been to PG twice now, first time twenty years ago, and recently. The paved road north is a blessing...alot more cars. Beautiful weather, beautiful water, fresh fruit and fresh fish...truely is a pearl
this is funny because i keep this vid in my fav so i can show the brothers and sisters here in powell river . we had to come back but miss ity dearly. here are some updates telmo is a ms he married a mexican sister uvia and now give public talks the Gerise are all doing well and he is serving in the hall as well they now have 4 elder perminent . if you would like some pics let me know
@Fireinthewater1111 No, they are not free of those. The majority of folks are forced to live in todays system so they have electricity bills and taxes like the rest of us. The prices are also going up beyond what people can afford like the rest of us. The people are no longer benefiting from there own land and it`s been like that for a long time. Yes the country is beautiful and the people friendly but don`t be fooled, this systems paradises are only possessed by the well off!
@jassmandidgeridoo Yeah! We had some fun too. This is some old amature video that we just love, and the people in it are family who still live there. You may even know Martha, the lady in the shot. See you still live elsewhere in Belize, and those guitars you make are just something else. Great! I enjoyed your videos.
Was there in 1984, and also went down on a canoe to Barranco at the southern end near Guatamala and Honduras. Barranco was real wild then. No road in there at all.
In Punta Gorda i saw them bring in a Dew fish...God it was huge!
Also visisted Xunatunich which was amazing. Belize is like a mini Amazon. Caught an Iguana and swam in the river where crocodiles were (stupid really).
I think that`s the magic of keeping it real. Many people can relate it to their own experience. Most of the filming was done by my son who had no knowledge or experience of using video. Never-the-less, it`s fast moving and has captured the essence of Punta Gorda.
I am jealous! Wouldn`t mind returning there myself. I will be in Mexico in May but sadly won`t be able to make it down to Belize. I will be planning though in the near future.
I was fortunate enough to get RT tickets for 250 USD from Idaho... unheard of! Otherwise I wouldn't be going this year at all. I have been to Belize many times and own land in Cayo, but have not been to PG yet. I want to get as far away from tourists (although I kindof am one) as possible and into the culture.
Hi there, it was nice to see your video of Punta Gorda. I was there around 1990 for 6 months with the British Army. I fell in love with the whole place. Sadly I dont think I will ever get to see it again only through the videos on Youtube. Thanks for the memories. Paul in the UK
Yes, our family does not like touristy areas at all. We don't like the places were it is crowded and stressful. It seems to me that whenever a beautiful place like Belize starts becoming a tourist area, the crime rates rise, and it spoils so much.
I miss having scrambled eggs with beans and tortillas for breakfast! Fryjacks too, and proper watermelon. The fruit here in the US doesn't really compare to the fresh, sweet, juicy fruit there!
No, I wasn't born there, but I would've loved it if I had been. Were you? The last time we went to Belize, we stayed in a village, and we made friends with everybody. I loved it. It must have been awesome 20 years ago when there wasn't all the tourists coming down for cheap beer. My family is seriously considering buying a property near Big Falls~ I hope we do. What country do you live in currently?
Ahhhhhhhhhh I miss Belize. That da mi home man. Home is where the heart is.
