I thought these cost less than $30k and no more if you are mechanically inclined and have tools to build the car unless you need to buy the motor/tranny separate unless if you are a rich little fat prick to pay someone else to BUILD your kit car.
it's just begging for an NRE ls7 1750hp like the Keeting TKR supercar it did 260MPH on 3 miles of dirt lake bed gear referenced boost controller.Program the Hp. to what sticks to the road what ever gear,RPM & acceleration demand It's like Hp. on an endless tap $52,000 well spent dollars
listen to what im saying i have research on every part and found a site with ls7 engine and im thinking about modifying the engine with a fast intake and throttlebody will add 20bhp and heads and cam will add 100 plus the intake filter im looking at around 650bhp if you diy it you will have a $50000 project these is including c6 z06 brakes new Aluminum Radiator porsche transaxle plus everything else for less than $50,000 you will be making more horsepower 0-60 top speed claims higher
It is possible to get the job done for under 60K but of the ones I am aware of were able to acquire many of the parts necessary through a salvage corvette. Mind you that is only going to get you an LS2 if you want the LS7 price jumps considerably. It is like anything in the automobile sector; you get what you pay for. Someone who spends 100K is going to have a better performance than someone who gets it done for 45K.
I did research on this and using ebay and other online sites you can pull this off for $42K. The Kit is $20K Donor C5 Corvette around $12K G50 Trans $3K Wheels and Tires $3K Paint $4K. Now this is for a donar car with 20K miles so you would have a used engine. The trany would be rebuilt and back to the engine that would only be 350 HP. If you want to do it right you need to get a 480HP LS3 crate engine from Jegs for about $8K making the cost $50K
depends on the donor vette, alot of em go with the ls7 427ci engine which buying an that engine brand new costs about 14k. that's not counting the tranny/drivetrain components that, come from a Porsche 911 when used with the ls7. Also basic labor rates on something that take weeks for some1 to handbuilt would ad up fast. If you have garage space, tools, and know-how, It's way cheaper to do it yourself, that way you know that everything was installed according to manufacturers specs.
@112namrepus the car uses a G50 transaxle or other, designed around the GM LS series motors with a adapter plate. If you want more horsepower, modify the LS or use a ZR1 LS7 motor,630 plus horse power motor. Both engines,GM or Ford can be modified to produce as much horsepower as the car can safely handle, but it's not worth the extra work and dollars to install a Ford V8 in the GTM kit.
You can calculate whatever you want, all the small parts add up very quickly to 60k minimum. I did not charge for labor, its about 1500-2000 hours on top. No auto works yet.
40-45k Is absolutely nowhere close to actual costs. To finish the car takes at least 60k; those who respond with less have clearly not built the vehicle.
You can put a radio in the GTM? I didn't know there was a spot to put one...

A real supercar for the true and proud gearhead who pays more attention to performance and less on attracting attention.
Wish I had the money and garage space to build my own. I would use an LS7 coupled to a G50. ..Someday...
MITengineering, you mentioned you were selling yours. If I were you I would never put a For Sale sign on it. It would be mine for life!

idk about not attracting attention

I'd use a Roush engine or some other engine. I wouldn't waste my time with a GM block.
112namrepus 3 years ago
why roush?

Have you ever driven or at least hear a Roush V8?
Nothin' quite like it.
I drove a Daytona Coupe with a 427RI 510HP and 575 ft lbs
VERY sweet car and sounded like thunder.
I've driven a Z06 and a lot of other cars but I think Roush makes the right V8 for me.
Definitely good to look into for a power plant for anything.

Would an automatic transmission work in it?
meerkat006 3 years ago
I don't think they make an auto Transaxle. So I highly doubt it.

how long did it take you to build?

Typical GTM costs are from 60-120k; This car is for sale for 95k.

That is a good interior; how much did it cost you including the kit?
saintdracula 4 years ago
$40,000 is the average cost per build, give or take a few custom options.

I would get a rouch eleminator 427 and a whippel supercharger. I have a friend who did that in an ald GT40 replica and it has 957 HP at the wheels!
