  • I was about to give up on my homework until I came across this video. The textbook couldn't even explain it clearly. Thanks a bunch!

  • Xbrunk: I agree with you. I am from Canada and I am 15 and am learning this stuff. Academics are very low in USA

  • @didafm i know, and then other countries ask why in US there is so much academic progress!

  • better at teaching than my alg 2 teacher

  • I have been having quite a lot of trouble with inequalities recently, having never been able to understand them, but you explained it so clearly, more so than the measly textbook i own. Now that i understand, i just wanted to say thanks! Your video was very helpful. :)

  • I like how you explain things, thanks

  • @RocketToTheMoonXx my pleasure : )

  • is there a video of one that you cant factor?

  • @GreenScreenPunkGirl i am sure there is. typically i just use the quadratic formula if it does not factor easily, so you may check those out.

  • you have saved my igcse bottom thank you so much

  • okay thank you very much for the video, i guess it really helper but I'd like to ask how would you solve something like : 0<x^2-16x+52, when i factorised it i got x=8+2srt3 and x=8-2sqrt3, so how would you plug these into the equation to make sure if the numbers bigger or smaller than these factors are bigger than zero,, It'd be much appreciated if u could help :)))))

  • my book only explains the most difficult stuff so I understand that but flys through the less difficult bits which are more difficult cuz u have no clue wth is going on. This video cleared up everything. THX!

  • SO HELPFUL :D MY TEACHER NEVER BROKE IT DOWN JUST FLY'S THROUGH IT UGH.. THANK YOU!!!

  • i got it until you gave the solutions, i go to school in england and we have to give them as inequalities as well. so what would be the solution for that example in that form? would greatly appreciate an answer

  • If you sketch a graph that would work?

  • I recomended you!

  • I learned this stuff today and i was confused but you broke it down so that i can understand it. Thanks yo. I can do my hw now!!!

  • Yup, Skipping my 1st period to study for math final! Thanks bro

  • i like the way u explain things my teacher just confuses me.....

  • is there a faster way of checking the number line?

  • thank you, this very much helped :)

  • Very clear demonstration! I missed a day of class and this caught me up!

  • you're a life saver, man.

  • Thanks man You just earned yourself another subscriber

  • Thanks man, I have been trying to get my head around this for weeks!!

  • You taught me something in 7 minutes when my teacher couldn't teach the same thing in 2 hours...

  • thank you so much. you explained this so much better than my current instructor.

  • Can you help me with this one? 3x-5>5x-9

  • @MrsRat2U

    3x-5>5x-9

    2x<4

    x<2

    I hope this helped!!!

  • This helped me a lot. I've been having trouble in math and was giving up for a while, but then I remembered about your videos. Thank you for posting this! I love your videos and how you explain it detailed yet short and simple ;D

  • Thanks so much

  • thank u so much! i was getting worried for my exam in math this tuesday until i watched this..this really helped me a lot..now i will always check on your videos everytime i'm having math issues..thanks a lot man! thanks a lot! :D

  • @tony18rose glad i could help! spread the word about the videos to your friends and teacher!

  • PatrickJMT > My Teacher

  • omg thank you soo much!

  • thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!! I missed a day in class and this totally caught me up. :)

  • @Shelbell241 glad i could help ; ) come back any time you need some extra help!

  • I use the discriminant b^2 - 4ac and the general shapes of quadratic graphs to solve these but your method is pretty cool and interesting.

  • im taking a online class and this has helped me sooo much.. THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  • ty so much.. way better than my teacher OR my book

  • You saved my life. seriously.

  • THANK YOU! You've taught me more in 8 minutes then I've learned at school in 4 weeks. No lie.

  • a quadratic inequality graph..:)

  • hey mr.patrickJMT do you have a video sketching a quadratic graph ? i don't really quite understand it

  • I might not actually die this semester ;D Thank youuu :3

  • Wow, thanks for this... Really thank you...

  • Thank you so much, you made it easier to understand!

  • thank u so much...great help

  • I love you! >:D<

  • THANK YOU SOOO MUCH my college algebra teacher goes so fast i cant keep up

  • Thank you very much :D

  • Thx! I totally understand now. My prof taught the table method which confused me a lot. This is better. :)

  • @thatgurlwithglasses you are very welcome!

  • Thank you so much. You are a life saver, not even exaggerating. Just spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out what my book was telling me to do, and you just laid it out to me in 7.

  • @lolernie glad i was able to help you so quickly : )

  • God I love you so much. I'm taking pre-cal this semester. Again, I .... L.O.V.E you.

  • @marius666 * kiss kiss * tell your friends to watch! : )

  • Thank you for your help. This was very helpful. Keep this coming.

  • instead of finding the numbers bellow -4 and above 2 cant you just add 0 into the equation and if that doesn't work then it will be separated in the middle like that?

  • Your explanation is so much better than my Indian professor's. I'll definitely be coming back to your vids through the year.

  • DUDE im doin geometry this year and highschoool and your videos are kickass... you explain it sooo much better than teachers, takes teachers a week to explain it properly but you got down in nearly 8 minutes!!!! kickass dude

  • Thanks, this helped.

  • Yo, you're beast man

  • hey patrick where are all your precalculus videos?

  • roll me up another blunt cuz...I feel like dying. I feel like dying. I feel like flying.

  • THANK YOU! Can you be my new math teacher?

  • you're the best guy!

  • Thanks!! That was very helpful!!

  • @olzabl123 c1 today

  • Hey can you teach my teacher how to teach?

  • im currently pulling an all nighter studying for finals n u have noooo idea how much this helped. thank you :)

  • how would u set out the solution using x. wud you just replace the u?

  • That helps. Thanks =)

  • Thanks. It helped. Always nice to see a slightly different way to doing it and slightly different explanation than the book. Helps reinforce things.

  • ne way how would that number line convert in n<x<n?

  • love the union paid commercial.....maybe if all teachers were like this guy and cared enough to help ppl like this guy does ppl would think teachers were worth the money

  • Took College Algebra online after being out of HS 30 years. Teacher gave zero input. No online videos, no explanations, nada, nothing...just gave out tests every 3 weeks. Everyone flunked the class but me. I should have paid you the $600 rather than the school. Thanks!!

  • thx

  • Thankyou sooo much you are a lot better than my math teacher!!!

  • OMG...I got a 93 B yesterday, woohooo!!!! thanks to this! thank you so much! ugh...OMG! First time I've ever gotten an A on a math test this year...

  • this really helped! i got a 97 on the math test the next day! this is awesome!

  • Testing intervals are okay when there are a few critical values. But what about when there are more? How about (x+8)^2/(x+5)^4(x+2)^7/(x-1)^4/(x-4)(x-7)^3(x-9)^5<0? I think that an alternate method should be used like the one in my video. =D

  • Thank you, again!

  • I love you dude.

  • @Cornbreadddd i love you too, cornbearddddd. all buttered up....

  • thanks you that helped me so much!!

  • i think im gonna sleep in class and come learn from you

    #onlinehelpFTW

  • @KidBlasty Same. He taught me more in eight minutes than my teachers can teach me in an hour and a half.

  • nice. you broke it down and simplified it real well.

  • Thanks man, teachers always seem to assume we already know most of the stuff and they don't explain it well, at least, that's what my experience has been like. Great vids.

  • i'm not sure if the work i did is right,but i have this algebra project where i have to graph 10 inequalities.for example,y<2x^2+4x-1. i did -B/2A to get x.so its -4/4=-1.thats x. then i plugged in x. -2^2-4-1. 4-4-1. 0-1=-1 that's what i got for y;(-1,-1) Am i right in this case?

  • greatest moment of my life

    understanding this.

  • Thanx a lot

  • Thank you.

You really know how to teach student of these days :)

    you're so great :)

Basic is very important thank you

    thank you

  • just a question, are these voice overs? thanks for the great lesson

  • yea the 4 dislikes are definetly from my hating teachers >-> there just mad they cant be as awsome as you >:D

  • THANK YOU. I finally understand this stuff. I really like your clear methodology :D

  • @patrickJMT well...first of all I'm a highschool student from Bosnia, and i got one(lowest mark, it meant that i didn't pass my math class), then two days ago, i got a FIVE+(equivalent to A+) after a couple of your videos, and i have to say that i am EXTREMELY grateful to you, and i think your videos are really helpful, since you made me an A+ student, literally OVER NIGHT!!!!!! ...if i were a girl, i would marry you...(since im having trouble with viete's formulas XD).

  • why cant you be my teacher

  • your videos are really helpful. thanks a lot.

  • The left handed are geniuses take it from me =)

thanks alot , however here we don't use a number line , we use a table full of signs instread ?

  • @rockangel7777 it is all the same.

  • can x>-3 and X<-5 be written as -3<x<-5.

  • @sgh102 yes

  • @patrickJMT thanks for your help and your vids are really helpful aswell :)

  • @patrickJMT No, you cannot. There is no x value that can possibly be contained in the interval: -3 < x < -5. I think Patrick thought the interval was -3 < x < +5. Yes?

  • @SilverstoneSarah ops, yes you are correct; i did not see the negative on the 5.

  • @sgh102 please see silverstonesarah's comment

  • @patrickJMT Thanks

  • @sgh102 you would need to put your x values back into the factored formula and see if it comes greater or less than zero

  • DAYUM, wish you taught my math class.

    Real helpful stuff, Patrick.

  • thank you, you're amazing!

  • thank you !

  • can you help me with solving a quadratic inequality by completing the square and then graphing it on a coordinate plane? thanks i really need help.

  • hey pat..... thanks so much for your videos, have a finals tommorow and they helped me alot. and you have really neat writing.

  • I'm left handed. and i noticed that when im writing on a whiteboard, I'm erasing all my writings.

  • what about when there's y in place of the 0. ex: y<-3x squared. I don't know how to solve these when u have to graph a parabola. I'm very confused! Plz HELP!

  • Thankyou very much, struggled slightly with this topic, you explained it very easily and examples were very easy to follow, thanks again!

  • Will you ever show your face?

  • great teacher.....

  • hey im on this topic not it is called: using sketch graphs to solve quadratic inequations, and i need help i am absolutely lost.... theres this one question

    -x^2 + 5x-6>0

    (x-3)(x-2)<0

    x<3 x<2

is how i do it but the answer is 2<x<3 how come? help please T_T

  • @snuffygirl1 You have (x-3)(x-2)<0. Therefore you have to find all the x values for which y (in this case(x-3)(x-2)) is negative or in other words below the x axis. The y values are negative when 2<x<3.

  • the only thing you could do to make your videos better is become right handed, so we can see what you're writing as you're writing it! haha excellent videos thank you thank you thank you

  • @MrRalphSwan maybe in the next life : )

  • @patrickJMT i think you should write from right to left ( it's a joke)

  • Thanks HEEEEAPS for the help!

This video alone makes all the years of tutoring I had to go through look like nothing. Could have spent my time watching your videos instead letting my parents flush that money down the drain :/

  • Thanks so much. I finally understand :)

  • Patrick you are THE MAN!!!!

I srsly rely on you videos so much... If I don't understand something in class I just tell myself whatever I will go watch Patrick's video on this lesson xD

And when ever someone tells me that they are struggling in math I recommend your channel to them

Thank you so much for all your help =]

  • @LoLoGirl404 my pleasure, happy to help : )

  • You are so helpful, I just want to thank you for taking the time putting these videos up to share with everyone....Thanks a Million

  • You are so helpful, I just want to thank you for taking the time putting these videos up to share with everyone....Thanks a Million

  • Hey patrick i'm 10 and i've been doing algebra since i was 5 so now i'm at precalc and such.... For some reason i was never able to do quadratic inequalities. I had algebra 2 workbook for dummies and i just didn't understand. I was extremely chary to go on with algebra 2 after seeing this i realize that you are the best math teacher ever. Make more videos! Please respond!

  • @noahmariogreene glad i could help!

  • @patrickJMT Yeah thanks!

  • I'll bet it sucks being left handed and having to write on a dry erase board. Anyways... that was totally random!

    Great great video. Thanks!

  • I LOVE YOU!!!!!! you are amazing i want your babies!

  • you have no idea how great full and thank full i am right now that youve posted this video! thank you soooo much! i finally understand pre-cal (:

  • Pat, i want to be able to help people like you do. How do i become a very good math student. Any way thanks for the videos.

  • @derrickus4455 as with anything, to be proficient takes lots of time and practice. there are no shortcuts that i know of!

  • thanks!no i'm not in trouble for my upcoming report!

i just have an equation i want you to slove(well if you like): = x+3 all over x-1 is greater than or equal to 2...

=3 all over x-3 is less than or equal to 1 all over x+2..and last equation

= 5x all over x-3 plus 2 all over 3-x is greater than or less than 0..

can show the solution?..cause I'm kinda stuck at that equationsss...

  • I got a question tough...

If I got the equation of:

x^2>0 how to I solve it? (the "^" sign means its a quadratic number)

    Or x^2-10x+25=0

    I got that X=5

and in the results the answer is that X doesnt equals to 5...

  • Dude, thanks for your help. Just got my exam results ton Tuesday - and i got an A* in Maths. Thanks again!

  • @lVlWR congrats : ) very good job!

  • Great help this was thank you.

  • that was really good thank u sir

  • life saver!!

  • couldn't do without u

  • Sign graph?

  • Your videos are AMAZING! Please come to England and replace both my maths teachers as they are POOR! My target grade is an E and Im like well if you could teach it might help me, so these videos are my saving grace! However how do you solve inequalities already in factor form, but not as Ive found any of your ex.s: x(x+1) < 12 ? But thank you soo much!

  • @ARSENALTHEEDIBLE1234 Expand the brackets so you get x^2 + x < 12. - 12 from both sides so you get x^2 + x - 12 < 0 And then factor: (x-3)(x+4). Here you have the two solutions x=3 and x=-4 and you know where to go from here.

  • u lost me on the factor bit

  • haha i just realised you're also left handed :L and thanks so much for ur help!

  • where did you get the ( x + 4 ) ( x - 2 )?

  • great man thanx

  • thank you!! more examples are always welcomed!

  • Isn't it more convenient to check 'a' in your original inequality, and draw the parabola on the number line and read from it? Then you don't have to go through all the substitutions.

  • awesome! great help, thanks :)

  • ahh! this helps so much! thank you!

  • Thanks again Mr. P.

  • thank you so much man you have help me so much

  • why is it explained in such a long way? it's easier just to check the sign of the coefficient of x^2, if it's positive, all values between the roots are negative, if its negative, all values between the roots are positive, you can check that with a graph. ETC

  • Yeah thats how i do it, i also draw a shitty sketch of the curve so i dont loose myself. Way faster.

  • its funny how many people have shitty maths teachers!

I used to know how to do this myself, but I ain't done it for a couple years, and this is so clear I understand it perfectly! Ta

  • thank you so much for this! it makes total sense now. my math teacher is retarded or something idk what his problem is...

  • well try do (x-3)^2 = x^2

how the f**k do you do that?

  • (x-3)^2 = x^2 is not an equation of a curve.

  • well apparently the book must be wrong then (not)

  • man u r awesome! y does math seem so easy when u tell it?! in class its like learnin Russian!

  • u think u have it bad? my teacher IS russian!!! u know how hard it is to understand in russian accent ='(

  • @Sorrow707 I am russian and I F*CKING AGREE.

  • can i borrow your brain for just one day? im bad at math ya know, and tomorrow i have a math exam its kinda suck!!! you are so talented!

  • When you write down the solution in interval solution don't forget to state why you use brackets on one number and paranthesis on the other number. Although, you sort of did state it but for the people dont know i think you should state what it means. Great Video, 5* Good Work
