  • Great

  • Eric should've handed the singing to someone like Malford Milligan here so that he could concentrate on his guitar work.

He appears to get abit confused at times and that is understandable...the guitar solo in itself is enough to floor most people.

He's an incredible player and such a nice guy.

  • This is just my opinion so don't go mad here:

I saw Jimi live on many occasions from 1969-1970, even spoke to him in the streets of London. He was a great guy.

His live performances varied from superb to atrocious.(drugs overload) Somedays i saw him he could hardly move onstage.

Jimi came directly from Blues..Eric is a mix of everything from C&W to Jazz to Rock.

Technically, of course, Eric is a more accomplished player but he has lived alot longer than Jimi. Johnson is astonishing here!

  • My God...He truly sounds like he's using a bow on that thing. What a gorgeous, smooth warm tone. Unparalleled.

  • Haha EJ was at that age better then Hendrix ever was. I love Hendrix but the speed and the technique of EJ is so good! He can play with more then a pick. Very special performance. I think that Jimi would be proud. And wanted a battle :P

  • @annolenno he cant sing for shit and hendrix was better, watch monterey and u will think eric johnson can go wank himself

  • @mercifuldarkness And by the way, look at Cliffs of Dover live 1990. Hendrix would never done this. Why? Cause there is a mistake @ 3:16 and EJ is not thinkin: FUUUUUU. No, just play a freakin great improvisation for 2 minutes. And hear the speed. Its not natural. You gotta see it like this: Hendrix was a scout for the guitarplaying of today. He was a great guitarist. But today there are so many people who are better then him.

  • @annolenno he cant sing for shit and hendrix was better, watch monterey and u will think eric johnson can go wank himself

  • @mercifuldarkness Lol realy? Hendrix was a great guitarist, but he never was a good singer. I got the dvd of monterey(woodstock too). Great performance. But one performance vs a lot of performances of EJ is not fair. But still his technique was so worse. He never a one lesson. Idk of EJ had, but his technique is almost perfect. And the speed of EJ is way more faster than hendrix. I know its hard to believe, i needed three months for it. But EJ is way better then Hendrix ever was.

  • @annolenno

you write only shit, i think you must be born deaf !!!!!

  • @KillTheSpammer Why? I never said Hendrix was a bad guitarist. He was amazing!! But EJ is just better. Im sorry mate. But i got to say one thing: If Hendrix never lived, EJ wouldn't play guitar. Cause Hendrix made playing the guitar amazing.

  • @annolenno You have to remember that "better," regarding guitarists, is an opinion, which is neither true or false. Saying he's better is exclusive to you and others that agree with that statement. Better does not mean speed or technical ability. Whether or not other people were being rude to you for your opinion doesn't mean you need to state it as a fact. EJ and Hendrix are and were both fantastic guitarists. Hendrix is more to my likings, but that doesn't mean EJ is worse.

    Cheers.

  • that hair he is sporting blows

  • he kinda forcing it....

  • ... kinda gay

  • @brakspbfun My bad the lead is pretty good, but the singing ins't great.

  • At least I hear Eric Johson playing with the band. Not just EJ show here folks ^_^

  • lol okay....i know everyone's said that EJ rocks...but that drummer deserves some damn credit...thumbs up whoever this drummer is for not being boring as hell

  • Verry good, but there is only one Hendrix.

  • That run at the end is incredible, I've listened to hours and hours of Eric's music and that gives me chills every time I hear it.

  • EJ is great. When was this track recorded?

  • @EZIOTHEMASTER this concert is from 1984

  • Jeez, eric looks really young here. I think overall, he is way underratted; he is incredible talented at the guitar from a technical and non technical standpoint. Hes great at writing music, and probably his most overlooked side is his singing voice

  • @REPTARisGNARLY

he's always looked young for his age

most people looking at him would never guess he was in is 50's (I think 50s)

  • @REPTARisGNARLY He's definitely not under rated... He's mentioned as one of the best guitar players ever.... named with guys like Satriani, Vai, Hendrix, etc..... He sings enough that no one is overlooking his voice.

  • @beautifulmusical Hey fuck off asshole. Did I ask for your fucking response? Fuck no. Please proceed to suck my penis. Fuck this pussy shit, dragon Force ftw.

  • that was incredible

  • who let Gary Bussey in @ 4:46?

  • More importantly, who would be stupid enough to try and keep Gary Bussey out?

  • Always love watching EJ play. I wish I could find a place to download all of his ACL performances. I only got his '88 performance, and there was some of his 90's one with a blue jean jacket where he played Zenland. Would love to see the full show of that one.

  • man, so many songs but form the actual 84 acl of ej. i love watching these cut songs, there the best ones lol.
