Perhaps WRW should use a 16 POUND ball like the rest of us, because leaving an 8-10 in the pocket is an end result of using a 15-pound ball, not bad shot-making. I watched this LIVE when it happened (and recorded it on DVD, as I do every week during the regular season), and I have 2 7-10 coversions (both in 1991), WRW's Big-4 pick (2005) and several 300 games on tape, but this is a first for me.

Try saying that when YOU eventually leave a pocket 8-10 split or for that matter a flat-10. A 16-pound ball would hit the pins with enough impact that the 6 takes out the 10.

I also have to agree with some of you saying WRW's lack of hand (low rev rate) also had something to do with it, as I myself have a low rev rate.

You just don't see anyone let alone the greatest ever leave an 8-10 on the Cheetah pattern (35 feet), Maybe the Shark (44 feet), but not a house pattern or the Cheetah.

The pattern has little to do with the leave since his entry angle on both lanes was similar.

He pulled the ball very slightly inside (maybe half a board) and apparently that was enough to reduce the angle of the ball so it slid the 5 in front of the 8 and slip the 6 in front of the 10. Very unfortunate break for that to happen when it did.

This brings back memories of the 1986 King Louie Open, when Walter Ray leaves an 8-10 to lose to Mark Baker. This is the 2nd time he has ever left an 8-10 in the 10th of a title match. Sad enough, Pedersen's comments were a little much(even if they were a spur of the moment deal) and Walter Ray's refusal to take a rerack on that shot cost him title 46. Maybe he might wanna reconsider his rerack philosophy next time.

The reason why he said that was a loser because even if WRW had by some miracle converted the 8-10 Spare, it would still make him lose by 1 pin.. it had to be a 9 Spare to tie, or a Strike to win. 8 Spare loses by one... a very bad break.
