  • My high school is doing this show and I'm Jo. She is so inspiring, and I love the way she played Jo. Amazing.

  • 4:05 gives me chills every time

  • how old is the girl wit the dark pink shirt?

  • the cuts were needed because it became redundant. great job Sutturs

  • I luv this vid!How did u get it?Just curious

  • the little ones voice reminds me of bernadette peters.

  • This is so much fun to watch! Sutton is amazing. It's clear that she had a blast doing this role. :)

  • Nice close up of that guy's head lol Foster is awesome.

  • Why is it a semitone higher than the recording?

  • @choonk99 This probably was recorded prior to opening, and keys, lyrics, arrangements get all sorts of changes during the preview period. They probably wanted a different from Sutton, I'm guessing, so they lowered so she could use less of a mix. But that's just me speculating.

  • lol i love Sutton :D <3

  • I Love Sutton Foster!! She makes a perfect Jo!

  • I'm semi-glad they took out the refference to the Scottish play... =)

  • this is amazing !!!!

SHE IS AMAZING.. gosh.. i love sutton :)

  • 4:07 "We won't quit and we won't fail"

that's my favourite bit. it makes me sad they didn't keep that bit in the final show/cast recording.

  • yeah, they changed this song from the out of town tryouts, too. It was called "An Operatic Tragedy" before it was changed to "Our Finest Dreams"

  • Sutton! :D <3

  • All I can say is Brava!!! :)

  • I like this version much better than the one on the CD! They should have kept this one!

  • AHHHHHHH!!!! I <3 SUTTON!!!!!!!!!

  • This is cool, they must have changed it before it opened though this song is very different from the OBC soundtrack, there is no "Christmas will be GORY!" that was my favourite part.

  • You don't know how long this tune has been in my head without me managing to identify it. I've tried online melody tappers and guessing erroneous lyrics into google. Thank goodness I found it! Hurrah! I love this song ^^

  • this is great! =]

i love this version so much more!!!

i like seeing the rehearsal it's cute

  • this is way higher than the final production!

  • agreed.

  • you gotta add the fasite. its awsome!

  • u suck u dont know good talent when u see it. sorry to say.

  • sutton<3

  • man, this version is WAY better...the other girls get all that beautiful harmony! I wish this was the performing version.

  • Me too!

    :/

  • same! why on earth did they take that part out? it was my favorite part of the song... :(

  • woot that was fantabulous! lol

loved it loved it loved it!

  • Amy McAlexander does not get enough credit. She's the perfect irritating little sister.

I love how she says "No, I can't- not with a flat nose!" and Sutton just gives her a look.

  • i love sutton! shes the best

  • The lyrics are a lot different than the CD.

  • LOL at the guys head just in the middle of the shot 3.05-3.15

  • Hahaha I love Sutton's death. She's fabulous.

  • I agree xs millions.

    Sutton is fantastic :D

  • I want a video of Sutton singing Astonishing...

  • higher key....

  • Wow! This is soo interesting! Little Women is one of my *all time* favorite shows and this number is my FAVORITE song from the entire album! It's my *dream role* to play Jo March in this musical! I love EVERYTHING that has to do with Little Women! Musical AND book! ^-^

  • I love this version. I kinda sorta like it better.

  • That was really good.

  • WOW ,, different lyrics.. and a way higher key.. ... I like the recording better..

BUT SUTTON... i am naming my first born after her!!!!

  • I like this version of the song better myself!

  • megan!! the girl tat plays beth i met her!! she came to my school

  • Oo... they changed the lyrics! It's always so cool to hear the writer's progression.

  • i miss being in this show!

  • sutton plays jo to perfection!!

  • I love this video thank thank you. I was hoping to find it again, Sutton Foster is the best to play Jo, she was born to sing and act :D

  • The lyrics are so different!

Workshops are interesting to watch.. thanks for this!

  • that's the point in this song. duh.

  • Not really talking about just this song.

  • the role was kinda suppost to be that way. Jo is a very passionate character.

  • She has such control over her voice... I personally prefer this key to the one on the recording. I like Sutton's head voice, and its not shown that much as she's always belting.

  • AMAZING!!!!!! i wish i had gotten to see this

  • ahhh i love amy mcalexander. and sutton of course =]

  • my favorite <3

  • Sutton Foster is amazing!!! She's my role model for musical theater. And it's fun to see the original cast perform this, and how the song has changed from this to the actual show. The words are WAY different.

  • I luvv how Sutton imitates blood coming out of her.

  • Hehe, I love how they all have jeans under their skirts.

  • Anyone know where this was held? Ripley Grier, Chelsea Studios....?

  • is that stephen sondheim upstage left watching?!

  • I can't be a hundred percent sure, but I don't think it is. One of the guys watching is sitting in a way that Sondheim does not (especially for a man of 75, which is how old he would've been at the time), and he doesn't look like him, ha, and the other guy (the guy I think you might be thinking is Sondheim), his hair is way too white to be Sondheim. Sondheim's hair is gray, not white. Plus, there's no reason he would be there, ha.

  • is this in a higher key?

  • Yes, the key on the recording is D while this is F.

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS!!

  • Sutton is SO AMAZING!

  • I LOVE THIS MUSICAL! i saw this a couple years ago w. Sutton as Jo. Thanks for posting this!

  • -giggles-

"Years from now...people will talk about us."

I love how Sutton says it!

  • Gosh Suttton is SO awesome!!

  • What version is this? Some of the words are different. But it's still one of my faves. Oh, and I love the Jo's death scene, lol....

  • I think it's a workshop one.

  • oOoOoOoh, gotcha. That makes sense, thanx! :)

  • No problem. Are you a CSI fan, by any chance?

  • i love this song!!
