@bamaedgecore, the new 5.0 mustangs put out 412 @ 6,500 rpm. I'm pretty sure that a stock 5.0 could beat an fg2. and I'm not defending either one, I'm just saying that put the two up stock and the mustang will win if both have good drivers begind the wheel. Okay so the 2011 BMW M3 and 2011 5.0 Mustang have the same 8th mile drag time.
In the 4th mile and 1/2 mile the M3 wins.
On a full circuit track with bends the M3 wins by a large margin with the same driver in both cars. Why? The M3 has a superior engine with better control and timing as well as better suspension. The mustang is rough in its timing and has shitty suspension. At one point it almost flew off the track in a bend while the M3 took the same curve comfortably

In a drag race, yes the ZR1 beat the GTR, but only by a small fraction, because the GTR is designed more for narrow street racing and touring. The ZR1 is an American straight line muscle car with entry level super car performance.

I have stripped down my truck (1972 C10 2WD 1/2 ton) and put a 400 crank in my 350 stroked it to 383. Ported the heads, ran a dual quad set up edelbrock manifold and 660 carbs, put hooker headers on it, converted to electric fans, took out the turbo 350 trans put in a 700R4. Now you're sayin imports. Because there is top acceleration and top speed. SOme cars are slow off the line compared to others, but once it builds momentum it WILL surpass its competitors. Lamborghini's are known for this. The Veyron even does this.
You have to account for ALL speeds not just an 8th mile
Fast acceleration is nice, but the faster top speed wins in a drag.

@bamaedgecore, as an 8th gen owner (the new civics) and owning one since they were released in 05, I know everything about them, and put one up against a mustang 5.0, the mustang is going to win. both cars are somewhat similar in weight probably being only about a 600 lb difference (the mustang being the heavier) in which the power from the 5.0 liter easily makes up for. Therefore, the 412 hp stang is going to beat the 197 hp Si. please dont ever try to say anything about FG2's ever again.
You do realize the 412 is brake horsepower, right? The mustang only makes about 312-320 horsepower at the wheels. Put that with its terrible suspension, heavy engine and body weight, and clunky transmission with too many gears that divides the power band too much and the civic will win. I have personally seen it on different occasions with my own eyes.

@bamaedgecore, the new 5.0 mustangs put out 412 @ 6,500 rpm. I'm pretty sure that a stock 5.0 could beat an fg2. and I'm not defending either one, I'm just saying that put the two up stock and the mustang will win if both have good drivers begind the wheel. I love FG2's more than mustangs but i have respect for mustangs and I dont like when people brag about stock civics. thats one of the reasons most people dis on hondas.

Well another redneck making us muscle car owners look bad. As a muscle car owner I love Honda. It is a great reliable car. It was not built to race. Its FWD and produces 150 hp for a reason. Good gas mileage, and reliability. I would never count on my muscle car to be nearly as reliable as my Acura, but I would never hot rod my Acura.

2. The Ford GT is a tuner, it is not a muscle. It is designed to compete with supercars like Lamborghini's and Maseratis, not Mustangs and Camaros. Tuner car class. Tuner CAR.
3. 600+ hp and a 383 stroked? Not on a 1/4 or 1/8 straight, but put it on a road with turns and you'll be stuck trying to figure out what to do at the first bend.

Okay so the 2011 BMW M3 and 2011 5.0 Mustang have the same 8th mile drag time.
In the 4th mile and 1/2 mile the M3 wins.
On a full circuit track with bends the M3 wins by a large margin with the same driver in both cars. Why? The M3 has a superior engine with better control and timing as well as better suspension. The mustang is rough in its timing and has shitty suspension. At one point it almost flew off the track in a bend while the M3 took the same curve comfortably

The M3 and Mustang are both within the same racing bracket. The GTR has outperformed a Porsche 911 GT3, and in track races beat the ZR1.
In a drag race, yes the ZR1 beat the GTR, but only by a small fraction, because the GTR is designed more for narrow street racing and touring. The ZR1 is an American straight line muscle car with entry level super car performance.
Now YOU are moving into upper tier cars...

Plus I didnt know you could have a "stripped down 383 stroked stripped down", as in it has been stripped down twice since you've had it.
Because I have seen alot of ricers that are exactly the opposite and are LOADED and can still beat your muscle car truck.
Just look at a Supra. or an S2000, or a Civic Si, or a Lancer Evo, WRX STi, Skyline, 350z, 370zx, GT-R...

I have stripped down my truck (1972 C10 2WD 1/2 ton) and put a 400 crank in my 350 stroked it to 383. Ported the heads, ran a dual quad set up edelbrock manifold and 660 carbs, put hooker headers on it, converted to electric fans, took out the turbo 350 trans put in a 700R4. Now you're sayin imports. You said HONDA. I own an 88 supra.

Because there is top acceleration and top speed. SOme cars are slow off the line compared to others, but once it builds momentum it WILL surpass its competitors. Lamborghini's are known for this. The Veyron even does this.
You have to account for ALL speeds not just an 8th mile
Fast acceleration is nice, but the faster top speed wins in a drag.

@bamaedgecore, as an 8th gen owner (the new civics) and owning one since they were released in 05, I know everything about them, and put one up against a mustang 5.0, the mustang is going to win. both cars are somewhat similar in weight probably being only about a 600 lb difference (the mustang being the heavier) in which the power from the 5.0 liter easily makes up for. Therefore, the 412 hp stang is going to beat the 197 hp Si. please dont ever try to say anything about FG2's ever again.

You do realize the 412 is brake horsepower, right? The mustang only makes about 312-320 horsepower at the wheels. Put that with its terrible suspension, heavy engine and body weight, and clunky transmission with too many gears that divides the power band too much and the civic will win. I have personally seen it on different occasions with my own eyes.
