Self-correction is good in that students recognize their own mistakes, but when it goes to far it is a hindrance. Students who pay too much attention to being perfect in their speech often lose fluency. When I'm practicing a language, I try to focus on one or two specific habits or mistakes I want to be better at. When I have made the correct form into a habit I move onto a new form.
Do you practice self-correction? What do you do about it?
