@choonk99 This probably was recorded prior to opening, and keys, lyrics, arrangements get all sorts of changes during the preview period. They probably wanted a different from Sutton, I'm guessing, so they lowered so she could use less of a mix. But that's just me speculating.
This is cool, they must have changed it before it opened though this song is very different from the OBC soundtrack, there is no "Christmas will be GORY!" that was my favourite part.
You don't know how long this tune has been in my head without me managing to identify it. I've tried online melody tappers and guessing erroneous lyrics into google. Thank goodness I found it! Hurrah! I love this song ^^
Wow! This is soo interesting! Little Women is one of my *all time* favorite shows and this number is my FAVORITE song from the entire album! It's my *dream role* to play Jo March in this musical! I love EVERYTHING that has to do with Little Women! Musical AND book! ^-^
She has such control over her voice... I personally prefer this key to the one on the recording. I like Sutton's head voice, and its not shown that much as she's always belting.
Sutton Foster is amazing!!! She's my role model for musical theater. And it's fun to see the original cast perform this, and how the song has changed from this to the actual show. The words are WAY different.
I can't be a hundred percent sure, but I don't think it is. One of the guys watching is sitting in a way that Sondheim does not (especially for a man of 75, which is how old he would've been at the time), and he doesn't look like him, ha, and the other guy (the guy I think you might be thinking is Sondheim), his hair is way too white to be Sondheim. Sondheim's hair is gray, not white. Plus, there's no reason he would be there, ha.
My high school is doing this show and I'm Jo. She is so inspiring, and I love the way she played Jo. Amazing.

that's my favourite bit. it makes me sad they didn't keep that bit in the final show/cast recording.

yeah, they changed this song from the out of town tryouts, too. It was called "An Operatic Tragedy" before it was changed to "Our Finest Dreams"

Amy McAlexander does not get enough credit. She's the perfect irritating little sister.
I love how she says "No, I can't- not with a flat nose!" and Sutton just gives her a look.
