ive gust had 8 eggs hach from ech of my finches 4 r black cheeked finches and 4 normel, hothiuly thal make it but ther in a avery out side and 2 bengles have gust lad 2 eggs as well cant w8t

kool vid...mine have made a nest an everything an they have 4 eggs in the nest an the first egg will he hatching in a few days so i'm happy an can't wait to watch the parent take care of them

Yup they did, i have gotten 3 sets of babies 7 babies total but the last 2 sets i had to hand raise, it takes 12 to 14 days for the eggs to hatch, you start counting day 1 after the 3rd egg is laid. Good Luck : )

Aah! bet they are so cute, do you know how long the eggs are inside the female before she starts laying? reason i am asking is coz i am going away in 4 wks so dont want to miss it all, the nest building, laying and hatching whilst away so if i try and mate them now it might all happen whilst away.

lol yup they are.. the female has egg yolks in her but she wont let the male mate with her unless she is in breeding mood.. you have to buy a nest basket an once the male and female build the thenest she will be ready to mate and after they mate she should lay the first egg 2 or 3 days later and she will lay 1 egg a day till there are 3 to 6 eggs in the nest

I have a male and bought what i was told was a female, put them together, put the little basket in and they made a nest, that was nearly 12 wks ago, but no eggs, havent even seen them trying to mate, i have since been told its a male, tho duz seem odd they made a nest if both male. I now definately have a female so will try breeding in a few wks.

do you know how many days after mating they laid the first egg??? i watch my finches free in my bedroom mating 5 days now and still nothing

So cute!! Mine hatched 4 days ago, and are still very small and fluffy. I'm a bit worried about when they grow bigger though, as there's 5 and the nest is a similar size to this and covered! Do you think they'll be alright??

They have since had a second batch, 5 eggs but after a few days only 3 babies survived. I guess it was too much work for the parents to feed all 5 of them. The 3 remaining are in great health and started to fly yesterday! So adorable.

Wow! I'm really looking forward to when mine start flying :) The parents seem to be coping well with all 5, which is good.
