K, that's just creepy. =/ I have seizures and sure, they're not fun, but I have a strong faith in God and I ask Jesus to give me strength all the time when I simply can't handle anymore. I have never been able to read the entire Bible or even listen to it on an audio book because I have short term memory loss AND a major attention span issue, but I can't imagine those words being of quotes of Jesus or God. :(
@SeizureTalk That's cuz the Bible does NOT say epilepsy is caused by an internal devil. Epilepsy is not a Mental illness. Back in the days people with Mental illness was thought to be demon possessed. And they'll do exorcisms and other things to try and take the demon out of them. But Epilepsy is NOT a Mental illness, its a Neurological disorder. Even if it was a mental illness, people with mental or other types of illness are not caused by demonic spirits/possession.

Hit my wife in the back and caused permanent damage, bit so hard I broke my jaw and dentures, broke fingers,pulled seat belt so hard I cut my hands ,Also have permanent damage to spine,hips,neck,and shoulders from severe dislocations over a long period, protect the person from hitting themselves though or hitting their head is key. protect them pls. @simmons299 Epilepsy is NOT a curse in any way. The number of people who view it this way has drastically decreased in recent years because of the increased awareness and modern research. This was mainly an ancient belief. He is correct in saying that epilepsy is nothing more than medical condition.
A VERY important distinction: the Bible never declares epilepsy to caused by an "internal devil". My assumption is that he came to that conclusion from stories in the Gospels of Jesus healing those possessed by demons. They did show behavior that looked similar to a seizure but it is not related to epilepsy whatsoever. I am both a firm Christian and an epileptic. It has been proven that my seizures are coming from a scarred tissue in my temporal lobe- NOT an internal devil.

@TheBradking69 I don't have a disability pension. My AEDs, Keppra & Vimpat are doing great for me now; I just wish that they came out decades ago. I haven't driven since 18 (only 30 minutes or so). I used to live in Canada (Calgary). However, that was 30 years ago.
It's quite obvious that everyone making fun of seizures is only doing so because they've never seen one or had one themselves. I thought the same until I had my first one. All I'm gonna say to you people is if you wake up in a hospital with a IV in your arm next to people that care about you and thought you were dying, it might change your perspective a little.
@SnizzFizz Good point. Only, there is the obvious, unfortunate fact that a good deal of one's life with any neuro condition is simply too scary for the family members (of all age groups). Thus, the epileptic, etc. will be "the black sheep" of his or her family as long as one has it. ;( . Just speaking fr/ 1st-hand xperience.

@SnizzFizz Agree I was born with elipesy went through a bunch of doctors and medications hoping eventually seizures would go away and they didnt. When I was 16 I met a doctor who realized nothing was working and told me about brain surgery. Went through a week of tests and they caught what part of my brain caused the seizues so I was a canadite for surgey. Had the surgery and 7 years later Im 22 years old and havnt had any seizures since.
Could some epileptic patients have seizures because of the failure of the limbic system. I have epilepsy and the medicine is causing side effects, but I know that I also have tinnitus.

if your medication can prevent you from having seizures for a year then you will be allowed to drive. if you write 'Epileptic' in the 'Medical Conditions' field of an application then they will look into your background and if you have not had a seizure for over a year then they will consider you for being able to drive again.

@mojojojo06666 The Partial's ( brain farts ) I can live with, the Tonic-Clonic's are some of the worst pain my body has ever been in. Being at risk for SUDEP because I have night seizure's. Waking up in pain, not knowing whats going on. Lot's of fun. Med's help, but not a cure.

Yeah the meds are good. still, sometimes i worry about it, Is it doing enough? the way i feel from time to time, like something may happy. any seizure involving convulsions and possible loss of consiousness can cause the face to change. usually blue aroung the lips, eyes rolling backwards and grinding of the teeth.

@imperialpod I've tried to figure this out as well because I see certain things that are intune with things I never encountered before I got the gods book, but they developed from shadows into beings, one happens when I'm awake, the ohter when I'm asleep. sorry to hear that pal. in some cases with medication used to treat epilepsy and anti-convulsants the constant use of one type of medicine will likely cause more and more side effects more frequently and they can get worse over time. try talking to your doctor to change your medication to a similar brand. maybe that can help with the harse side effects.
Did you know due to allot of illnesses cause allot of misery for humans suffer diseases that are man made like Epilepsy caused by bad family genes from the person. Even though allot of you people out there don't know for sure epilepsy is man made illness and there are many ways of causing this illness. 1, loss of blood, 2, poor food intake lead the brain to pump less blood to the brain to provide energy to sustain the body. Somethings in life just happen, they are tragic and they crush us deeply, but the comfort comes in knowing we are not alone, that there is someone who care and shares our pain. I know if I had one of my seizures and didn't make it through I would want those who love me to remember me by my life not my end.
Brain, spinal nervous system is connected. Percentage of cellular activity of the brain will be the same percentage of cellular activity of the body. When the atlas has shifted in any number of positions it will cause a log jam of information from brain to body. This log jam of information causes the body over time to become misshapen from a healthy shape it had when it was young. I have seen some misshaped young bodies, some as young a 20 that had a spine as bad as a 90 year old.
When infants are evaluated and, treated By U, C, S only care doctors. Like those that are taught at Sherman College and, monitored periodically through out life this epilepsy that you see and, many other problems of mind and, body will be a thing of the past. We will have stronger athletes. We will have smarter stronger humans, there will be less violence because the brain will be working better. Addictive habits s will be less. This video seems really patronizing, as I'm an epileptic. There, I said it. It's like when the UK Education branch (I'm sure it has a name), decided that 'brainstorming' was offensive to epileptics (again!) and so it shouldn't be used in schools. I remember years ago being told by a teacher that she was drawing a 'power shower' on the board. There was a poll on a site, Epilepsy Action I think, and 97% said it was dumb. I think it should be down to the subject to decide what they find offensive.
I have had epilepsy for over 10 years. It has messed up my memory but I am about to finish my 3rd college degree. I had to have a shoulder replaced because I fell off the bed. I have found that sometimes I can stop them if I try and "think" really hard. I have an aura that comes on about 30 minutes before, so my most usual way to stop them is a straight dose of a benzodiazepine (valium for me) with the keppra and depakote. I dont care about PC terms either, im an epileptic, whatever.

Exactly. The term "epileptic" is derogatory and the condition can be called a disease or brain injury, all depending on the person and situations. After living with it for 34 years I've tried almost everything and I thank God for the patience and persistence he has gifted me with.

I was enlisted in our United States Marine Corps. Its the only thing I've ever wanted to do. and then two fucking weeks from my ship date I collapse and have a tonic clonic seizure. Epilepsy ruined my life. and the fucking pills that give you depression and suicidal tendancies dont help one damn bit. I hate the damn mental defect.

i was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 19 im 33 now and still was having them until i found a miracle doctor in newyork and i stay in chicago he finally gave me the tests i needed and found the right medication for me which was lamital and keppra i have been seizure free for almost 2 years but my IQ as went down and i cant remember anything i was depressed often i use to take depakote,dilantin, and i continue to have seizures then i started having them in my sleep once on the depakote

These quotes means that not every sickness is from the devil, and it also means the devil or God, can induce sickness or illness, since He created everything, and His creation seemed natural, then any sickness is also explained naturally, which for a Doc like you, means that anything explained by science cannot be from God, or the devil (by God's consent)
Therez one thing we need to understand about the times in which the Bible was written when it relates to that particular issue. A boy had a seizure and Jesus cured him.Jesus didnt say that boy had a demon.Its the writer of that Gospel who might not have known that that was just a seizure.Its no fault of theirs really. We don't know of any form of information that *wasn't* made by humans. The Bible? Written by primitive human tribes. The closest claim you can possibly have is that it was "divinely inspired", but it was written by men - not gods. So, ask yourself, why should we believe anything written by primitive barbarians thousands of years ago, even if the primitive people genuinely thought it to be true?
Im sure youve read the bible so i dont know why you would think cave men wrote it. When did the human race get out of this "barbarian" stage? when when cars were invented? because there were already large governments such as the roman empire.
The original fables which would be integrated to the Bible were contemporary with primitive civilisations, such as ancient Egypt. The reason I call its authors barbarians is because the events described in the OT are quite barbaric - things such as the wanton slaughter of men, women, and children whenever Yaweh's "chosen people" came across somebody they didn't like. The contents of the Old Testament are really quite horrific.
Even if primitive tribes did write a library of 66 books by 40 authors. it would be a better case for having it be "divinely inspired" because of all of the prophecies of historical events and i dont think the 300 or so prohpecies jesus fulfilled himself were just by chance.

My bro has had seizures since he was 13.He's 31 now.After a surgery to remove a tumor,he's had just 3 in 4 yrs.We are thankful for that.but i wana ask a question,if anyone has an answer.When he used to have regular seizures,he would reflexively ask us to apply pressure around the part of his arm where the seizure began.Funny thing is,if pressure was applied,early enough and at the right point,the seizure would not spread beyond that part and he'd be fine!Any explanations why?
the pressure might have triggered something in his mind that stopped the seizure, cause some people can stop the seizure on their own, simple mind over matter type of thing, him well he might have just needed alitle help

I got diagnosed in the 70's and got sexually fixed so I can't have kids. Theydidn't need my consent as I was under-age. Just a signature from my parents to do whatever's necessary. I'm also classed Unemployable for Life (since it's not something that just goes away after a while) claiming the safety of thousands is more important than the pleasures of just one. Same reason why I cannot drive, and am not allowed to marry. And yet everyone figures they know what's best for us?

K, that's just creepy. =/ I have seizures and sure, they're not fun, but I have a strong faith in God and I ask Jesus to give me strength all the time when I simply can't handle anymore. I have never been able to read the entire Bible or even listen to it on an audio book because I have short term memory loss AND a major attention span issue, but I can't imagine those words being of quotes of Jesus or God. :(

@SeizureTalk That's cuz the Bible does NOT say epilepsy is caused by an internal devil. Epilepsy is not a Mental illness. Back in the days people with Mental illness was thought to be demon possessed. And they'll do exorcisms and other things to try and take the demon out of them. But Epilepsy is NOT a Mental illness, its a Neurological disorder. Even if it was a mental illness, people with mental or other types of illness are not caused by demonic spirits/possession.

@jamie151994 Some truth to that ,the hardest I have ever been hit in my life,including boxing, was by myself while in a long g-mal sz. Hit my wife in the back and caused permanent damage, bit so hard I broke my jaw and dentures, broke fingers,pulled seat belt so hard I cut my hands ,Also have permanent damage to spine,hips,neck,and shoulders from severe dislocations over a long period, protect the person from hitting themselves though or hitting their head is key. protect them pls. To explain seems senseless, but was able to "feel" the sounds the senses so ENHANCED that the waves became focused confusion. @simmons299 Epilepsy is NOT a curse in any way. The number of people who view it this way has drastically decreased in recent years because of the increased awareness and modern research. This was mainly an ancient belief. He is correct in saying that epilepsy is nothing more than medical condition.

A VERY important distinction: the Bible never declares epilepsy to caused by an "internal devil". My assumption is that he came to that conclusion from stories in the Gospels of Jesus healing those possessed by demons. They did show behavior that looked similar to a seizure but it is not related to epilepsy whatsoever. I am both a firm Christian and an epileptic. It has been proven that my seizures are coming from a scarred tissue in my temporal lobe- NOT an internal devil.

@stubs96 When I was 14 or so, my life was a mess with undiagnised TL eps, even though I was the best student in school, I was also the big warmonger... when I got some weed, I suddenly thought "oh, boy, the dizzy spells are gone!" I started studying like crazy, smoked every day, and got a college scholarship to the US at 15!

It's quite obvious that everyone making fun of seizures is only doing so because they've never seen one or had one themselves. I thought the same until I had my first one. All I'm gonna say to you people is if you wake up in a hospital with a IV in your arm next to people that care about you and thought you were dying, it might change your perspective a little.

@SnizzFizz Good point. Only, there is the obvious, unfortunate fact that a good deal of one's life with any neuro condition is simply too scary for the family members (of all age groups). Thus, the epileptic, etc. will be "the black sheep" of his or her family as long as one has it. ;( . Just speaking fr/ 1st-hand xperience.

@SnizzFizz Agree I was born with elipesy went through a bunch of doctors and medications hoping eventually seizures would go away and they didnt. When I was 16 I met a doctor who realized nothing was working and told me about brain surgery. Went through a week of tests and they caught what part of my brain caused the seizues so I was a canadite for surgey. Had the surgery and 7 years later Im 22 years old and havnt had any seizures since.

if your medication can prevent you from having seizures for a year then you will be allowed to drive. if you write 'Epileptic' in the 'Medical Conditions' field of an application then they will look into your background and if you have not had a seizure for over a year then they will consider you for being able to drive again.

@mojojojo06666 The Partial's ( brain farts ) I can live with, the Tonic-Clonic's are some of the worst pain my body has ever been in. Being at risk for SUDEP because I have night seizure's. Waking up in pain, not knowing whats going on. Lot's of fun. Med's help, but not a cure.

Yeah the meds are good. still, sometimes i worry about it, Is it doing enough? the way i feel from time to time, like something may happy. I'm taking those epilem chrono tabs. maybe we'll talk in private ;)

also, i had a friend, who died while having a seizure in the shower. he fell right on the plunger that you pull up to make the shower head activate, and it impaled his head.

I may have believed you a few years back, but certain experiences lead me to believe that certain myths may not be completely untrue.
Say for example that possession did/does exist and that people who experience it act in a way similar to epilepsy sufferers.
Possession implies dead beings/people occupying the brain of a living person, not permanently, but every so often, passing through so to speak.
The movie Being John Malvovik covers this topic and he behaves VERY similar to one in siezure.

Unless you have actually cast out a demon it is hard to understnd what Christ and his dicsiples were dealing with.
Personally I've cast out a few and yes, their actions look like seizures as the forgein enity leaves.
Demons though are fallen angels not dead persons.
Christ actually cast out a lot of demons in his small area of travel.

@imperialpod I've tried to figure this out as well because I see certain things that are intune with things I never encountered before I got the gods book, but they developed from shadows into beings, one happens when I'm awake, the ohter when I'm asleep. I think that whenever ur out of balance, it alters the channel ur on. that stuff is happening but we aren't understanding it,not of us.

If the occupier is a complete asshole, then that person would be described as a demon, after all, demons have got to be somebody, just not nice somebodies.
Given our lack of real knowledge on the human brain and given the experiences of MANY people in regards afterlife experiences, conscious dreaming etc, I would not be surprised if a lot of seizures ARE caused by external/internal manipulation.
The sooner we can see and hear inside the brain the better.Thats when things will get interesting.

sorry to hear that pal. in some cases with medication used to treat epilepsy and anti-convulsants the constant use of one type of medicine will likely cause more and more side effects more frequently and they can get worse over time. try talking to your doctor to change your medication to a similar brand. maybe that can help with the harse side effects.

Somethings in life just happen, they are tragic and they crush us deeply, but the comfort comes in knowing we are not alone, that there is someone who care and shares our pain. Brain, spinal nervous system is connected. Percentage of cellular activity of the brain will be the same percentage of cellular activity of the body. When the atlas has shifted in any number of positions it will cause a log jam of information from brain to body. This log jam of information causes the body over time to become misshapen from a healthy shape it had when it was young. I have seen some misshaped young bodies, some as young a 20 that had a spine as bad as a 90 year old.

When infants are evaluated and, treated By U, C, S only care doctors. Like those that are taught at Sherman College and, monitored periodically through out life this epilepsy that you see and, many other problems of mind and, body will be a thing of the past. We will have stronger athletes. We will have smarter stronger humans, there will be less violence because the brain will be working better. Addictive habits s will be less. This video seems really patronizing, as I'm an epileptic. There, I said it. It's like when the UK Education branch (I'm sure it has a name), decided that 'brainstorming' was offensive to epileptics (again!) and so it shouldn't be used in schools. I remember years ago being told by a teacher that she was drawing a 'power shower' on the board. There was a poll on a site, Epilepsy Action I think, and 97% said it was dumb. I think it should be down to the subject to decide what they find offensive.

I have had epilepsy for over 10 years. It has messed up my memory but I am about to finish my 3rd college degree. I had to have a shoulder replaced because I fell off the bed. I have found that sometimes I can stop them if I try and "think" really hard. I have an aura that comes on about 30 minutes before, so my most usual way to stop them is a straight dose of a benzodiazepine (valium for me) with the keppra and depakote. I dont care about PC terms either, im an epileptic, whatever.

Exactly. The term "epileptic" is derogatory and the condition can be called a disease or brain injury, all depending on the person and situations. After living with it for 34 years I've tried almost everything and I thank God for the patience and persistence he has gifted me with.
Living with epilepsy is no simple task. There are too many stories I can tell to continue.

I think you should go back to medical school ,because there isn't one word of truth in what you are explaining ! I know this because I have epilepsy & had many grand mal seizures I have no idea what i did in high school ,my math has gone to shit ,I even have to read a sentence more than once until I understand it. My life is hell I am tired ,depressed ,& have a wonderful feeling to end it all. now can you say I am happy ,content ,cured ?

I was enlisted in our United States Marine Corps. Its the only thing I've ever wanted to do. and then two fucking weeks from my ship date I collapse and have a tonic clonic seizure. Epilepsy ruined my life. and the fucking pills that give you depression and suicidal tendancies dont help one damn bit. I hate the damn mental defect.

fuck "seizure disorder." i was initially told by my doctor I had seizure disorder and it took me a few years to realize this was just a happy pc term for epilepsy. I have epilepsy - I AM epileptic, and have no shame in it.

i was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 19 im 33 now and still was having them until i found a miracle doctor in newyork and i stay in chicago he finally gave me the tests i needed and found the right medication for me which was lamital and keppra i have been seizure free for almost 2 years but my IQ as went down and i cant remember anything i was depressed often i use to take depakote,dilantin, and i continue to have seizures then i started having them in my sleep once on the depakote

brain damage and intelligence are both curious points. I have been on a lot of medications (a lot). I have also watched my "IQ" go up and down like a yo yo. Still it is a bit better than seizures. I can't remember the last 10 years of my life - thats cool.

Therez one thing we need to understand about the times in which the Bible was written when it relates to that particular issue. A boy had a seizure and Jesus cured him.Jesus didnt say that boy had a demon.Its the writer of that Gospel who might not have known that that was just a seizure.Its no fault of theirs really. Its just the times.Heck people thought of seizures as demons even till just decades ago. There's still some people even now!

We don't know of any form of information that *wasn't* made by humans. The Bible? Written by primitive human tribes. The closest claim you can possibly have is that it was "divinely inspired", but it was written by men - not gods. So, ask yourself, why should we believe anything written by primitive barbarians thousands of years ago, even if the primitive people genuinely thought it to be true?

The original fables which would be integrated to the Bible were contemporary with primitive civilisations, such as ancient Egypt. The reason I call its authors barbarians is because the events described in the OT are quite barbaric - things such as the wanton slaughter of men, women, and children whenever Yaweh's "chosen people" came across somebody they didn't like. The contents of the Old Testament are really quite horrific.

Even if primitive tribes did write a library of 66 books by 40 authors. it would be a better case for having it be "divinely inspired" because of all of the prophecies of historical events and i dont think the 300 or so prohpecies jesus fulfilled himself were just by chance.

My bro has had seizures since he was 13.He's 31 now.After a surgery to remove a tumor,he's had just 3 in 4 yrs.We are thankful for that.but i wana ask a question,if anyone has an answer.When he used to have regular seizures,he would reflexively ask us to apply pressure around the part of his arm where the seizure began.Funny thing is,if pressure was applied,early enough and at the right point,the seizure would not spread beyond that part and he'd be fine!Any explanations why?

the pressure might have triggered something in his mind that stopped the seizure, cause some people can stop the seizure on their own, simple mind over matter type of thing, him well he might have just needed alitle help

i have been having seizures for the past 10 yrs. i'm on meds to control them but never have been able to get off them...dont know what this guy's talkin about..i get seizures when i'm really tired, so normally i'm in bed when it happens..

I got diagnosed in the 70's and got sexually fixed so I can't have kids. Theydidn't need my consent as I was under-age. Just a signature from my parents to do whatever's necessary. I'm also classed Unemployable for Life (since it's not something that just goes away after a while) claiming the safety of thousands is more important than the pleasures of just one. Same reason why I cannot drive, and am not allowed to marry. And yet everyone figures they know what's best for us?

I'm not a medical expert but I don't think it classes as a disease or even an illness, just a disorder.
Mine is caused by a brain tumor so I've described the epilepsy as a 'symptom' before.
