Perfect video to represent this song! GO RIDE A BIKE! I've been car free since March 2011. Thanks for this video and keep biking and listening to this awesome song!
@americannable Really? Is that a joke, or are you sincere? Whatever the case, I regret not taking more time to color correct the video. Granted, I had the cheap version of my editing software then and didn't have a ton of options. Still...
Boomer SOONER!! sitting in the ou library right now watching this vid cause i've had this song stuck in my head all day and i see OU in the vid. cool.
@blinky9873 Yeah, I get that same small-town feel from the song too, hence, the video being made the way it was. Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. :)
6:51 has me mesmerized. i quite like your video. The nature bits reminded me of Sigur Ros' Heima dvd. It's funny, I saw the Go Getter too but that was maybe a year ago and I didn't listen to AC yet, and not the Feels album for sure. But yeah it sucked. And I had bought it too, bc it was cheap and I hoped it would be good, eh. And ZD wasn't in the film as much as I hoped. Anyway, I'm really in love with this song.
Hey I just posted an "unofficial" video that I made to this song... there are some really interesting similarities between them. Like the travelling theme. Coritoburrito is my name.
this is a very good song and you wouldve ruined it with that very not-good montage if id watched all of it but you decided to ruin it instead by putting roscoe on the end, bad move
Do you really think the use of Roscoe contributes that much in a negative way for the movie? Do you not like that song? Or Midlake for that matter?
Well, I'm disappointed to have let so many Animal Collective fans down. I would have liked to have done a narrative music video for the song, but finding people willing to do these things (note that I'm the bike rider in the movie and only crew member) is usually rather difficult.
The video still holds some meaning for me. I had this song going through my head every time I took this bike ride (a daily ride to school). I hoped others would view the song in the same way. Guess not.
I may attempt to do that narrative video sometime. Though I doubt any of you would really care... Bleh.
no i think it contributes negatively to the end of the song because it sets such a somber mood and roscoe is a little to upbeat, going to silence would have been much better, soak up that music
but i like midlake
make an artists' excuse.
nah wouldn't you figure that is just a personal experience from repetition?
I actually always try to go for more of a contrast between the "main song" and the one played over the closing credits. And I also try to keep a lot of variety in the closing credits songs--not a lot of artist repeats and consisting of bands that I want to get more exposure. The way I figure it; at least those who hate my videos may at least get introduced to some great music.
Just a personal experience perhaps, but I think there are more than enough music videos that are direct...
interpretations of the lyrics, trippy lightshows, spectacles of the "think of how much time that would take to do?" variety (elabroate dominos set-ups, stop-motion work, etc.), or bland, useless pieces that just feature the artist playing the song on a stage.
Granted, I've certainly dabbled in the first three. Nothing wrong with them inherently. But I like to see a lot of variety in the music videos that I myself watch. So I attempt to do the same thing in my own work.
I certainly wish that amateur music video filmmakers would do more work like this.
I should say that this wasn't supposed to be filmed in a snowy environment. The snow in this video was fresh, and I didn't know it was there until I woke up.
I probably would have filmed more footage and with more camera steadiness, image clarity, et al. had it not been so damn cold.
And not having someone else with me was disappointing. I was really wanting to have the camera be operated by someone else (probably me with somebody else playing the bicyclist) on another bike, and have us follow the bicyclist in motion.
That I couldn't do this did result in some fixed-position shots that I really liked in the end, but still... To think of what could have been.
you should never pick a credit song that contradicts the video's atmosphere unless its intentionally to confuse a viewer.
and this is not the right way to do it
also you should tone down your self importance on your work too (or whatever you call it, excuse me for educated assumption), i dont really want to read an extensive overview of your views on music videos and the way you believe they should be executed.
but i agree it is disappointing to not have at least someone to assist you
You know, I have no problem with people not liking my videos and voicing their opinions thereof. But just make sure to actually note what you didn't like.
"Shit sux" and "very bad indeed" don't tell me anything about why the video's bad.
Hell, it's the same thing with compliments too. If I could factor in your full opinion by reading your mind, I would. But I can't.
Whoa, thanks everyone! I'm glad you all enjoyed it. :)
