer will be based off of the quake 2 gloom mod. for reference it's a mod where both teams have a "Spawner" character that is the teams boss. The spawner basically sets spawnpoints around the teams base and acts as a boss defending it. When the spawner dies in gloom mod then the team loses. Im exited for it >.<

This game does suck, i am a big aliens fan but rebellion basically just gave us the same thing as avp classic, with new graphics, a sniper rifle and a few new game modes.

Dude, the second one was better than this and felt like the movie Aliens. The Predator didn't have as many weapons as it did such as the spear, netgun and speargun, which were in AVP2. Aliens vs Predator 2 setting seemed brighter than in AVP2, which had a completely dark setting, similar to Aliens. I know a lot about Aliens, since I watched the whole 1,2,&3 when I was 1 yr old and grew up with it.

I bought this on steam for 9.99. I was expecting a single player campaign like AVP2 had with storyline. Instead is a boring sequence of waiting for elevators while the aliens conveniently strike in force just as you call and are waiting for elevators. In addition, the motion tracker shows nothing while you are moving around and all of a sudden an alien teleports into plain sight and your motion tracker starts showing them move defeating the point of the tracker completely...

i really looked forward to this game, but no modkit, no atmosphere, no dedicated servers, all of the MP skins look the same (they did'nt even stick tequila in as a playable MP skin!), they removed crouch, making you pay for DLC...the list goes on.

Got me on your side, I agree with your points here 100%. This game just felt like Xenomorphs thrown into the Predator universe. From the multiplayer aspect, anyway. No true collaboration, just a broken mishmash of creative works. This video is five months old, so you've probably found out by now, but Aliens: Colonial Marines actually hasn't been cancelled, just delayed by Sega to prevent sales interference with AvP. Rumors say Gearbox has it up for a 2010 release.

Directthis135 i found a great game that kinda made me happy after this game, its called Alien Swarm (free on steam) and it gives you such a feeling of the old alien movies(its an over head shooter but u can make it FPS if you want(type firstperson into console)) for example you are in a squad of four and you basically move through different maps in a campaign with diff objectives in each map and some epic moments! there is welding doors, burning eggs etc. its also modder friendly!

New patch just released for the PC last week. Fixed just about all balance issues. Console patch should be out next month more then likely. New DLC maps were released and they are 10X better then the first DLC. Rebellion hasn't given up yet.

When a game is lacking what its predecessors are not, there is plenty wrong especially with splitting up rank matching, dedicated servers still in beta and all the glitches this game had for the first 2 months it was out.

Hated it. I didnt even finish the single player because I was fed up with the lack of good gameplay and overall shittyness. The light/darkness contrast were horrible, nothing in between. The aliens werent even fun to kill, I could pump 50 bullets in just two of them. They were too damn fast. Predator was an easy Kill. I wouldve rather played Alien trilogy from start to finish, it was far more true to the franchise. It had the Space Jockey in it for fuck sake and that was 1996!!

I agree with everything you said in this video. It's funny how theres so much terrible stuff to draw from as example that you didn't need to even scratch the surface on the actual mechanics of the game... which of course, also suck. Marines decking aliens in hand to hand combat. Rock paper scissors melee, and not even able to fucking AIM the melee attacks. Why not just put an aimbot in there for the ranged weapons too? It's not like aiming is a big part of an FPS, right? LOL.

Gateway=base point for marines, jungle part for predator, dark caves for aliens... how is that just jungle? Pyramid is made for aliens... so many hidin spots and dark areas... keeps sayin all jungles yes but there all dark caves aswel and base points for marines... its balanced well in the maps.... i see his point though... he wanted like c block in survivor but bigger... my problem is the lack of maps in the game... agree with this video on things but its a decent game but could hav been epic

good review I do agree that rebellion are fucking us, they SHOULD release the SDK for it, I would make new maps for free :)
BTW Colonial Marines wasn't cancelled, it's release has been pushed back to later in 2010, I have it pre-ordered :)
Sega is publishing it but the developers aren't Rebellion, Gearbox software is making it , I'm predicting a release of Colonial Marines about er august-ish 2010
the preorder has cost me £25 for the PC version :)

@shitass999 ouch, ah well at least even though its pushed back further it means they have time to get the game finished properly, unlike other games ive played where the full game seems to be in a beta stage more often than not, AVP 2010 was one such game, glitches everywhere, and its taken 4 patches to get the glitches sorted.. when will they learn to finish a game properly like the old days?

Nothing in my opinion will ever live up to what AVP2 for the pc did for me. this game is joke and a theif to what could have been a possible GOTY the storie for these games are great AVP2 shit i still play that game today. but if you look at the track record for Rebellion we should have expected this to happen.

ffalsa i have 4 gb of ram Kingston HyperX, gts 250 and AMD Phenom 2 so my PC is nice for AVP, i play also Left4Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2 on HIGH..... but AVP sucks because of lags and gameplay im not one of milion people who says same thing for new AVP game ( S.U.C.K ) ! I buy it and i hate it thats my opinion !

Its simple, if you are a true fan of the AVP franchize, this game can't be good to you. Designers fucked up so many things. Campain is SHORT, environmnt is REPEATABLE for all 3 species, most of the maps are, as the author says, jungle themed, which sucks...
