yes you can bathe a newborn but she is too young, her umbilical cord hasnt fallen off yet which is extremely dangerous. the baby can get really sick!!! they tell you all of this in the hospital, dont get impatient and bathe her/him too early!!!
you can OF COURSE bathe a newborn, just ensure that the umbilical stump is gently dried and aired afterwards. you will not cause an infection by bathing your baby.
you are much more likely to cause infection if for example, a baby poos everywhere (does a poo all parents know what i mean! up back etc!) and dont clean it properly,
melissa341, I'm not sure why you think you cant bathe a newborn? They have given all my babies a bath while in hospital and encouraged me to bath my babies every 2-3 days. As for the bath its called a tummy tub and people who have them swear by them. They mimick the womb making babies feel relaxed. They are especially good for premature babies
You're not supposed to bathe a newborn... and is that a bucket??? Ive never seen a baby bath tub like that
Shes really cute but this was just dangerous, I hope other new moms dont see this and think its okay to dip babies this early. Wash cloths and wipes only until the cord falls off.
That's not true. You get VERY bad infections if you don't let the umbilical cord dry well after a bath and don't use alcohol to disinfect every time you change the babies nappy until it falls off. It's in the US they developed this 'theory' that you can't bathed a baby till it drops off. It's just nonsense.
If you have a scab you can take a bath or shower and have no problems what so ever if you let the wound air dry well afterwards. Its the same with an umbilical stump...
Very untrue. I did it with both of my children and they are fine. You have to let them air dry and disinfect them after diaper changes. Its another way doctors scare people
Would you tell me about your experience with the Tommy tub. I am in the US and probably would have to get it in Canada...Thank you or Je vous remerci!

That is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen! And she was so calm for her bath. I have heard great things about the tummy tub.
Congrats on such a beautiful, precious baby.
