This is no glitch, Ditto can breed with any Pokemon that can breed and even with some that can't. When the egg hatches, it will be at it's lowest evolutionary state (i.e. breed a Gyarados with Ditto and it will be a Magikarp) Occasionally Pokemon can learn special moves through breed items, such as incense, and pass down natures and IVs as well.

Get a ditto which is found near Jubilife and put it into the daycare with some other pokemon that can be breeded, and you will have an egg in short time. You hatch the egg, and out comes a lv.1 pokemon.
