retch... as a blazers fan this day will always sicken me. portland deserved to win this series. Many other blazers fans will say this day was pivotal in the future of the organization.
Lakers were the luckiest team in history that Portland missed almost EVERY shot in the 4th quarter of Game 7 after leading 71-55 near the end of that quarter. It had NOTHING to do with the Lakers defence....it was a Portland CHOKE, and that was the ONLY hope L.A had of beating Portland, and that hope was that if Portland beat themselves, because the Lakers sure couldn't do it!!!!
@lishsc3 The Lakers had a chance to close it out in 5 but nearly "choked." Lakers were clearly capable of beating Portland. Give me a break. Both were great teams that fought hard in this series. As you heard Costas say in the video, they split their 10 meetings that year 5-5. Lakers just made a ton of big plays in that 4th quarter. And yes, they played good defense.
@GKwarrior30 Yeah the Lakers had a chance to close them out in game 5, but look at how the Lakers got that 3-1 lead! Portland blew double digit leads in games 3 AND 4! That WHOLE SERIES was a nothing but one Portland collaps after another. And as far as the Lakers playing good defense in the 4th quarter, Portland missed 18 straight shots in that quarter, and SO MANY of them were wide open misses! It wasn't the Lakers D that prevailed, but totally a Blazers CHOKE JOB!!
@lishsc3 All I'm saying is Portland wasn't like a CLEAR better team like you make them out to be. If they were they would have been able to finish. Both teams were pretty evenly matched, which is why the series all year long between them was 6-5 in favor of LA. And as far as the defense goes, don't you want the other team to take jump shots? Which is mainly what Portland missed. Lakers did play solid defense though, especially Kobe. 4 blocked shots in game 7. Not bad for a SG.
@GKwarrior30 I know that Portland wasn't the clear better team ......I'm just still pissed at my Blazers for blowing Game 3 and then the ultimate choke in Game 7!! I think Portland was accually a little better than the Lakers "Overall", but for some reason they just couldn't close the deal! 12 years later it still bothers me...lol. Portland hasn't won a playoff series since that year when they knocked off the Jazz to play the Lakers! 12 YEARS WITHOUT ADVANCING!!! Makes me sick!
I love the nbc opening intro song. Brings back memories.

For a second I thought you were right, seeing Ron Harper and Scottie Pippen, but then I realized this wasn't the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls.
